The packaging is based on the following standards: RFC RTP: A Transport Protocol for Real-Time Applications RFC RTP Profile for Audio and Video Conferences with Minimal Control RFC RTP Payload Format for MPEG-4 Audio/Visual Streams RTP/MJPEG The video data is packetized for a MJPEG Video Stream by the Real-Time Transport Protocol (RTP). Audio data is not transferred. The data must be encoded in MJPEG format. The packaging is based on the following standards: RFC RTP: A Transport Protocol for Real-Time Applications RFC RTP Profile for Audio and Video Conferences with Minimal Control RFC RTP Payload Format for JPEG-compressed Video Transfer method The transfer method defines the distribution of audio and video data in the network. Multicast The data packets are transferred via point-to-multipoint connection to a group of receivers (clients) including the specified IP multicast address and port number. The packets have to be transferred only once, the distribution to the members of the group is done for instance by specially configured routers. 42

A member of the group only receives the data packets if it is aware of the multicast IP address and the appropriate application service is available with the specified port number. IP multicast uses the address range from to (Class D). Note that certain IP multicast address ranges are reserved for special purposes. Unicast The data packets are transferred via point-to-point connection to exact one receiver (client) in the network including the specified destination IP address and port number. The receiver only receives the data packets if the appropriate application service is available with the specified port number TTL The TTL value (Time To Live) defines the lifetime of an IP packet. Every router an IP packet passes through reduces the time to live value by one (1). If the value is zero (0), the IP packet is discarded. While preventing IP packets from endlessly circulating in the network due to routing errors, this method stops IP packets from breaking through the limits of the LAN and being sent to the WAN (TTL = 1). According to requirements a TTL value from can be entered. When entering 0 (zero), the default values are used (TTL = 1 for multicast, TTL = 64 for unicast). 9.4 IP-Finder The access to the device with the IP-Finder can be restricted. ¾¾Open the Network settings dialogue via Network > Basic settings. Fig ¾¾Deactivate the Allow IP-Finder network configuration checkbox to protect the network settings of the device from being configurable via the IP-Finder. ¾¾Confirm with OK. 43

9.5 Camera protocol If required from external devices/applications, the camera protocol can be specified. ¾¾Open the Camera protocol dialogue via Network > Camera protocol. Fig Default settings Manufacturer: Dallmeier Type: MicroStreamer ¾¾If required, enter the Manufacturer and the Type of the camera protocol. ¾¾Confirm with OK. 44

10 Video 10.1 Video standard Countries and territories use different broadcasting televisions systems. To ensure a correct video signal transmission, the appropriate video standard for your country must be set at the device. ¾¾Open the Video standard dialogue via Video > Video standard. Fig Note that this dialogue may be locked by external devices/applications. ¾¾Select a Standard. ¾¾Confirm with OK Video settings The Video settings dialogue provides the user-defined image processing adjustment of the incoming video signal. These settings have a direct effect on the recording, not just on the image display on the evaluation station s monitor. ¾¾Open the Video settings dialogue via Video > Video settings... The Video settings dialogue is displayed. Fig

¾¾Note the explanations below. ¾¾Adjust all necessary settings. ¾¾Confirm with OK. ¾¾Check the image in the live video frame in the bottom left of the configuration user interface (if active). ¾¾If necessary, readjust the settings and confirm with OK again. ¾¾Finally close the dialogue with Cancel. You can restore the factory sensor settings at any time by clicking Default. 3dVNC Noise filter The digital 3dVNC Noise filter provides the reduction of image noise. In contrast to analogue filters, the image noise is not reduced by smoothing the image. The temporal 3D filter compares individual pixels in sequential images and identifies typical fluctuations in the colour and brightness values. Only when the fluctuation exceeds a set limit, the pixel will be filtered out. Note that setting the filter for fast-moving objects may result in motion blur. This drawback is due to technical reasons and cannot be completely avoided Encoder settings The audio and video encoding is configured in the Encoder settings dialogue. This dialogue may be locked by external devices/applications Encoder 1 ¾¾Open the Encoder settings dialogue via Video > Encoder settings... The Encoder 1 tab is displayed. Fig ¾¾Note the explanations below. ¾¾Select the encoding standard from the drop-down list Encoder mode. ¾¾Select the frame rate from the drop-down list Frames/Second. ¾¾Select the Resolution (width height in pixels). ¾¾Select the Deinterlacing mode. ¾¾Select the Bitrate. 46

¾¾Select the Bitrate mode. ¾¾Select the GOP-size (only with MPEG). ¾¾If required, activate the B-Frames checkbox (only possible at a GOP-size > 6). Frames/Second The frame rate (value in fps) defines the number of consecutive frames produced per second. The higher the frame rate is, the smoother the video playback. Note that audio encoding is only available at a frame rate of 25 fps (PAL) or 30 fps (NTSC). Bitrate The bit rate refers to the number of bits per second used to encode the video. The more bits are used to represent the video data per second, the higher the quality is. Low bit rate High image compression Small data volume Poor image quality High bit rate Low image compression Large data volume High image quality The most requirements in surveillance systems are met with a bit rate between 4 and 6 Mbps. Bitrate mode The bit rate mode allows configuring a constant or a variable bit rate for the video encoding. The variable mode changes the bit rate in accordance with the activity (changes) in the image. The allowed bit rate variations can be limited by the according percentage value. Example: With a set bit rate of 4 Mbps and a bit rate mode of variable 50 %, the bit rate can vary from 6 to 2 Mbps. Variable bit rates make better use of the available hard disk space. GOP-size GOP (Group Of Pictures) is a variable for specifying how images are used to generate the MPEG data stream. The higher the GOP-size is, the better the image quality, although a higher GOP-size will also result in an increase in the delay. A GOP-size between 6 and 15 generally represents a good compromise enabling good image quality with high compression. A GOP-size of 1 denotes a low compression factor and should only be used for special applications (e.g. multiplex mode). As from a GOP-size of 6 the use of B-Frames can be enabled by checking the appropriate checkbox. This setting also has a positive effect on the image quality but again results in a slight delay. GOP-sizes greater than 15 belong to the extended GOPs. 47

Reverse playback has limited quality (frame drops) with extended GOPs (> 15). Deinterlacing The aim of this function is to enhance the image quality by computationally eliminating the so-called interlace effect, which may occur after merging two fields into a frame, from the frame. However, whether a higher quality can be achieved depends on many factors such as the speed of the motions in the image or the type of output device on the decoder side (digital or analogue monitor). It is therefore not possible to provide a general recommendation to activate or deactivate this function. Therefore, we do recommend that you test the output on the monitor/decoder after the function has been configured. For this purpose, select a playback scene typical for the camera concerned. If the interlace effect can be detected with moving objects i.e. if moving edges are slightly displaced between two fields, this effect can be reduced by activating Deinterlacing. However, the playback thus may be jumpy. In this case the deactivation of this function may, in certain circumstances, result in a smoother playback. Note that Deinterlacing is only possible with a resolution of HalfD1 or higher Encoder 2 Encoder 2 only encodes images to MJPEG format. The images encoded by Encoder 2 can be used for video streaming, accessed via RTSP and sent to an alarm host. ¾¾Select the Encoder 2 tab. Fig Encoder 2 is deactivated by default. ¾¾Activate the use encoder checkbox if required. ¾¾Select the frame rate from the drop-down list Frames/Second. ¾¾Select the Resolution (width height in pixels). ¾¾Confirm with OK. 48

10.4 Audio The audio bit rate setting allows you not only to control the audio quality, but also the amount of required hard disk space to a certain extent. The higher the audio bit rate, the better the audio quality. A higher bit rate, however, requires more hard disk space than a lower bit rate. ¾¾Select the Audio tab. Fig Note that audio encoding is only available at a frame rate of 25 fps (PAL) or 30 fps (NTSC). ¾¾Select the Audiobitrate. ¾¾Confirm with OK. 49

11 Motion detection The motion detection function analyses if and how much two consecutive images differ from each other. If the difference satisfies the set criteria, the function assumes a motion event. Actions/functions which are based on motion events: Recording Event recording SmartFinder 5 Message transfer to alarm host This dialogue may be locked by external devices/applications. The motion detection settings can be tested with the motion indicator in the live video frame. ¾¾Click Motion detection in the configuration menu. Fig ¾¾Note the explanations below. ¾¾Set the Level SAD. ¾¾Select the Sensitivity. ¾¾Confirm with OK. Level SAD Every image is split into sectors, with each being analysed for differences compared to the previous image. The Level SAD (SAD = Sum of absolute differences) defines the minimum level of alteration necessary to mark an image sector as altered. 200 Major changes required 10 Minor changes required 5 Dallmeier system for the intelligent search of motion events within an image 50

Sensitivity The Sensitivity defines the maximum number of objects (linked changed image sectors) that may exist in the entire image. If the number of objects is exceeded, the already detected event will be discarded. The limitation of the number of objects prevents motion event triggering with lots of small changes (e.g. image noise or snowfall). very sensitive 1 object few events sensitive 2 objects normal 3 objects less sensitive 4 objects least sensitive 5 objects lots of events off Function switched off 11.1 SmartFinder To enable the intelligent search for motion events within an image with a Dallmeier recorder, SmartFinder has to be activated. ¾¾Activate the Enable SmartFinder checkbox. Fig ¾¾Note the explanations below. ¾¾Select the Sensitivity. ¾¾Enter the Fade Out Time (s) (value in seconds). ¾¾Confirm with OK. Level SAD Function as described above but the value is predetermined by the system. Fade Out Time (s) This value in seconds defines how long an object (linked changed image sectors) is valid. If another object is detected in the same area during this period, it will not be assessed as a new event but will be discarded. 51

This setting allows reducing the number of events triggered by the repeated motion of the same object. Example: 0 Every object is a new event Very large number of events Sensitivity This function checks the extent to which an old (still valid) object and a new object overlap. If the non-overlapping area is larger than an (internally) set value, the new object will be assessed as a new event. This function therefore represents a refinement of the mechanism set by the fade out time. very sensitive Event even if non-overlapping area is small Lots of events least sensitive Event only if non-overlapping area is very large Few events 11.2 Active areas The motion detection function is active in the entire image area by default. In order to ignore motion events in certain areas, inactive areas can be defined. The current video image is only displayed in the dialogue if Encoder mode > MJPEG is set or Encoder 2 is active (see section Encoder settings on page 46). ¾¾Click Active areas. The Active areas / Encoder 1 dialogue is displayed. Fig Active areas (red) Button Pencil: select active (red) areas Button Eraser: select inactive (green) areas 52

To define inactive (green) areas, proceed as follows: ¾¾Click the Eraser button. ¾¾Move the mouse pointer over the image area, click and hold the left mouse button and draw a rectangle over the relevant area. ¾¾Release the mouse button. ¾¾If necessary, repeat the last two steps until all inactive areas are selected. ¾¾Confirm with OK. Fig Inactive areas (green) To define active (red) areas, proceed as follows: ¾¾Click the Pencil button. ¾¾Move the mouse pointer over the image area, click and hold the left mouse button and draw a rectangle over the relevant area. ¾¾Release the mouse button. ¾¾If necessary, repeat the last two steps until all active areas are selected. ¾¾Confirm with OK. 53

¾¾Select all relevant settings which should be exported to the configuration file by activating the related checkbox. ¾¾Confirm with OK. ¾¾Follow the instructions of the download dialogue and save the configuration file to a data storage device. The configuration file name contains the IP address of the related device Upload The saved configuration file can be transferred to an individual device. This allows the recovery of the configuration of the device that is currently connected. In addition, the configuration file can also be transferred to several devices simultaneously. This is a very effective method of configuring several devices identically in terms of certain configuration groups Configuration recovery To recover the configuration of an individual device, the connection to the device must be established first (see section Connection on page 17). ¾¾Open the Configuration file management dialogue via Service > Configuration file > Upload... Fig ¾¾Click Browse. ¾¾Select the relevant configuration file on your data storage device. ¾¾Confirm with OK. At the end of the transfer the list of transferred (or skipped) configuration settings is displayed Configuration transfer to several devices As a precondition all relevant devices must be located in the same LAN (with suitable cabling and a separate IP address for each device). In addition, the access rights to all devices must be identical (same user name and password). Before the configuration file can be transferred, it must be saved as described above. However, the configuration of the Network settings must not be included in the configuration file. If these settings were included, the same IP address would be transferred to all devices. Since, however, every IP address in a LAN must be unique this would cause massive problems in the network. 59

NOTICE Ensure that the configuration of the Network settings is not transferred to several devices. To send the configuration file to several devices, the connection to one of the devices must be established first (see section Connection on page 17). ¾¾Open the Configuration file management dialogue via Service > Configuration file > Upload... Fig ¾¾Click Browse. ¾¾Select the relevant configuration file on your data storage device. ¾¾Activate the Broadcast checkbox. ¾¾Enter the First IP address and the Last IP address of the relevant device group. ¾¾Enter the Username. ¾¾Enter the Password. ¾¾Confirm with OK. 63 14 Image transmission The device can be configured as active network component for streaming of audio and video data (see section Video streaming on page 41). In addition the device, as a passive network component, can be triggered for transmission of audio and video data via various transport and data protocols by external devices and applications Web browser Current video data can be retrieved as a single image (JPEG) by any web browser. Transmission protocol HTTP Transport protocol TCP Port 80 Note that the used Encoder must be set to MJPEG. the used Encoder must be activated. the JPEG live access right must be activated. Use the following retrieve expression for the various encoders: Encoder 1 Encoder 2 address of the device/live/image0.jpg address of the device/live/image1.jpg The displayed image can be refreshed anytime. The retrieve expression can be integrated in a HTML (JavaScript) page that refreshes the image automatically RTSP application The live video can be retrieved and controlled (start and stop) by external RTSP capable applications. This function does not affect the Video Streaming function (see section Video streaming on page 41). Communication protocol RTSP Transmission protocol RTP Transport protocol UDP Port

Note that UDP provides data transmission with a relatively low delay. packet loss (lack of images) may occur during transmission. the used Encoder must be activated. the RTSP live access right must be activated. Use the following retrieve expression for the various encoders: Encoder 1 Encoder 2 rtsp://ip address of the device/encoder1 rtsp://ip address of the device Encoder 1 and 2 can be retrieved by two applications simultaneously. This allows realizing a dual streaming functionality (two streams with different quality). The required bandwidth rises proportionally when several applications request the data of one encoder. In this case a multicast configuration should be preferred, because it requires the bandwidth for one stream only. 64
