2 Overview HBI is the national leader for career training in the building industry. Through certification programs, mentoring, pre-apprenticeships and job placement services, HBI prepares its students including at-risk and underserved populations such as youth, veterans, exoffenders and displaced workers with the skills and experience they need for successful careers in the building industry. 2
3 Logo The HBI logo is a valuable brand asset and should be treated accordingly. The logo should never be modified and should appear on all company materials. Please adhere strictly to the rules and logo usage as outlined here. The HBI logo is a two color treatment. Ideally the logo should be used on a white background for maximum impact and clarity. The logo should only be displayed in its standard blue and green format or in all black or all white depending on the background color. Other colors can be used in coordination with the HBI blue and green. These colors are outlined in the color palette section of this guide. 3
4 Correct Logo Usage On a white background The blue and green of the HBI logo is best used on a white or a light colored background for maximum impact and clarity. ON A WHITE BACKGROUND Printing in black & white When printing in black & white or for single-color printing, the entire logo should be in 100% black or 100% white. ON A BLACK BACKGROUND ON A WHITE BACKGROUND Dark backgrounds It is recommended that you use the all-white version of the HBI logo when printing on a dark background. Exception: In certain applications such as silk screening and embroidering, the blue and green version of the logo may be used on a black background. 4
5 Incorrect Logo Usage The colors of the HBI logo should not be changed or placed on a complex image where legibility is compromised. Incorrect black & white logo usage Do not print the logo in grayscale; it should either be printed in all black or all white. Effects Do not use drop shadows, glows, 3D, or other effects on the HBI logo. Incorrect logo elements Do not use the HBI logo with other graphic elements or shapes. 5
6 Logo Applications There should be a clear area of space surrounding the logo when it s applied to different materials. Text, photos, or graphics should not interfere with this space. White Space The logo should always have the following minimum amounts of space around it. The height of the house icon forms the proper amount of white space. 6
7 Fonts For print and digital uses, titles should use the Avenir font. Avenir Book Avenir Roman Avenir Book Oblique Avenir Oblique Avenir Heavy Avenir Black Avenir Black Oblique When using system standard fonts, Arial can be used in place of Avenir. Arial Arial Italic Arial Bold Arial Bold Italic 7
8 Color Palette A color palette has been selected to represent the HBI brand. The primary color palette should be used predominantly. The secondary color palette should be used as accent colors and in large blocks or color bleed situations. For your convenience, the recommended colors for HBI s corporate materials are listed below using Pantone,,, and codes. Please use Pantone or colors for printed materials and and for online viewing.
