4 THE NFC FORUM LOGO 4 In a crowded marketplace, a strong brand identity sets an organization apart. It distinguishes a proven leader that has earned the trust and confidence of employees, members and consumers alike. A logo is the most identifiable symbol of the organization and should be treated with care so as not to disrupt this instant recognition. This guidebook provides detailed instructions on how to use the NFC Forum logo. The logo must always be reproduced exactly as specified in the following pages and must not be altered or recreated in any way. Following these guidelines will allow us to promote and protect our organization identity in a consistent and meaningful way.

5 LOGO MINIMUM SIZE REQUIREMENTS 5 The NFC Forum logo may be represented and applied in different sizes, depending on its application. The minimum acceptable size of the logo should maintain a width of.75 inch and should never be reproduced smaller. In general, the only instances where the logo should be reproduced in its smallest size of.75 inch in width is when your logo is used in a footer or when it is used as a sign-off on a piece where the topic is more important than the name of the organization. It is recommended, and strongly preferred, that the logo appear in a size proportionate and appropriate to the format its used on whenever possible. The logo should never be used disproportionately large relative to the size of the piece it s placed on. The logo may be used large on banners, posters, exterior and interior signage, and other large size media. However, care should be taken to maintain clearspace and sophistication on all applications. For example, logos on clothing should be proportionate to the item and not used too big. Minimum Size on Printed and Electronic Collateral.75 inch wide

6 LOGO CLEARSPACE 6 For the logo to maintain its integrity and impact, the area surrounding the logo must remain clean and free of extraneous graphical elements. This includes graphics, busy photography backgrounds, typography and any other visual elements in print and digital formats as well as in environmental graphics. The minimum clear space is equal to the full height of the word FORUM (refer to logo shown below). The clearspace requirement is designed to ensure a clear, readable, and legible logo. The minimum space requirement is relative to the size of the logo being reproduced, but regardless of the size of the reproduction, the minimum space shown must be maintained on all four sides of the logo. 7 LOGO COLOR 7 The NFC Forum logo may be printed in Pantone blue 295 (or its CMYK or RGB equivalent), all white on a color background, or the black version as shown below, depending on the application. The logo must always be represented in one of these three versions. No other colors may be substituted, with the exception of using it in metal in signage, if applicable.

8 USAGE OF NFC FORUM LOGO AND N-MARK TOGETHER 8 When used is close proximity, the NFC Forum logo and the N-Mark should not be used at the same size/proportion, in order to establish an effective heirarchy of information. The size in which each logo is used is determined by the content of the piece and whether or not the NFC Forum or the N-Mark is the primary communication. The use of both logos together should not create the potential interpretation that the N-Mark, on its own, is interchangeable with the NFC Forum logo. SInce the N-Mark relates specifically to the wireless interaction between consumer electronics, mobile devices, personal computers, electrical appliances, and NFC-enabled tags, the mark shoud be associated with technology (images and/or text) whenever possible. Equal hierarchy of Forum logo and N-Mark creates confusion of organization identity and N-Mark usage. When possible, relating the N-Mark to technology, or supporting it with copy clearly identifies desired use of the mark, and separates it from the NFC Forum logo. TAP GO (THE COMPLETE NFC INSTRUCTION MANUAL) POOR USAGE OF BOTH MARKS BETTER USAGE OF BOTH MARKS SETTINGS Separation of elements is better, but the N-Mark still competes with the NFC Forum logo, when used at approximatley the same size, and is not specifically related to the technology. The NFC Forum logo represents that the communication is published by the NFC Forum and the N-Mark is specifically related to the technology within the graphic.
