1 Caldera 9.20 This document presents most of the new features of the 9.20 upgrade. Caldera 9.20 is a minor upgrade and it will work with existing V9 licenses. However, some of the new features require a new license (see details below). New features Preflight (specific license required) Caldera 9.20 introduces a new feature which allows to check a PDF file before using it in the RIP process. This feature is based on Callas technology. User can choose a Preflight Profile and check the consistency of any PDF file from Fileman or use it automatically with the Hotfolders. A Web report is automatically generated and provided to the user. Preflight requires a new license to be purchased. 1

2 Contour Nesting (specific license required) Caldera 9.20 introduces a new nesting algorithm which allows to save a significant amount of media by nesting real shapes and not only bounding boxes. Very useful for Print-to-Cut workflows this new feature is available from Compose, Step&Repeat and Nest-O-Matik. Contour Nesting requires a new license to be purchased. 2

3 Profile Library This new feature brings to the user the ability to get all existing Caldera ICC profiles on-line. User can request ICC profiles directly from EasyMedia. Please note that from this new version, ICC profiles won't be shipped with the Caldera software. Print Standard: G7 Calibration and Verification Caldera 9.20 enhances the Print Standard Verifier feature which allows to check the quality of a profile with the famous G7 standard. User can print, calibrate and verify his print process from EasyMedia. Requires a valid Process Standard Verifier license 3

4 Image Bar Filtering The image bar in Caldera 9.20 gains new options about filtering and viewing documents. A free text field allows users to filter sets of images by using tags. The research is based on file names, file format and metadata. A new view allows the user to display files by text only to display more images in the same window. 4

5 16 bit colors Caldera 9.20 now includes a full 16 bits color workflow capability. That confers smoother gradients and better printing quality. New Color Management interface A new Color Management settings interface brings together the different color management parameters and adds the capability to honor PDF/X output intents. 5

6 VisualCut & GrandCut Improvements New settings bring to VisualCut and GrandCut new capabilities: Marks placement, edge marks and barcodes positions. The user can now set size limits for each cutter and enable the autorotation of the job to fit the cutter width. ColorBooks A new Color Books type has been implemented: Gradient. It takes two colors and makes a gradient with the specified number of steps. The interface has also been modified: layout and color books settings are split into two tabs. Documentation Documentation has been completed with new manual: Step&Repeat. The Installation manual has been translated to Spanish and Chinese. 6
