1 Fire Behaviour Knowledge Base Installation To install the Fire Behaviour Knowledge Base, the user must be sure to have administrative privileges. The installation of the FBKB includes the installation packages of required software to run FBKB. The following programs are installed during the FBKB install process. To avoid software conflict, please be sure to close ALL other programs before trying to install FBKB. For the majority of options provided during the setup the default is to be selected, however attention must be paid to the R/Scilab install, as well as the My SQL Administrator where the options void from the default. 1

28 The following screen will appear: You will be required to perform two tasks in this section; 1) increase the maximum allowable packet size (so you can upload large image and movie files), and; 2) create the data structure where you will be storing your data. 1) Increasing the maximum allowable packet size. a.) On the left, click Health, and the screen will change as follows: 28

29 b.) on the System Variables tab. c.) Under Connections click Networking. Double- max_allowed_packet and enter ) Create FBKB data structure. a.) On the left, click Restore 29

30 b.) On the bottom right click the Open Backup File button. The Backup file FBKB_Tables.sql can be found in \ Program Files\Fire Behaviour Knowledge Base folder. c.) Start Restore on the bottom right to finish. d.) File Close. Creating an MySql Data Source on your PC 1. Go to START Programs Admistrative Tools Data Sources (ODBC). (If this is not here it may be in START Settings Control Panel Data Sources (ODBC)) The ODBC Data Source Administrator Dialog box will appear. the System DSN tab. 30

31 2. the Add button on the right. The Create New Data Source box will appear. From the Name list choose MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver and click Finish. 3. The Connector/ODBC Configure Data Source Name dialog box will appear. Complete as shown. The Password will be the password you set up when installing mysql-essential win32.msi. 4. When finished you can test the connection by pressing the Test button and Ok when finished. 31

32 Running FBKB Run the FBKB from Start Program Files Fire Behaviour Knowledge Base Fire Behaviour Knowledge Base. The first time you run FBKB, you will be required to set up Database Options. Fill in the form as follows: 32

33 Okay. If you are connected to the internet, you will get the following message: Yes to download the latest FBKB master database. Fill in the following form and click Download Master (Name and are required fields): 33

34 If you wish to download the latest master database at a later time, this can be done by clicking Download Master Knowledgebase under the File menu. 34
