2 This guide details the use of the LTRC / LDWF / Boat-Ed training course designed to increase student awareness of boating safety practices. Information covered in this training includes: General information concerning boats and maintenance Information regarding boat safety equipment Boating safety tips on how to be a more courteous boat operator Boat laws for Louisiana and regulations to which you must adhere

3 Students begin the online training course by clicking on the Boat Louisiana link on the LTRC web site. From the Boat Louisiana web site, the students will begin reviewing training material that will prepare them for the certification examination. Upon completion of the certification examination, the Training Specialist will enter the Group Access Code and complete the registration documentation as required. Following the entry of the Group Access Code the examination grade will be issued. The examination fee will be charged regardless of the student s successful completion of the examination.

Each student shall have one chance at successfully completing the online certification examination. A minimum passing score of 80% is required to successfully complete the course. In the event of a failed attempt, the student will be required to attend the LDWF classroom version of the training and examination.

5 Students are strongly encouraged to study all chapters and complete all exercises and the pretest before beginning the final examination. The following slides illustrate the online training process:

8 Click on the Online Boater Safety link to access the course.

9 Click on the Take Course link

10 Click on the Begin the ONLINE boating safety course link

11 Click on the Begin the Louisiana boat safety course link

12 Begin studying the material in each chapter

13 Complete the review questions for each chapter

14 Click on the Submit button after completing the review questions

15 Review your answers to the review questions

16 After completing all chapters and review questions, click on the Take the practice test to check your knowledge link

17 Enter your date of birth and click on the PROCEED TO PRACTICE TEST button

18 Click on the COMPLETED- PROCEED button after completing the practice test

19 Your calculated score will be shown (minimum passing score is 80%) Click on the Show me which questions I missed button to review

20 Click on the link to review the section regarding the missed question

21 Click on the link for the Certification Exam to take the final exam

22 The Certification Exam window will appear

23 Complete the student information and click on the PROCEED TO EXAM button

24 Complete the Certification Exam

25 Upon completing the Certification Exam, click on the PROCEED TO PAYMENT button

26 Complete the student information on the billing information form

27 Have the Training Specialist enter the billing information using the LTRC Group Account Number as the credit card number and click on the SUBMIT button

28 Review the student and billing information and click on the CONTINUE button

29 Your certification exam score will then be shown

30 Click on the SHOW ME WHAT QUESTIONS I MISSED button to review any missed questions

31 Review your missed questions

32 Click on the Online Boating Safety link to enter student information for ETRN credit

33 Click on the BOAT LA FORM link to enter course credit in ETRN.

34 Completing the LA DOTD Boat Louisiana form and clicking the Submit button will provide credit in ETRN
