4 Controlling the DART-SVP from your PC The DART-SVP controller runs a web server that you can connect to using an Ethernet cable and view inside a web browser. There is no software to install and it works on any modern operating system. Setting up Network Connections: In order to communicate with the DART-SVP, your computer needs to have a static IP address. Please follow the instructions in the SVP Network installationn manual. Accessing the DART-SVP in your web browser: Once your network connections are set up, power on your DART-SVP.The Ethernet connection that it is connected to should become active. Open your PCs web browser. We strongly recommend using the latest version of firefox. Navigate to this address: / You should see a page that looks like the one below:

5 DART Software Overview The DART software has three main pages for controllingg the DART source and automation. Go to the page by clicking on its name or icon. Note: You can navigate the entire user interface using only the keyboard. Presss the tab key to cycle between interactive areas.. Press enter to activate the selected choice.

6 Free Run Page The main page of the DART software is called the Freee Run page. From this page the user has the ability to manuallyy control Linear Rail #1 (X) and the DART source.

9 Connection: The web page is communicating with the DART controller. Interlock: The DART source is properly connected. High Voltage: The DART is running and creating ions. Heater Temperature: The actual temperature inside the DART source.

10 Methods Page Methods enable you to automate your sampling process for greater reproducibility. This version of the software comes with 5 preinstalled methods for you to use. Future software updates may bring addi-tional methods and features.

11 Run the Method:

12 Pause the Method: While the method is running, you can pause at any time and resume from where you left off. This causes the rail to stop moving. No additional method steps will be processed, but the gas will stay on and the heater will continue to go to the temperature that it was set to. Pausing does not stop the timer when the method is waiting for a set period of time. Resuming will go right into the next step if the original timer period has expired.

13 Edit the Method : Each method has its own parameters that can be edited. Use the text input boxes to change the values and click the save button to commit the changes and return to the run screen. The software will prevent you from entering invalid data. Pressing the back button will return to the run screen without saving your changes.

Grid Voltage: Change the voltage of the grid for each Ion Mode Default Gases: Controls which gas is selected when entering run and standby modes. X / Y Rail Type: Choose which side the motor is on. Dual Rail Control: Manually control both the X and Y rail.
