1 Mastercam 2017 Chapter 18 Chapter Airplane Toolpaths for Fuselage Finish Blend A. Hide Top Surface. Step 1. If necessary, open your FUSELAGE file from Chapter 17. Step 2. On the Home tab click Hide/Unhide (Alt-E). Step 3. Click bottom surface, Fuselage body and Shift click rectangle to chain all lines of rectangle. Click End Selection (ENTER), Fig. 1. Shift click rectangle B. Machine Type and Stock Setup. Step 1. If necessary, display Toolpaths Manager. On Surface and solid Fig. 1 the View tab click (Alt-O). Step 2. If Machine Group is not displayed in the Toolpaths Manager, Fig. 1 on the Machine tab, click Machine > Default from the menu. Step 3. Expand Properties (click +) in the Toolpaths Manager and click Stock Setup, Fig. 2. Fig. 2 Step 4. Confirm Stock View is TOP CUT and check Display, Fig. 3. Step 5. Click the left front top corner of the stock to move the origin. After you click corner the arrow will point to corner. Step 6. Key-in X, Y and Z stock dimension: X 9 Y 1.7 Z 2.5 Step 7. Key-in Stock Origin coordinates: X 0 Y -.85 Z 0 Click corner to move arrow in Machine Group Proper- Step 8. Click OK ties. 2 C. Confirm WCS TOP CUT. Step 1. In Status bar at bottom of display, confirm CPLANE, TPLANE and WCS are all TOP CUT, Fig. 4. Step 2. Confirm Top Cut Origin. Use F9 to toggle axes. D. 6 Step 8. Click the Finish blend parameters tab at the top of the dialog box, Fig. 17. Set: Maximum Stepover:.05 Click Total tolerance button. Step 9. In the Total Tolerance dialog box Fig. 18. Set: Total tolerance.001 Check Line/Arc Filtering Settings Uncheck Create arcs in XY Check One way filtering Set Minimum arc radius.005 Cut tolerance 25%. Click OK. 7 Step 10. Back at the Finish blend parameters tab, Click Gap settings button, Fig. 20. Step 11. In the Gap Setting dialog box, Fig. 19. Under Motion, Select Follow Surface(s). Check Optimize cut order. and click OK. Step 12. Back at the Finish blend parameters tab, Fig. 20. Click Advanced settings button. Step 13. In the Advanced Setting dialog box, Fig. 21. Select Only between surfaces (solid faces). Check Skip hidden face test for solid bodies. and click OK. Fig. 19 Step 14. Click OK to close Surface Finish Blend dialog box. Step 15.
