1 1.0 Issue With effect from 2007, Daylight Saving Time (DST) for U.S. will begin on the second Sunday in March at 0200 hrs and end on the first Sunday in November at 0200 hrs. The clock will spring forward from 0159 hrs to 0300 hrs when DST takes effect, and fall back from 0159 hrs to 0100 hrs when it ends. 2.0 Resolution This Technical Bulletin is dedicated to guide users to upload the DST patch files onto the existing Access Easy Controller (AEC). This will allow the system to adapt to the new DST changes. Note: This patch file is only applicable for all AEC Software Kit in US English (i.e. AEC-SW1-USE) which is affected by the changes in DST. Verify the last digit of the AEC software version reflected on the login screen. Eg, AEC , where -1 means US English. 2.1 Preliminary Administrations Before the patch can be upgraded onto the Access Easy Controller, user will need to:- 1) Copy the patch onto the PC desktop. Note that the patch is in a zip format. Eg. DST_Patch_SW1.zip. 2) Create a new folder, eg, DST Patch on the PC desktop. This is to save the files that will be extracted from DST_Patch_SW1.zip. 3) Extract the zip file into this new DST Patch folder. After extraction, there will be 2 files and 1 folder; namely: wc001, db_tar.gz and Patch_42 in DST Patch folder. Bosch Security Systems Page 1 of 7

2 Note: The file db_tar.gz has a file extension.gz. If.gz does not appear, it is due to the setting of Hide file extensions for known file types in the folder settings. Please refer to appendix for more details. 2.2 Upgrading wc001 wc001 will be first upgraded onto the Access Easy Controller. 1) Login to the panel. Take note of the AEC software version reflected on the login screen. Eg. AEC ) On the main menu, select Panel Admin. 3) On the left menu, select Panel Setup. 4) Check that the IP address of the PC is registered under Remote PC Address. Otherwise, register the PC s IP address in any of the available fields then click on the save icon to save the setting. For more information, please refer to the attached Appendix. 5) Select Update Flash under Panel Maintenance from the left menu. 6) Click on to select the file to be uploaded. In this case, select the file wc001. 7) Click on to upload the file. 8) Click on to upgrade the file to the system. 9) Once the file has been upgraded to the system, AEC will prompt user to reboot the system in order for the changes to take effect. Reboot is COMPULSORY at this stage. 10) Select Reboot Panel from the left menu. Bosch Security Systems Page 2 of 7

3 2.3 Upgrading db_tar.gz To upgrade db_tar.gz onto the system:- 1) After rebooting, login to the panel. Notice the software version reflected on the login screen. Eg. AEC (DST)-1. 2) Upload and upgrade the file db_tar.gz to the system by following step 5 to 8 as in the previous section 2.2 above. 3) Rebooting after upgrading db_tar.gz is optional. 2.4 Upgrading Files in Folder Patch_42 The folder Patch_42 contains five files; namely: wc001, wc002, wc003, wc004 and wc005. These five files need to be upgraded onto the system. 1) Repeat instructions from section 2.2, step 6 and 7 until all the five files are shown in the List of Uploaded Files field; then execute step 8. 2) After all the files have been successfully upgraded onto the system, rebooting the system is COMPULSORY for changes to take effect. 3) After reboot, take note that the AEC software version on the login screen is changed to ) AEC is now successfully upgraded to support the change in DST. - End of Document - Bosch Security Systems Page 3 of 7

4 3.0 Appendix and Additional Information 3.1 Procedure to Upgrade a File to the Panel. 1. Login to the panel. 2. Before patching the panel, please make sure that the IP address of the PC is registered in the Remote PC Address in the Panel Setup page. If it is not registered, please register your PC by specifying your PC s IP address. Step 1) Click on Panel Setup. Step 2) Input your PC s IP address here. Bosch Security Systems Page 4 of 7

5 3. How to upload and upgrade a file to the system. Step 1) Click on the link Update Flash. Step 2) Click on the link Browse to select the correct file. Step 3) Click on the link Upload File to upload the file. Step 4) Click on this link to finally upgrade the files to the system. Note: If you want to update more than one file, please repeat step 2 and 3, before doing step If the files are upgraded successfully, it will ask you to reboot the system. The latest US DST changes for the following time zones have been implemented:- 1) GMT -8 Pacific Time (US & Canada) 2) GMT -7 Arizona 3) GMT -7 Mountain Time(US & Canada) 4) GMT -6 Central Time (US & Canada) 5) GMT -6 Mexico City 6) GMT -5 Eastern Time(US & Canada) 7) GMT -4 Atlantic Time(Canada) Bosch Security Systems Page 5 of 7

3.2 Disable Hide File Extensions for Known File Types Upon extracting the files from DST_Patch_SW1.zip into the folder DST Patch, there will be 2 files and 1 folder; namely: wc0001_dst, db_tar.

6 3.2 Disable Hide File Extensions for Known File Types Upon extracting the files from DST_Patch_SW1.zip into the folder DST Patch, there will be 2 files and 1 folder; namely: wc0001_dst, db_tar.gz and Patch_42 in DST Patch folder. Note that the file db_tar.gz comes with the file extension.gz, which will not appear if the Hide file extensions for known file types option was enabled in the folder setting. To disable the option:- 1) Double click on the folder DST Patch to access the folder. 2) Select Tools from the menu at the top of the folder. A drop down menu will appear. 7 3) A Folder Options pop up window will appear with 4 tabs, namely General, View, File Types and Offline Files. Select View tab 4) Click on the box of Hide file extensions for known file types to disable the option in the Advance settings: option field. 5) After disabling the option Hide file extensions for known file types, click on to enable the setting. Step3) Click on View tab Step 4) Click on the box to disable option Step5) Click on Apply to enable the setting. 6) Return to the folder DST Patch.
