3 1. Itroductio The Hamlet USB to Parallel adapter is a practical bi-directioal parallel cable that allows you to coect a parallel priter to the USB port of your PC or Notebook. Simply coect your priter's parallel cable to DB25 adapter s coector ad the USB coector to a free USB port o your computer. I additio, the bi-directioal commuicatio allows your computer to receive messages reported by the priter. 4 2. Istallatio The XUPP25 adapter cable is automatically detected by the Operatig System without the eed to istall additioal drivers. 1. Coect the USB to Parallel cable ito a available USB port. Do ot have the priter coected to the cable yet. 2. Widows will detect the cable ad istall the driver automatically. To verify the correct istallatio of the device, ope the Device Maager widow ad check the presece of the "USB Pritig Support" item i the "Uiversal Serial Bus cotrollers" category. Settig up a Priter If you do ot have a priter istalled yet, we recommed you to istall the priter usig the Add Priter Wizard or the driver istallatio disk supplied with your priter. 1. Tur off your priter. Plug the DB25 coector of the USB to Parallel adapter cable ito your priter s cable. 2. Tur your priter ad computer o. 3. Plug the USB coector of the adapter ito a available USB port of your computer. 4. Ope Cotrol Pael à Devices ad Priters folder. 5. Right-click o the priter s ico ad select Properties to ope the properties dialog box of the istalled priter. 6. Click o the Details or Ports tab folder ad select USB001 as the priter port. * * There may be several USB00x ports, i which case you eed to idetify the correct oe. 4
