1 MimioPad Hardware Reference Card Power Button / Status Light: Push down and hold to sync the MimioPad wireless pen tablet to the MimioHub wireless receiver. Repeat this process to add multiple MimioPad tablets to the same MimioHub receiver. Status Light: Off - MimioPad tablet is not receiving power or is off. Solid Green - MimioPad tablet is connected and receiving power; MimioStudio software is running. Flashing Green - MimioPad tablet is connected and receiving power; MimioStudio software is not running. Solid Amber - MimioPad tablet is connected and receiving power; MimioPad tablet is searching for connection to the MimioHub receiver. 2 MimioPad Hardware Reference Card Hardware Components Micro-USB Connection - Connect to computer to charge. Battery-less stylus attaches magnetically at top of the MimioPad tablet. Stylus button creates right-click. Control Select any student using a mobile device* equipped with the MimioMobile app or a MimioPad tablet to give control to that student. Take back control by clicking Control and choosing Teacher device. Give control to another student by clicking Control and choosing that student s device. Collaborate Up to nine mobile devices, MimioPad tablets, or a combination of both can be connected at once. All will be able to work independently on a Notebook activity, and all Collaborate sessions will be displayed at the front of the classroom. For on-the-fl collaboration opportunities, you can use the Quick Collaborate feature from the Launch menu to work on blank Notebook pages. The Collaborate feature can be accessed within the MimioStudio software on the top toolbar. 3 Activation MimioMobile Reference Card Step 1 In MimioStudio software, click on Help > About MimioStudio. Mac: Notebook > About MimioStudio Step 2 The MimioMobile app will be listed as Not Activated. Click on it to select it. Step 3 The Activate button will become available. Click on it to activate the MimioMobile app. Step 4 Copy and paste your unique license number from the into the space provided. Click OK. Note: Use of MimioPad tablets and/or devices with the MimioMobile app requires MimioStudio 11 software. All mobile devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the teacher s computer. * Supported Devices: ipad 2 and higher, ipad mini, ipod Touch (4th generation and higher), iphone (4 and higher), and Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) or higher phone and tablets.

4 Connecting the Teacher MimioMobile Reference Card Step 1 In the MimioStudio classroom software on the computer, click on Tools > Settings > Mobile. Mac: Notebook > Preferences > Mobile Step 2 In the MimioMobile app on the teacher s mobile device,* the teacher should tap on the large QR code image and then point and align his or her mobile device camera at the QR code projected on the whiteboard or computer monitor. Step 3 The MimioMobile app now has full control of your computer. If you ve previously connected Tap on the History tab and choose recent Teacher connection. Note: Use of MimioPad tablets and/or devices with the MimioMobile app requires MimioStudio 11 software. 5 Connecting Students MimioMobile Reference Card Step 1 In the MimioStudio software on the teacher s computer, click on Applications > Class Manager. Step 2 In the Choose Class window, double-click on the class you wish to select, or select the class and click on Start Class. Then click on the QR code to enlarge the code, if needed, for the students. Step 3 In the MimioMobile app on the student s mobile device,* the student should tap on the large QR code image and then point and align his or her mobile device camera at the QR code projected on the whiteboard. Take back control by tapping the available button on the teacher mobile device. Give control to another student by clicking Control and choosing that student s device. When using mobile devices with the MimioMobile app, you have the following open-response assessment options: short answer, essay, and numeric questions. Teacher-Led and Self-Paced Assessment modes are available using the standard MimioVote toolbar at the bottom of the screen. Note that the toolbar must first be enabled. 8 MimioStudio Quick Collaborate In the Classroom By integrating MimioStudio software with your MimioPad tablets and/or mobile devices* enabled with the MimioMobile app, endless opportunities become available to increase student interactivity and engagement in classroom activities. While you can use an existing MimioStudio Notebook activity for collaboration, the Quick Collaborate feature offers unique learning opportunities. These Quick Collaborate lesson ideas can motivate students, encourage active learning, and help them develop key critical-thinking skills. Here are just a few activities to get you started: Language Arts Write various sentences from samples provided and diagram them properly. Provide verbal options of short vowels or consonant blends, and have students write the correct answer. Brainstorm plans for writing before students write a paper. Describe different characters in a story. Read a story and describe the plot, character list, setting, genre, point of view. Write the main idea of a story after readying a passage. Brainstorm plans for writing before students write on paper. (Easier and faster way to modify and change ideas.) Have students describe different characters in a story. Draw a picture representation of vocabulary words. Practice weekly spelling words. Math Diagram ways to solve any type of math problem. Demonstrate geometry proofs. Rapid-fire activities - Using any problem assigned by teacher on board/paper, students solve or answer the problem. Have students write their own word problems in groups, based upon any topic (interest problems, distance problems, etc.), trade their word problems with another group, and answer their problems. Poster presentations Have student groups write to explain a topic and show how an equation like y=3x+1 can be displayed three other ways. Each group can also get different problems. Students present theirs to the class when complete. Homework problem review and sharing. Use assigned fractions and draw shapes that are divided into shaded parts that best represent the fraction. Demonstrate multiplication facts by drawing arrays of images of their choice. Given a number, draw, using base ten blocks. 9 MimioStudio Quick Collaborate In the Classroom Science Solve Punnett Square problems and determine genotype/phenotype ratios. Write chemical formulas and names of formulas, and balance chemical equations. Offer whiteboard presentations showing homework, data analysis of labs, concept review. Brainstorm inquiry-based labs, how to conduct them, and what data to collect. List characteristics of different animal groups to compare and contrast. Diagram various processes such as cell division, the butterfly life cycle, photosynthesis, scientific method. Determine the number of protons, electrons, and neutrons for assigned elements. Draw a representation of an ecosystem food chain or food web. Based on various situations involving forces, draw and label action and reaction forces. Write a hypothesis before conducting an experiment. Social Studies Write three positives/three negatives for any problem in the government, such as illegal immigration. Write down five facts known about the process of electing an official. Write key ideas in bulleted form to summarize an historical event. State capitols challenge - Teacher calls out a state and students have to write down the capitol (or vice versa). Display an historical landmark and students quickly write where it is located. Create a flag drawing that represents a fictional country and what it stands for. Diagram the process of a bill becoming law. Create a timeline of discovery of an event in history. List pros and cons of social issues. Label regions on a map. General Test review strategies. Rapid-fire activities / relay races / review games. Daily warm-ups / bell ringers. Create timelines. Gain an understanding of student knowledge of concepts or vocabulary before teaching, as they write what they already know. Definition competition - Teacher calls out the definition and students write the vocabulary term.
