3 LOGO INTRODUCTION The visual identity of Trican should be consciously and consistently applied in order to maintain continuity across all its collateral. This will stabilize its persona, secure its impression and maintain its credibility. It will aid Trican in accurately presenting itself as the friendly, frank, honest and professional company that it is. Logo The primary logo is composed of two parts: the bullet and, within it, the Trican company name with a maple leaf in the letter A. The bullet and the typeface must always appear together. 4 LOGO usage specifications SIZE SPECIFICATIONS The maximum size of the logo is determined by its application, provided the guidelines for the required buffer zone are adhered to. The minimum size is 20 mm (1.0 in., 6 px), measured from the far left tip of the bullet to the far right tip of the bullet for print. The minimum size for screen/web is 40 mm (1.573 in., 472 px). For situations where the shape of the identity does not suit the items it is being implemented on, please contact the Marketing and Communication Department. Minimum print size: Minimum web size: 20 mm (1.0 in., 6px) 40 mm (1.573 in., 472px) BUFFER ZONE SPECIFICATIONS As shown below, the box around the logo defines the area of clear space that MUST NOT be overlapped. This applies to all versions of the logo in both negative and positive. The area above, below and on either side of the logo the bullet should always be equal to, or greater than, the exact height of the bullet. These relative proportions should always remain as shown. The proportions have been designed based on the bullet to provide clarity about buffer zones in any situation, regardless of the size of the logo. When it is being reduced and enlarged, the buffer zone expands and contracts in proportion to the logo. The bullet and the letterform are to be treated as one object. 5 LOGO variations primary logos These logos are to be used as a first option. They constitute of mocha filled, white, and transparent versions of the logo. Transparent Logo The transparent logo can only be used against a mocha background, or white background. Any other background colour it is prohibited to use the transparent logo. Mocha Filled Logo White Filled Logo Black Transparent Logo The mocha filled logo can be used against any colour background except a black, or mocha background. The white filled logo can be used against any colour background except a black background. The black transparent logo can only be used against a mocha background, or white background. Any other background colour it is prohibited to use the transparent logo. secondary logos These logos are to be used only when the primary options will not work, and can be used with one colour applications or on difficult backgrounds. Reversed White Full Transparent Logo Reversed White Transparent Logo Reversed Mocha Transparent Logo ONE USE ONLY The Trican logo with the reversed bullet is to be used on the driver s side of a vehicle ONLY, and only on the outside of the vehicle. 6 INCORRECT LOGO USAGES IMPROPER USE OF LOGO To preserve and protect the integrity of our brand, it is the responsibility of all departments and programs to ensure the logo is presented in an acceptable manner, as outlined in this manual. Never place text directly beneath or around the logo Never break the logo apart - elements cannot be used individually Never cut off any part of the logo Never add a drop shadow to the logo Never convert the logo to outlines Never bevel or emboss the logo Never convert the logo to greyscale use the black and white version instead Never use the logo in a colour other than those approved Never add an extra outline or stroke to the logo Never use a low resolution logo for print Never right justify the logo Never attach anything to the logo CANADA Never stretch or alter the logo proportions Never alter the orientation of the logo Never print on top of the logo Never change the logo in any way Never place a logo on the wrong background colour Questions? 7 COLOUR PALETTE PRIMARY COLOUR PALETTE This palette includes specifications for PMS colours on coated stock (C) and uncoated stock (U), when reproduced using 4-colour process (CMYK), when creating PowerPoint presentations (RGB) and websites (hexadecimal code). 50% 30% *NOTE: Trican Red (Maple Leaf ) colour should NOT be used as a design element and can only be used in 2 colour versions of the logo. 9 Corporate slogan corporate tagline The tagline is used as a support tool for the logo and in communications. For consistency, please note that the tagline is presented in upper case letters, with no period at the end of the phrase. Worldwide Knowledge is a lighter colour than the Local Solutions in the 2 colour format.
