16 2.4.2 Auto-Calibration After the installation, alignment and focusing of your Panomera Multifocal Sensor System, a calibration of the module transitions is required. Note that when changing the distance to static objects within a scene (e.g. when changing the installation height or camera inclination) a recalibration of the module transitions is required. prior to the calibration of the module transitions each camera module must be optimally focused. an automatic calibration of the module transitions is not possible for low-contrast scenes. In this case, place an object with sufficient contrast in the corresponding module area and restart the calibration. areas with clearly differentiable scene content (clearly recognizable spatial structures, objects and textures) are preferred for the automatic calibration of the module transitions. due to physical and optical properties, not all edge transitions can be corrected, since objects with different distances to the background do always have a different parallax offset. due to diurnal and seasonal changes in humidity and temperature and thus the resulting component movements or material stresses (e.g. of poles and brackets) image changes may occur mainly in more distant scene areas (e.g. changes of image section and edge transitions). In the PService System configuration window, right-click the corresponding entry of your Panomera Multifocal Sensor System. The context menu is then displayed. Select Auto-Calibration. The subprogram Auto-Calibration is then executed. Fig. 2-8 Click Start Auto-Calibration. The individual program components are loaded and the calibration process starts automatically. 16

Fig. 2-10: Auto-Calibration finished Check the calibration result. The size of the dialog window can be resized by dragging the lower right corner. Using the mouse wheel, you can zoom into the image. If magnification >1, left-click in the image, hold the mouse button down and drag the mouse to move the image section. Click Accept & Save and confirm with OK if the calibration result meets your requirements. or Click Start Auto-Calibration to restart the calibration process. To exit the subprogram Auto-Calibration, click Exit. 17

18 2.5 Step 4: Recording Configuration (SMAVIA Recording Server) SMAVIA Appliances support the recording of Panomera Multifocal Sensor Systems as of version 8.x.6 of the integrated SMAVIA Recording Server software. The appliances scope of delivery includes licenses for the recording of up to 8 HD cameras or Panomera master and subchannels. Consequently, Panomera Multifocal Sensor Systems can be connected directly and without separate licensing. Recording Settings 8 Channels Standard Camera Name LP Track Resolution 1 Panomera Master Channel 4 MP 2 Panomera Subchannel 1 3 Panomera Subchannel 2-4 MP MP - 4 Panomera Subchannel MP - Fig Recommended Recording Settings Panomera Master Channel: Resolution: 4 MP (default parameter) Frame rate: 12.5 fps Bit rate: 6 Mbps After the configuration of the Panomera master channel, the settings can simply be applied to all Panomera subchannels. If a change is required, the configuration of all Panomera subchannels is adjusted automatically. For more information, read the documentation on the configuration of your SMAVIA Appliance. 18

Using the F1 key on your keyboard, you have the option to display the grid of the individual camera modules (zones of the respective individual streams) in the respective Panomera split (press the F2 key to hide the module grid again). 25

26 Chapter 4: Heater Depending on the model, your Panomera Multifocal Sensor System is equipped with an integrated heater for the automatic control of the inner housing temperature, making it ideal for outdoor use even at low temperatures (see data sheet). Usually, your Panomera Multifocal Sensor System is also provided with a pressure equalization element. Pressure equalization elements are used to prevent the formation of condensation in sealed enclosures, where humidity normally cannot escape to the outside. The pressure equalization element continuously equalizes the internal pressure to the ambient pressure. Thus, the temperature and humidity difference between the housing interior and the ambient air is balanced, and hence the formation of condensation is largely prevented. Condensation Inside the Housing Condensation inside the housing forms mainly due to high temperature or pressure fluctuations. Despite the built-in pressure equalization element, a sudden drop in temperature (e.g. based on heavy showers or thunderstorms) can cause water vapor (moisture) inside the housing, resulting in condensation on the inner surface of the front glass. In this case, activate the integrated heater manually until the inner surface of the front glass is free from fog. Manual Heater Control If a manual control of the heater is necessary, proceed as follows: Establish a connection to the Panomera master module (see section Establishing the Connection on page 10). Open the Heater dialog via Panomera > Heater.... Fig. 4-1: Heater dialog with status and internal temperature display - Example Panomera WebConfig Configure all necessary settings and confirm with OK. Note that the built-in heater cannot be activated if the internal housing temperature has exceeded +60 C (140 F). 26
