1. Master data adjustment The user interface of imos Plan 2.0 has undergone major changes in comparison with the classic imos. The imos Manager has been removed entirely from the user interface. In its place we have added a multi-function toolbar on the left-hand side. imos Plan 2.0 focuses on as much intuitive interaction with the application as possible. Unnecessary operating elements have been removed and default settings chosen so that they facilitate a quick and smooth introduction for the PoS. imos Plan 2.0 4
2. Interface The user interface of imos Plan 2.0 is divided into three areas. The quick access toolbar is on the left-hand side of the screen, the main area is filled with the drawing/planning area and the status bar is at the bottom of the window. imos Plan 2.0 5
2.1 Quick access toolbar The imos menu bar is displayed in the form of a quick access toolbar on the left. The Menu is based on a graphic operating concept that combines the elements menu control and toolbar with one another. This sees command groups formed that display the respective element when clicked. The following groups are available to you: Roomplan Catalogs Output Tools If a function is selected in these groups, a larger window opens in many cases where you can make further selections and settings. To close the window again, simply click the Close button in the header. imos Plan 2.0 6
3. Assistants 3.1 Design Manager The Design Manager can contain several catalogs. To open a catalog, simply click the small drop-down arrow. To make your selection, simply click the respectively required subdirectory. The selected article will then be opened in the Configurator. imos Plan 2.0 7
3.1.1 Global Settings To change global settings, click the gearwheels in the catalog. You can adapt the standard settings for an order by changing the global settings. The settings made here are then the default values for all articles added to the order. For example, it is possible to define the color of the carcase or front as well as the handle used. imos Plan 2.0 8
The global settings are divided across several tabs. To move to the next area, simply click the arrows or the corresponding tab above at the top of the screen. Hint Which settings it is possible to make here depends on the catalog being used! Search The search bar is also located in the header toolbar of the catalog. The search function searches through the list of names. Hint No difference is made between upper and lower case. So-called wildcards, in other words placeholders, are not allowed. imos Plan 2.0 9
3.1.3 Configurator Using the Configurator it is possible to configure articles and include them in orders. The Configurator is divided across several tabs. Hint Which settings it is possible to make here depends on the XML being used! imos Plan
3.2 Roomplan Using the Roomplan it is possible to insert rooms (walls, floors, ceilings) as well as doors and windows into an order. To insert a room, simply click the symbol of a square room in the quick access toolbar. A room consisting of standard dimensions 6000mm x 4000mm is then inserted into the planning area together with a floor and a ceiling. For further details read chapter 4.1. Create Room. imos Plan
3.2.1 Visualising a Room Basically, the software automatically suppresses the display of elements that could prevent the user from viewing the planning area of a room. In other words, the ceiling is automatically temporarily invisible in the top view as are the walls in the isometric view if they prevent seeing inside the room. imos Plan
4. Planning 4.1 Create Room Using the Roomplan it is possible to insert rooms (walls, floors, ceilings) as well as doors and windows into an order Walls / Room Insert To insert a room, simply click the symbol of a square room in the quick access toolbar. A room consisting of standard dimensions 6000mm x 4000mm is then inserted into the planning area together with a floor and a ceiling. imos Plan
To check the dimensions of the wall you must highlight the corresponding element in the drawing area. The properties of the dimensions are then displayed. If several elements are selected, only those values are displayed that are the same. Hint To remove highlighting, simply press the Esc key Change Dimensions There are 3 possibilities to change the dimensions of a wall: 1. You select the corresponding wall element and change the dimension in properties (e.g., the length). imos Plan
2. Using the mouse, select an endpoint of the wall and drag it to a new endpoint. 3. Or using the mouse, select an endpoint of the wall and enter the dimension via the stretch point. imos Plan
Hint If the function Orientation is activated in the quick access toolbar, the dimensions of the other walls will change accordingly so the room will remain rectangular. Moving objects with activated function. Moving objects with deactivated function. imos Plan
Move wall To move a wall, it must be snapped in the middle; then it is possible to move the wall to any position desired. The other walls of the room are automatically moved accordingly. imos Plan
Single wall or wall contour To create a single wall or a wall contour, you have to click in the quick access toolbar on the icon Insert wall object. A single wall can be placed in a space of the room. Moving the mouse changes the length and the orientation of the wall. Tip With the corresponding adjustment it is possible to create pillars, pedestals, half-height dividers and similar constructions Change dimension of a single wall contour In contrast to a complete room, it is possible to change the insertion height of a single wall object subsequently. imos Plan
Create a Room Corner To create a room corner in an already existing room, you have to click in the quick access toolbar on the icon with the room corner. Depending on where the mouse pointer is clicked in the room, either a room corner is created imos Plan
or the room is enlarged. imos Plan
Slope in Room To slope a room corner, you must click in the quick access toolbar on the icon with the slope. A slope is created depending on where the mouse pointer is clicked in the room. The slope is always generated with an angle of 45 and in the corner closest to the snap point of the mouse. Tip It is possible to retrospectively alter the angle in the properties. imos Plan
Delete Walls To delete a single wall or a complete room, you have to select them and delete them with the DEL-key. When deleting the whole room, you will receive a confirmation prompt asking if you really want to delete the room. Hint If a single wall is deleted, imos attempts to create a closed room again. Consequently, it is not possible to delete a single wall in a rectangular room. If, for example, both walls of an inside corner are deleted in a room (it is not possible to delete just one wall), imos Plan automatically creates a rectangular room again (see below). imos Plan
Properties of Walls It is possible to set the following properties for walls: Wall Thickness Height Defines the thickness in mm Defines the room height in mm Length Displays the current length of the wall. Please refer to 0. Change Dimensions. Orientation This synchronization (consistency check) can be carried out for the following data types: Angle If the function Orientation is activated in the quick access toolbar, the dimensions of the other walls will change accordingly so the room will remain rectangular. The definition determining which material is displayed here can be undertaken in the color principle in the Element Manager. Please refer also to 6.5. Define Materials for Room Planner. Displays the angle of the currently selected wall. If several walls are highlighted at the same time, no value is displayed here. imos Plan
4.1.2 Windows and Doors In the Room Planner it is equally possible to insert windows and doors in previously inserted walls. To view a list of all available windows, simply expand the drop-down list. Move the pointer over the individual preview images to receive a further description of the elements. To insert a window or door, simply click the desired element. The selected element is then inserted into the room where it can be positioned as required. The insertion point can either be defined by selecting the point with the pointer or by means of known coordinates. imos Plan
Properties of Windows and Doors It is possible to set the following properties for windows and doors shown on the left: Ceiling When a ceiling previously inserted in a room is selected using the pointer, it is possible to define the following properties for that ceiling. To highlight a ceiling, simply switch to the top view and select the inner part of the room with the pointer. The ceiling and floor are automatically highlighted. It is then possible to configure the properties of both elements. Materials The selection can be made via the Color principles in the Element Manager. Please refer also to 6.5. Define Materials for Room Planner. Frieze With this function it is possible to create a suspended ceiling. All profiles are displayed here that were defined via a DWG and are saved in the directory <Library>\SectionDWG\Ceiling. imos Plan
4.1.4 Floor When a floor previously inserted in a room is highlighted using the pointer, it is possible to define the following properties for that floor. To highlight a floor, simply switch to the top view and select the inner part of the room with the pointer. The ceiling and floor are automatically highlighted. It is then possible to configure the properties of both elements. Materials The definition determining which material is displayed here can be undertaken in the Color principle in the Element Manager. Please refer also to 6.5. Define Materials for Room Planner. The baseboards receive the same material as the floor. Baseboard height Baseboard thickness A right-angled baseboard is generated for the whole room with the aid of the definition of the baseboard height and width. A right-angled baseboard is generated for the whole room with the aid of the definition of the baseboard height and width. imos Plan
4.2 Configurator- Change Global Settings Before planning articles, it is advisable to first configure the global settings according to customer-specific requirements. Please refer to Global Settings. 4.3 Inserting Articles When the required article is selected in the catalog, it becomes attached to the mouse pointer and can be inserted into the previously created room. The wall is recognized automatically and it is possible to place the article in the desired position by moving it along the wall. It is also possible to align this article with an element that has already been placed in the planning area Chain Function It is possible to retrospectively alter the position of several articles simultaneously using the article chain function. That means, for example, that articles and contiguous parts will be moved automatically if the position of another article in the article chain is changed using the following functions: Move/Rotate Change width Delete imos Plan
4.3.2 Move Article Retrospectively It is possible to move an article retrospectively using the function Move in the quick access toolbar. When the function is called you are requested to select the article or articles to be moved. To confirm your selection, press Enter. The article is then attached to the mouse pointer, and it can be moved to a new position. If the article was inserted together with contiguous parts (base, work surface), the chain function is activated and you are prompted to confirm if the positions of the contiguous parts are also to be updated. Confirm the prompt with Yes, so that the contiguous parts are also moved accordingly. imos Plan
4.4 Inserting Decorations To insert a decoration article, simply click the desired article and you can place it in any position in the room. 4.5 Delete an Article To delete an article from the planning area, simply highlight the article to be deleted and then press the Del key. If a contiguous part (work surface, base etc.) was inserted together with the article, you will first be prompted to confirm if the contiguous part is also to be deleted. Answer the prompt with Yes to remove all of the elements! imos Plan
4.6 Modify an Article If modifications are to be made to an article that apply to the material or the handles used (all properties that can be set via the Design Manager), select the function Modify article in the group System in the quick access toolbar. Then you must select the article that is to be modified. Once you have made your selection the Configurator opens. You can make the desired modifications in this dialog box. If you leave the dialog box via the function Save article, the modifications are applied to the inserted article. Hint If the dimensions of an article are altered, the chain function is activated and you are prompted to decide which other articles are to be moved. imos Plan
5. Output 5.1 Render The visible section is always rendered with the current view. 5.2 Create Drawing Views It is possible to create a variety of drawing views in the Output group in the quick access toolbar. The following displayed functions are available: Hint All existing functions are associative derivations. That means if changes are made to the original drawing, the 2D drawing derivatives do not need to be adapted manually, but rather the changes to the original are applied to the derivatives automatically. imos Plan
5.2.1 Create 2D Plan View Creates a plan view whereby a section is placed through the order slightly above the highest selected element. After the function is called up, all elements must be picked that are to be included in the section Create 2D Elevation View Creates a section derived from a 2D plan view (see 5.2.1). The section plane is defined by means of a reference flag, for which it is possible to define an insertion point and a rotation angle. If the insertion point is defined, the rotation angle must be defined in the drawing and, with that, the view direction and the section plane. It is possible to define the rotation angle by moving the pointer. The reference flag rotates in 90 steps. The dashed line symbolizes the section plane View Dimensioning Dimensions the outside article dimensions of a section. When the function is called up you will be requested to select the block reference. Pick the section to be dimensioned using the pointer. imos Plan
5.2.4 Refresh View With this function it is possible to alter or check the current settings of the selected section Load Drawing Border With this function it is possible to load a border to output drawings. Tip Detailed descriptions are available on the topic Create drawing views in the corresponding training documentation. imos Plan
6. Create data The following description of how to create data applies to the full version of imos. 6.1 Catalogs The catalogs are defined in XML files, which are stored in the <Library>\XML directory. A detailed description of definitions within XML is provided in separate documentation. If you have any questions, please contact a member of your service team. imos Plan
6.2 Article The basic information about an article, which is inserted via the catalogs, is defined in the Article Designer. Detailed information about creating data is available in the corresponding training documentation. Two points are worthy of note here: 1. Definitions of insertion points and snap points on an article 2. Automatic insertion of work surfaces and base valences Both definitions can be configured via the Article category. An article category can be allocated to each article at the highest level. imos Plan
6.2.1 Article Category The article categories are managed via the Element Manager. It is possible to determine the reference point or points of the article via the article category. In addition, it is also possible to define for the article if contiguous parts are also to be inserted at the same time. It is possible to define the insertion point for the article mode via the Snap node in the properties. Several snap points can be defined! Where possible you should define snap points on two sides to ensure the article chains function! It is possible to define via the Contiguous parts node if a contiguous part, in other words a base, work surface, light strip or crown moulding should also always be inserted together with the article. imos Plan
The insertion height and height reference point can also be defined via the insertion position node. It is also possible to define the insertion height by means of a variable number. The height reference point defines if the defined insertion height is calculated from the top or from the bottom. 6.3 Decorations Create in Article Designer To create data for decorations the DWG file is available as division type in the Article Designer. imos Plan
It is possible to define in Options if the DWG should be extended or not when the dimensions are altered. 1. If Yes is defined for Extend, the linear divisions are greyed out and the dimension of the DWG is determined by the dimension of the article. That means if the dimension of the article is altered, the dimension of the DWG is also altered. 2. If No is defined for Extend, the settings for the linear division are displayed and it is possible to define the insertion point of the DWG within the zone. In this case, the dimension of the DWG always remains the same when the article dimensions are altered. imos Plan
6.3.3 Information in the Article Center The following information must be defined under Details in the Article Center to allow the article to be displayed in the list of decorations: In Decoration Catalog -> Yes Is Purchased Part -> No imos Plan
6.4 Define Cutouts in Purchased Parts In Article Designer The cutouts for sinks, hobs and similar installed items can be defined directly at the purchased part in the Article Designer. For this purpose the purchased part is inserted as a DWG file in an article (please refer also to 6.3. Decorations) The inserted DWG automatically generates cutouts via the integrated polyline. Consequently, when the purchased part is inserted this cutout will automatically apply to all parts that are in its area. Moreover, it is possible to define further CAM information for the cutout via the function of the same name: Another dialog box then opens in which it is possible to configure the CAM parameters for the cutout. imos Plan
6.4.2 Information in the Article Center The following information must be defined under Details in the Article Center to allow the purchased part to be displayed in the list of decorations and as a purchased part in the bill of materials: In Decoration Catalog -> Yes Is Purchased Part -> Yes 6.5 Define Materials for Room Planner The definition determining which material is displayed in the properties of the Room Planner is configured in the Color principle. imos Plan
6.6 Frieze The profiles for the frieze are defined via a DWG. This must be saved in the directory <Library>\SectionDWG\Ceiling. The profile consists of 2D lines. imos Plan
If lights are to be placed in the frieze, the light source must be defined in the DWG. The distribution of the lights along the frieze is then configured via an attribute. For this purpose, use the attribute LIGHTPOS_LINDIV. imos Plan
6.7 Design Samples Master data adjustment It is possible to create samples from orders. These are then saved as DWT templates to ensure they will not be overwritten. These templates can then be used as Inspiration for new orders Define in Element Manager It is possible to create design samples from existing orders via the Element Manager. imos Plan
The following settings can be undertaken for design samples: Description User editable text. This is then displayed in the Organizer in the detailed information about the order. Search Term imos Order Data Drawing Name Total Price It is possible to search for this item in the Inspirations in the Organizer. All existing orders can be selected from the list in the dropdown menu. The selected order can then be used as a design sample for new orders. Defines the preview image for the template. The total price is displayed in the Organizer in the detailed information about the order. imos Plan
6.7.3 In the Organizer The tab Inspiration is available in the Organizer for the design samples. If an Inspiration is to be used as design sample for a new order, the corresponding template must be selected via this tab followed by the command Open in CAD. A new drawing containing the elements in the template is then opened in imos Plan (without an order name). The file can then be saved as a new order after the desired changes have been made. imos Plan
