While drawout switchgear with power air circuit breakers remais a highly reliable solutio, may customers are requestig optios with moldedcase circuit breakers (MCCBs). The primary reaso for requestig MCCB applicatios is to obtai frot-accessible equipmet i a compact desig that reduces the footprit of the distributio equipmet ad saves valuable space withi the facility. Cosultats ad customers have requested CSA C22.2 No.29 Listed power paelboards ad CSA-C22.2 No.31 Listed switchboards for this applicatio. Oe of the problems is that customers have bee relegated to a hybrid offerig usig drawout switchgear ad plug-o MCCB offerigs. While the hybrid system has had some success, it has ot totally addressed the customer s eed for drawout type of equipmet. Eato drawout MCCB paelboards ad switchboards aswer this eed. This is the first desig to offer three-pole MCCBs i a mechaical drawout desig. Breaker ratigs from 20A to 600A use uique drawout cassettes. Breakers are iserted ad removed via a mechaical removal system similar to other drawout desigs associated with switchgear; however, these breakers are horizotally mouted i a traditioal paelboard ad switchboard group-mouted maer. Feeder devices above 600A through 1200A use a vertically mouted drawout MCCB desig. Regardless of the drawout MCCB eeded, all are frot-accessible ad frot-coected. Drawout MCCB paelboards Pow-R-Lie 4D drawout paelboards The Eato drawout Pow-R-LieT 4D (PRL4D) paelboard is CSA C-22.2 No. 29 Listed for wall-mouted applicatios from 600A to 1200A. The paelboards are rated at 240 Vac, 480 Vac, ad 600 Vac. Fault curret is available up to 200 kaic at 240 Vac, 100 kaic at 480 Vac, ad. 50 kaic at 600 Vac The short-circuit curret ratig of the paelboard is determied by the low short-circuit curret ratig of the lowest rated device i the paelboard. The both the box ad the trim are paited ANSI-61 light gray. Deadfrot covers are also paited ANSI-61 light gray to match the box ad trim. Drawout feeder MCCBs are available i three-pole offerigs from 20A to 600A. Mai breakers above 600A are fixed-mouted usig a traditioal bolt-o desig. Mai breakers 600A ad below are available with either the traditioal fixed-mouted, bolt-o desig or i a drawout cassette. For drawout mais or feeders above 600A, please use the Eato switchboard offerig. Paelboards are available with stadard ti-plated alumium bus ad silver-plated copper bus. Drawout MCCB switchboards Pow-R-Lie drawout switchboards The Eato Pow-R-Lie drawout switchboard desig is listed ad labeled to the CSA C-22.2 No. 31 stadard. Switchboards are reated up to 4000A. The Eato Pow-R-Lie drawout switchboards are always customcofigured to your specificatios. Examples of optioal icomig cofiguratios iclude alterative power source desigs for automatic trasfer switches, mai-tie-mai, double-eded mais, ad custom trasfer schemes. Features of the drawout group-mouted MCCB desig offer ew optios ot available before i group-mouted distributio equipmet. The desig uses a cassette that has two distict parts. The cassette base is specially desiged so that the lieside coectios to the board s vertical bus ad the loadside coectio to feeder coductors ca be permaet. The drawout cassette allows the breaker ad ay breaker accessory coectios to be removed. Base cassette Drawout Molded-Case Circuit Breaker Base Cassettes The base cassette is permaetly mouted to the board s chassis. The cassette base lieside coectios use bus coectors ad are factory-coected to the paelboard or switchboard vertical bus. The base cassette is permaetly mouted to the board s chassis ad is desiged to accept the drawout cassette that cotais the breaker. The loadside feeder coductors are also part of the base cassette, allowig the loadside feeder coductors to remai with the base cassette whe the breaker is removed. This eables the breaker to be removed from the group-mouted sectio without the eed to remove the loadside coductors. The base cassette cotais a drawout rackig mechaism, a Coected/Discoected positio idicator, ad a pull-apart termial block base (used whe there are coectios to breaker accessories). I additio, the base cassette houses the lie ad load coectors that accept the drawout MCCB cassette. NNote: Per idustry practice, all power to the board sectio must be discoected at its source before workig o ay electrical equipmet. The drawout cassette icorporates a viewig widow ad a exteral rackig port. The viewig widow allows persoel to visually ispect the status of the breaker ad to see whether the breaker is coected to or discoected from the bus. The widow exposes the Coected/Discoected positio idicator o the base cassette. The exteral rackig port allows access to the rackig mechaism to draw out the breaker. The drawout cassette icludes a permaetly mouted deadfrot cover that is attached to the breaker assembly. The deadfrot withdraws with the breaker assembly. Additioally, the drawout cassette cotais hadles attached to the deadfrot to help easily remove the breaker. Whe accessories are istalled i the MCCB, the drawout cassette also cotais a pigtail wirig haress. The haress is factory-wired. Whe the drawout breaker cassette is removed, the termial block ca be easily discoected, eablig total removal of the drawout breaker cassette. Exteral coectios o the secodary side of the termial block are provided by the istaller. The drawout cassette employs two breaker families. The JG family stadard offerig is a adjustable thermal-magetic trip uit ad offers three-pole breakers ragig from 70A to 250A. Optioal 310+ trip uits offer ampere rages from 20A to 250A. The JG family is available i either a sigle group-mouted desig or a high-desity, space-savig dual group-mouted desig where two JG breakers occupy the same vertical space. This may require a wider eclosure. The LG family also offers a adjustable thermal-magetic trip uit as stadard. Optioal 310+ trip uits provide ampere rages from to 600A. The LG family is available i a sigle-mout desig oly. The Arcflash Reductio Maiteace System is available o the LG family of drawout MCCBs combiig the Arcflash Reductio Maiteace System with the DigitripE 310+ electroic trip uit, allowig for the ability to place the trip uit i Maiteace mode to reduce potetial arc-flash eergy. This is doe by a dedicated istataeous sesig circuit with settigs of 2.5 ad 4.0 times the curret ratig of the trip uit. This dedicated aalog sesig circuit delivers breaker clearig times that are faster tha istataeous by elimiatig microprocessor processig latecies. This provides superior arc-flash reductio tha simply the lower stadard istataeous pickup set poit that others use. Whe the Eato Arcflash Reductio Maiteace System is eabled, the resultig reduced arc-flash eergy allows for reduced PPE, which improves worker comfort ad mobility. With the Arcflash Reductio Maiteace System set at 2.5X or 4.0X, it reduces icidet eergy levels to allow PPE Category 0 for currets of 2.5X or 4.0X the breaker ampere ratig or greater. The iitial settig of each Arcflash Reductio Maiteace System trip uit is determied by completig a power system aalysis to assess available fault curret at the circuit breaker. Based o that aalysis, the Maiteace mode protectio settigs are defied, achievig a reduced level of arc-flash eergy. The Maiteace mode is the activated by adjustig the trip uit s istataeous settig to desired Maiteace mode levels that are determied by the power aalysis. As a result, the coordiatio betwee oe breaker ad aother could compromise selectivity (breaker closest to the fault opeig first). ZSI is desiged to mitigate selectivity issues with MCCBs. Both the JG ad LG families of MCCBs offer ZSI as a optio. ZSI provides icreased system protectio ad ca reduce arc-flash risk by allowig the breaker closest to the fault to trip without ay preset time delays. This is achieved by selectig ad settig the trip uit equipped with the ZSI optio. The hardwired coectio betwee the trip uits seds a restraiig sigal upstream, allowig the breaker closest to the fault to act istataeously. ZSI reduces stress o the distributio system ad ca reduce arc-flash risk by isolatig faults without time delays.
