3 Minicontactor CI 5 CI 5 minicontactors cover the power range up to 7.5 HP and are available for C and DC coil voltages enabling reliable working with extremely low and high voltage fluctuations. Compact design The compact design of the CI5 minicontactor makes it suitable for applications where space is at a premium. High flexibiity With add-on auxiliary contact blocks, timers and other additional accessories they offer high flexibility. Safety & Protection The CI 5-series guarantees extra safety against electric shock by protective distance for live parts during mounting according to IEC edition 5 standard. The CI 5-series also includes dedicated bimetallic overload protection relays for sensitive to phase-loss condition. The relays have single phase protection, i.e. accelerated release if phase drop-out occurs. This is particularly important for motors with delta connected windings. Selection of thermal overload relay The selection of a thermal overload relay must be based on the motor full load current and the method of starting: With direct start the range for motor starter is used. With star-delta start the range for Y/D starter is used. Example using CI-9 contactor: Full load current: 12 (Code states to size for 115% of FL, meaning to use 12 x 1.15 = 13.8) With direct start, the suitable motor starter range is 11-16, i.e. thermal overload relay 047H

8 IEC Contactors CI 9-30 with DC Coils Contactors CI 9 DC - CI 30 DC (no built-in auxiliary contacts) - ref. Figure 1 Contactors CI 9 DC - 30 DC and 9 EI - 30 EI cover the range up to 20HP at 600 VC. The operation of the coil is controlled by an electronic circuit while the control voltage is 12 V DC or 24 V DC. The CI 9 EI - 30 EI range also includes thermal overload relays for protection of squirrel-cage motors. Compact design in multiple sizes The compact frame design of the CI contactors makes them ideal to fitting into almost any space. Integrated interface relay The range CI 9 EI - 30 EI has a built-in interface relay for PLC application with 24 V d.c. output. Flexibility wide range of clip-on aux. contacts, timers, surge suppressors, mechanical interlock and marking plates makes the CI 9-30 program very flexible and suitable both for OEMs and panel builders. 11 Electronic Clip-on Timers ETB ETB electronic clip-on timers are for use with Danfoss contactors to delay contactor close and open. The clip-on timers can be clipped direct onto contactors CI 6-50 and occupy as little space as one auxiliary contact. Where separate mounting at the side of contactors is required, a DIN rail mounting base is available.
