1 Business Continuance (Downtime) Computer Instructions On the Business Continuance computer, you can view active patient orders, lab and radiology results, H&P, consultations, ER Visit Summaries, Home Medication Reconciliation and MARs. You can also access the current on-call list and print Business Continuance documentation forms and order sets. For example, DNR, Adult Subcutaneous Insulin Orders, Restraint Order, Blank MAR, Laboratory and Radiology Requisitions, Consults, Consents, etc. Go to a Business Continuance PC - The PC will be identified by a red Business Continuance label Tap in using your ID badge. Click on the Downtime application icon from either the desktop or from Menu (lower left corner). Special Note: If you have not used the Business Continuance PC in the past 6 months, it will not recognize your card. You must have another user tap in for you. Once you have clicked on the Downtime icon, you will be asked to enter your employee number to identify yourself during the patient information access session. Page 1 of 22

2 The Downtime screen displays Enter your Employee/Physician number. This number can be found on the employee badge used for tapping into the computer. Physician, NP and PA numbers are on the CVD ID badge in red font. You will get a message asking you to confirm that it is you logging in. Important Note: After 15 minutes of inactivity, you will be timed out of the session. Simply reenter your employee/physician number to access patient information. Page 2 of 22

3 Click the Goto button You have 5 options Search Screen Individual Patient Search Hospital Census Search for patient by Hospital or Unit Census ER Census Emergency Room Census Oncall Listing Current Physician On-call List Medical Records Forms Business Continuance Forms Assessments, requisitions, H&P, progress notes, consults, consents, etc. Page 3 of 22

4 Selecting your patient Search for your patient by individual search criteria or Hospital census. For an individual patient search, you have a variety of options: MR# Last name Patient ID/Acct# Social Security Number Date of Birth Admission Date Page 4 of 22

5 Or you can search by Hospital/Unit Census Click Hospital Census Page 5 of 22

7 Select your patient The following message displays before the patient information displays. Click Yes Page 7 of 22

8 Viewing and printing your patient Information First, confirm you have selected the correct patient on the Patient Home Page. Click the appropriate ancillary text at the top of the screen. Important Note: Confirm you have the correct patient! Page 8 of 22

9 Viewing Lab Results Click on the lab test you want to view. If you want to view multiple results, click the checkbox in front of the lab test and then click the View/Print button. Page 9 of 22

14 Viewing/printing the MAR You have 3 MAR options Finishing Day MAR The previous day 07:31 to 07:30 the current day Current Day MAR Today 07:31 to 07:30 tomorrow Upcoming Day MAR Starting tomorrow morning at 07:31 to 07:30 the next day You will print the Current Day MAR, and depending upon what time the system went down, will indicate whether you want to print the Finishing Day MAR or the Upcoming Day MAR. For example, If the system went down at 04:00, you will print Current Day MAR and Upcoming Day MAR. If the system went down at 09:00, you will print Current Day MAR and Finishing Day MAR. 15 Sample of Current Day MAR Click the print button in the upper left corner. Important Note: A snap shot of the patient medication information is taken every hour. Keep in mind that if a medication or IV was administered within the hour it may not display on the Current Day MAR. The MAR should be checked for inclusion of any new orders (look in Pyxis) entered within 60 minutes and if not present, should be transcribed onto the downtime MAR by hand. Page 15 of 22

20 Document Access During the network interruption, you may need to chart or order on paper. To access these forms, click Goto and then click Medical Records Forms. Select the appropriate folder. Page 20 of 22

21 Select the form and then click the print button. Log off and tap out once you are finished viewing/printing patient information. Page 21 of 22

22 The system interruption is over Re-activating your PC after the interruption is over. Tap out of the Business Continuance PC and tap in again - the Downtime icon is no longer displaying on the desktop. No longer displays on the desktop once the interruption is over Page 22 of 22
