1 MYOB Beginners Course using MYOB Accounting v18 Preface This workbook has been written to cover the entry of Cash Book, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable transactions using MYOB Accounting, [Plus, Premier and Enterprise] using version 18. The participant explores a data file already set up to become familiar with the various Command Centres in MYOB Accounting. The participant then learns how to enter data including cash receipts and payments, sales invoices, debt collection, customer payments, purchase invoices and supplier payments. Some inventory is included. Reconciliation of bank accounts, debtors and creditors is carried out. The customising of invoices is also covered. A variety of reports are printed to expose the user to a number of basic reports to report on Debtors and Creditors and the financial position of the business. This workbook contains detailed step by step instructions with the aid of screen dumps to assist the user to learn MYOB Accounting and assure the user that the data is being entered accurately. The outstanding feature of this book is the drilling down of transactions to explain what is happening in the data file to assist in the understanding of how MYOB Accounting works. Two consolidation exercises are also included. Anticipated time taken by the average user to complete this workbook is 12 hours. 3 Unit 3 Using Help Learning Outcome Use Help and other resources available to solve operational problems and assist in the running of a business. Accessing Help Before entering any data in MYOB, you will explore the resources available for getting help needed to solve problems, answer questions or find out more about the program. The Help function available within MYOB is like having a quick reference manual at your fingertips. Accessing Help (i) (ii) (iii) Your INTRO18 data file should still be open. If not, open the file. Select the Banking Command Centre button. Select the Spend Money function box. Help can be accessed at any time by pressing the Help function key, F1 or selecting the Help F1 button in the bottom left-hand corner. This will take you to the Help program and display the information about the window in which you are working. (iv) Press F1 for an explanation of the Spend Money window and an index to the other topics. Your window is displayed on the following page. 5 (viii) After viewing the options available, select to close Help. Accessing Help using Right-Click button In your Spend Money window, right-click on your mouse. The following will be displayed: You can now access Help and Functions from this window using your mouse button. Accessing Help using the MENU BAR To access help using the MENU BAR: (i) (ii) Select Help in the MENU BAR. 6 (iii) (iv) (v) Select Additional Products and Services and explore the options. Select Find More Help Select MYOB Support Notes. The following window will be displayed if connected to the internet. 8 Using my.myob [for your information only] When using the commercial version of MYOB Accounting Plus, in Help you can select the following to access my.myob website. You will be required to enter your Serial Number and password supplied by MYOB. This site displays your business details [which can be edited in this window] and gives access to support notes and upgrading your MYOB software. Registering your product and signing in to use my.myob makes available a large amount of support and information. You can also visit other MYOB sites around the world. Return to the Command Centre.
