If you don't see it, you can click on "Start", Programs, SMART Technologies, and SMART Notebook, as seen in the image below. Dec 14 8:41 AM 1

4 Now I am going to demonstrate how to use SMART notebook by setting up a T chart. There are several ways you can do this. Dec 14 8:59 AM To take notes with a pen, Dec 14 9:03 AM 4

5 Pick up a pen from the pen tray. Press the tip of the surface, touch with intent, begin writing or drawing. Dec 14 9:05 AM To take notes with your finger, select a pen tool from the tool bar. Press the tip of your finger to the surface of the board. Make sure the tip of your finger is the only point of contact you have with the board. Dec 14 9:08 AM 5

6 To write notes with your computer keyboard, select the Text tool (letter A) from the toolbar. Begin typing. You may want to transfer some of your handwritten notes into text to clean up the page. Choose the select tool from the tool bar. Click on your handwriting. Click the drop down arrow and select the work you would like to recognize. Dec 14 9:11 AM Now we can finish the chart. Pro Chart Con To create lines for the diagram, select the line tool from the tool bar. Click inside the page area and drag horizontally to create a line. Dec 14 9:16 AM 6

10 The Magnifying Glass Effect On a blank page, type the information you want to hide and reveal. Change the font color to match the background color. I hope you are having a wonderful day! Click the gallery tab and type Magnifying glass to search. Select the first one. Click the properties and select Fill Effects. A darker color will work the best. Click and drag the magnifying glass over the hidden text. 12 Creating and Customizing Pull Tabs Click the gallery tab and search for Pull Tab. Select the pictures folder for several different styles and colors to choose from. Click and drag the desired pull tab into a blank page. Dec 19 10:45 AM Why did the chicken cross the road? Pull Dec 19 10:56 AM 12

13 Balloon Pop Tool Type in the information you want to hide and reveal. In the gallery, type "balloon pop" in the search bar. Select the Interactive and Multimedia folder. 14 Erase to Reveal Type what you want to hide and reveal. Then select a pen and make it thick. Select the same color as your background. Draw over the text you want to reveal. Then erase! It works for pictures too! 15 Hardware Basics The Pen Tray each slot has an optical sensor to identify when a pen tool or eraser has been picked up. If a pen is missing, cover the sensor with a sticky note. The buttons on the pen tray are for the on screen keyboard and to right click. To clear a large area of digital in, draw a circle around it with the eraser and tap in the middle. The ready light indicates the status of the board. When you turn on your computer, this light is red, then it will turn green. Sometimes you may need to toggle the input button to get the green light on.
