The Professioal versio icludes all of the features of the Basic ad Advaced versios plus some ew ad powerful features. It icludes the DFR Waveform Viewer, Oe-Touch Test, Modbus, ad Waveform Digitizer. APPLICATIONS Usig the Olie Ramp Cotrol, traditioal steady-state tests are easily performed with by simply applyig test quatities to the device uder test ad automatically rampig the curret, voltage, phase agle or frequecy. Usig either the Olie Ramp, Vector or Dyamic Cotrols, Dyamic tests ca easily be performed. The dyamic test icludes settig a prefault coditio ad allowig the software to automatically test/search for the operatig characteristic of the relay by selectig oe of several available methods. Usig Test Wizards or Test Modules, fault types are selected from a pull-dow widow. Operatig characteristics for virtually ay type of relay are easily defied usig Mho circles, Leticular, Tomato characteristics, or a combiatio of lies, lie ad slope, time ad amplitude, calculated value or theoretical object (a time-curret curve may be scaed ito the program usig the digitizer feature i either the Advaced or Professioal versios of ). The Test Scree eables the user to view test values (both theoretical ad actual) o oe scree. For example, the figure above shows test values, both theoretical ad actual results, all o oe scree. Test Editor Dyamic Cotrol Multi-State Playback Ed-To-Ed Tests Provides editig tools for modifyig tests. Accessed through the Test Editor Scree, the Dyamic Cotrol provides dyamic multi-state testig of relays with more flexibility ad choices tha Vector Cotrol. A state ca be voltage(s), curret(s), phase agle(s), timers, start ad stop the aalog recorder, set Boolea logic for the biary iputs, set biary output(s), or eve use variables to set values. The test trasitios from oe state to aother after a programmed time delay of either millisecods or cycles, or for Ed-to-Ed tests after a trigger coditio. Allows the user to easily build harmoic waveforms with frequecies up to 1000 Hz. * Recorder I associatio with the Dyamic Cotrol is a Recorder feature, which ot oly records the actio of the biary iputs ad outputs, but it also records the actual aalogue waveforms of the SMRT/MPRT voltage ad curret outputs. Use this ew feature to capture ad verify aalogue output values. SS1 File Coverter SS1 files are geerated usig Power System Simulatio software programs by Electroco CAPE or Aspe Oe-lier. By modelig the power system ad usig the SS1 files, the relay ca the be tested dyamically usig realistic system test scearios. 4 Basic Versio There are three versios of software. The Basic versio is icluded with each SMRT/MPRT uit. The Advaced ad Professioal versios are optioal. I additio, the optioal Megger GOOSE Cofigurator may be used with ay versio of to coduct automatic tests o IEC relays. The Basic versio icludes olie Vector, Ramp ad Click-O-Fault cotrols, relay testig wizards for most types of relays, the ability to import, save ad execute relay specific test modules created either by Megger or someoe else with either a Advaced or Professioal versio of 4.1. Basic ca also playback a DFR file created usig the Professioal versio of. The followig describes the features of the Basic versio of 4.1. selected, the user ca grab the tip of ay of the selected vectors i the polar graph ad, while holdig the left mouse butto dow, move the vector(s). The values of the vector(s) will chage graphically ad umerically, ad simultaeously pass the ew values directly to the correspodig Relay Test System amplifiers. Some other uique features are: Aux Cotact Check Box- will close a aux biary output cotact coditioal with chage from oe vector state to aother. Edit Custom Prefix Commad- available for each vector state ad allows etry of a formula, Relay Test System sytax, or other cotrollig variable for that selected vector state. Zoom- elarges the polar vector diagram to the full dimesios of the dialog box. Favorites - save a sigle vector, or a set of multiple vectors, with all the parameters to a desired ame for recall at a later time i the Olie Vector Cotrol (Basic Versio) or the Test Editor Vector Cotrol (requires Advaced versio). Save to the ame placed i the edit field will retai oly the selected vector(s) i the vector list. The Edit Customs Prefix Commads are saved alog with the geerator parameters. Olie Vector Cotrol Olie Vector Cotrol The Olie Vector Cotrol, lauched from the Tools meu item, allows the user to have direct cotrol of the Relay Test System. For maual settig of amplitudes ad phases, a gag cotrol is available through the selectio of the vectors (Relay Test System amplifiers) to be cotrolled. The vectors to be cotrolled i gag are selected by usig the mouse to grab ad alter the vector(s) parameters. Vector selectio is made by clickig o a vector chael ame to highlight that vector with its parameters. Should it be desired to simultaeously cotrol more tha oe vector, the user will eed to click o the wated vectors while holdig the keyboard Ctrl key dow to highlight all of the selected vectors (up to 9 voltages or currets with 3 SMRT36 uits). The user may the select from the Draggig Parameters box whether the amplitudes ad/ or phases of the selected vectors are to be active. Oce Set to Variables - selectio replaces the umeric values for all the vector parameters to kow default variable ames. This fuctio is more commoly used for the Vector Cotrol used withi a test developmet i the Test Editor (Advaced Versio), where the variable ames are give values i the Settigs Scree, Variable Watch edit field (a powerful programmig tool i the Advaced versio) i the Test Scree, or i aother cotrol i the Test Editor (Advaced versio) Scree prior to the Vector cotrol. Olie Ramp Cotrol Olie Ramp Cotrol The Olie Ramp Cotrol, lauched from the Tools meu item, allows the user to have direct real time cotrol of the Relay Test System. This cotrol is very similar to the Olie Vector Cotrol. However, where the vector cotrol sequeces through up to 16 differet states, the Ramp Cotrol provides automatic rampig of selected outputs to do pick-up or drop outs tests of amplitude, phase agle or frequecy. Pre-ramp, Ramp 1 ad Ramp 4

5 2 are available for use to be played back through the Relay Test System. With 3 SMRT36 uits itercoected provides cotrol of up to 9 voltages ad 9 currets simultaeously.a timer cotrol is available to eable startig the Relay Test System timer at the executio of either of the ramp states. Similar to Olie Vector Cotrol, Olie Ramp Cotrol provides maual rampig of amplitudes ad/or phases. The gag cotrol is similar through the selectio of the vectors (Relay Test System amplifiers) to be cotrolled. The outputs to be cotrolled i gag are selected by usig the mouse to grab ad alter the parameters (see Olie Vector Cotrol for more details). Aother feature of the Olie Ramp Cotrol is the ability to do Pulse Rampig. Oe advatage of Pulse Rampig is the capability to determie reach poits o multi-zoe distace relays without eedig the defeat the zoe timig elemets. For relays which require a prefault load coditio prior to applyig a fault value, the Olie Ramp Cotrol has a Pre-ramp (Pre-fault) state. This feature allows the user to apply the appropriate load values before Pulse Rampig begis. After applyig a fault value the Ramp Cotrol returs to the Pre-ramp state before the ext value is applied. May of the same features i the Olie Vector Cotrol are also available i the Ramp Cotrol, such as the Zoom, Set Variables ad Favorites. Fault Calculator The Fault Calculator allows the user to automatically calculate fault quatities for phase-to-phase, phase-togroud ad three-phase faults. The user iputs variables for: lie voltage, lie Z with agle, relay volts with agle, relay amps ad compesatio factors K0 or Z0/Z1 ratio. The compesatio factor is applied to both the source Z ad the lie Z for all faults which iclude groud. Theoretical Object File Import or RIO File Import. To test the user simply selects the type of fault desired (Lie to Earth, Lie to Lie etc) ad clicks to set a test poit, either as a Shot, or usig the Search. Multiple test poits maybe selected ad the software will automatically calculate the appropriate test currets ad phase agles based upo the Settigs ad the Fault Type selected. I the Settigs scree the user ca defie Costat Voltage, Costat Curret or Costat Source Z (defied by Source Z, Source Agle ad K). If usig the Search the test will progress dow a lie, usig click ad drag, either as a ramp or a pulse ramp lookig for the relay to operate. Test results are automatically displayed for each test poit. RIO File Import I associatio with the Click-O-Fault test scree, Megger has also icluded a feature called RIO Import. RIO is a file format that defies the operatig characteristic of specific relays. Customers who already have RIO files for their relays ca import them ito the Click-O-Fault RX diagram ready to test. Show below is a RIO file import for a SEL 321 relay. Six shot test poits are defied. Click-O-Fault RIO Import of SEL 321 Characteristic Test Wizards All versios of software come with test wizards. The wizards walk the user through a step by step procedure to create a relay specific test(s). Wizards are available for the most commo types of relays such as, Overcurret, Over/Uder Voltage, Frequecy, Differetial, Distace, Sychroizig ad Directioal. The followig is a brief descriptio of each test wizard. Click-O-Fault Test Scree with Multi-Zoe Mho Distace Relay Overcurret Wizard - Provides automatic pickup, istataeous pickup ad timig. IEEE ad IEC time curve algorithms are provided for automatic evaluatio of the results. Digitized time curves for various electromechaical overcurret relays are also available. For North America relays, a dc target ad seal-i test is available. A test report will provide pass/fail iformatio of the test results. O-Lie Click-O-Fault Cotrol Olie Click-O-Fault, lauched from the Tools meu item, allows the user to quickly test impedace relay characterisitcs. The user ca defie the type of operatig characteristic usig the Theoretical Cotrol, where the user ca select a Mho circle, Ellipse, Tomato or virtually ay operatig characteristic. Characteristics ca also be predefied ad imported usig either the 5

6 Distace Wizard - Perform automatic reach, max agle of torque ad characteristic tests o sigle phase, three phase ope delta or three phase Y coected relays. User may choose betwee fixed voltage ad vary curret or fix curret ad vary voltage. I additio, the user may select mho, les, tomato or other basic distace characteristics usig a pull-dow meu. The test report will provide pass/ fail iformatio based upo user data iput. Directioal Wizard - Perform automatic pickup test o directioal elemets. A report will provide test result. Over/Uder Voltage Wizard - Provides automatic pickup ad timig. A test report will provide pass/fail iformatio of the test results based o user iput. Import, Save, Execute Test Modules Basic users ca import test modules geerated by Megger, or someoe else usig the Advaced or Professioal versios of. Megger provides a library of test modules which icludes umerous relay maufacturers. The user ca execute the tests, save results ad prit results. I additio, users ca playback a Digital Fault Record, which has bee geerated by the Professioal versio of. Database The database is Widows Access compatible. Data is saved i a covetioal tree format to facilitate ease of use. The followig figure illustrates the avigator Relay tab whe is i use. The relay data has bee expaded to illustrate the orgaizatio. The Orgaizatio is the method used to geographically locate the relays istalled i this database. Resized Differetial Slope Test Scree Differetial Wizard - Perform automatic widig pickup, differetial characteristic (slope) test ad harmoic restrait tests. I the figure below, the test result scree was resized usig the mouse ad the widows drag ad drop feature. This allows the operator to more closely examie test poits ad results. The user may the geerate a test report with the test results showig pass/fail based upo iput by the user. This example shows the orgaizatio tree descedig by regio, the substatio, lie, pael ad fially the actual relay i the pael. The relays istalled are the listed uder that locatio. The heirarchial structure of icludes up to 5 levels of orgaizatio. Historical Test Results I additio to showig the locatio of the relays i the system, the user ca also look at the historical test records of ay idividual relay. 7 Test Reports Idividual test results ca be viewed by double clickig o the desired result file. The test report ca either be prited, or exported to Microsoft Word for user customized report geeratio usig compay logo, compay stadard format etc. This icludes possible report requiremets as specified by the Natioal Electric Reliability Corporatio (NERC) PRC stadard. Advaced Versio The Advaced versio icludes all of the features previously described for the Basic versio. I additio, it icludes the very powerful Test Editor, Coectio Editor, Dyamic Cotrol, Aalog Recorder, Basic Programmig Tool, Modbus commuicatios, SS1 File Coector, Edto-Ed test macros, ad geeric pre-costructed relay test modules. Advaced users ca also playback a DFR file created by someoe usig the Professioal versio of. The followig describes the additioal features of the Advaced versio of. Adjustig Ramp Cotrol - Sigle Phase Curret Icremet Coectios Editor A picture is worth a thousad words. It seems like moder relays eed a thousad coectios today, so the Coectios Editor is ideal to show how to coect the test system to the device uder test. Powerful graphic tools are available to show test coectios (see followig Figure). Test Editor Widow Test Editor The real power of is i the Test Editor widow. No more complicated test macros to write or edit. Istead, the user selects from a variety of icos represetig various test macro fuctios. For example, i the Test Editor Widow Figure, certai icos are selected ad coected usig the mouse. The software takes care of the rest. No more theoretical characteristic macros to write either. Simply click o the appropriate ico ad drop ito the test editor widow. What may have take weeks to write usig basic programmig ow takes oly miutes! Coectios Editor Scree provides relay test coectios details The Coectios Images toolbar cotais te available icos for the user to defie each as a image bitmap to import ito the coectio editor scree. This ca iclude schematic iteral diagrams of the relays, or other helpful iformatio. Pictures of other test sets may also be used for illustratio. I additio, the test wizards automatically assemble ad coect the appropriate icos for you. All you eed to do is edit the appropriate cotrol fuctio to meet your specific eeds. For example, usig a right-mouse click o the Ramp Cotrol Ico (i the Test Editor work scree), ad the clickig o the Icremet butto, the user is able to adjust the icremet value of each curret icremet for a pickup test. 7

8 Dyamic Cotrol reclosig sequece press OK to view the waveform capture scree. Whe the Waveform Capture scree comes up, press the Lightig Bolt butto. This will load the data from the SMRT/MPRT test sets resultig i somethig like the waveforms show. The user ca view the actual outputs waveforms as well as ay selected biary iputs ad or biary output cotacts. It should also be oted that the user ca record the complex waveforms that they applied usig the harmoic waveform geerator i the dyamic cotrol. Dyamic Cotrol Scree The Dyamic Cotrol, accessed from the Test Editor Scree, provides the user a easy meas of settigs up multi-state dyamic tests that are ormally associated with trip ad reclosig schemes or performig dyamic ed-toed tests. The figure above shows a example test setup usig the Dyamic Cotrol. Basic Programmig Tool The Basic Programmig Tool provides a meas to either import older test macros ito ad execute legacy test files, or to sed the test system sytax commads to do special test applicatios ot covered by the stadard test modules, geeric test modules, wizards, DFR playback, vector cotrol, ramp cotrol or dyamic cotrol. These commads ca be issued from the Basic Tool ico as part of a special test file. Modbus Commuicatios ow has the capability to commuicate with relays via the Modbus protocol. This allows the user the ability to automatically dowload relay settigs from the relay via the Modbus addressig scheme ito the relay settig scree. I additio ca ow moitor the relay protectio or meterig elemets via the Modbus commuicatios. This meas the user will ot eed to chage the relay outputs, thus test the relay without makig ay chages to the relay what so ever. Istead of the user havig to read the meter values ad maually iput them ito a result scree the software ca ow read the values Geeral Electric UR G60 Modbus Device Settig Scree Display of Recorder Capture Feature i Software SMRT/MPRT Records Voltage ad Curret Outputs, ad Time-Sychroous Displays with Biary Iputs ad Outputs. Dyamic Aalog Recorder I associatio with the Dyamic Cotrol is a aalog recorder, which ot oly records the actio of the biary iputs ad outputs, but it also records the actual aalog waveforms of the outputs, icludig DFR COMTRADE playback waveforms. For example, after ruig a automatically. This feature combied with the Sequece Test feature provides fully automatic testig without user itervetio. As a example, the Geeral Electric UR Model G60 relay device settigs scree ca be see i the above figure. Note the Modbus address for each settig i the relay is defied i the Device Settig scree. I this test module there are 295 settigs that are automatically dow loaded with 117 specific tests that ca be selected as a sequece test. 8

9 SS1 File Coverter SS1 files are geerated usig Power System Simulatio software programs by Electroco CAPE or Aspe Oe-lier. By modelig the power system ad usig the SS1 files, the relay ca the be tested dyamically usig realistic system test scearios. The SS1 File Coverter will read the SS1 file ad create a dyamic state sequece playback file. This file ca be used i two ways. The first method of use is as a stadard dyamic test. Oe applicatio is the testig of impedace relays. By modelig the power system usig simulatio software, the relay ca the be tested dyamically usig realistic system test scearios usig actual lie load coditios. The dyamic test ca be used stad aloe or as part of a more complex test module. The other applicatio is as a Ed-to-Ed playback file, similar to a DFR playback file. Ed-to-Ed Test Capability Ed-to-Ed testig usually ivolves GPS coordiated playback of a digital fault recorder (DFR) record, or a user- defied sigle or multi-state dyamic data playback by the test equipmet. There are two methods to perform Ed-to-Ed tests with the SMRT/MPRT ad software. Oe method requires Advaced usig the Dyamic Cotrol feature or use the SSI Dyamic Test ad Test Editor. Usig the Dyamic Cotrol, the user ca defie pre-fault ad fault states for sigle or multi-state playback, ad iitiate the test usig the pull-dow Actio Commad Wait Exteral (triggers the test from a GPS programmable exteral trigger pulse). Aother method for a Ed-to- Ed DFR Playback test is performed by usig the DFR Waveform Viewer foud i Professioal. The DFR Viewer will allow the user to select the test file (a DFR playback test file) which is the loaded ito the SMRT/ MPRT test system. The test system the waits for a GPS trigger pulse to begi playig back the recordig. Note that oce a test file is created ad saved, usig either the Advaced Dyamic Cotrol or Professioal, that test file maybe trasferred ad executed by ay other PC ruig 3.0 (or higher) Basic, Advaced or Professioal versios, with ay SMRT/MPRT uit. This provides user maximum flexibility of usig ay PC ruig, with ay SMRT/MPRT uit, for ed-to-ed testig. A typical test equipmet set up for Ed to Ed tests is show i the followig figure. It should be oted that eve though the Megger Model MGTR (GPS Satellite Timig Referece) is show, for maximum flexibility ay GPS uit with a programmable output pulse maybe used for coductig ed-to-ed tests with the SMRT/MPRT ad software.
