I. THE NEW UPGRADED INTERFACE OF SCADA Pro 10

II. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE NEW INTERFACE File menu The quick access bar of the new interface can be adapted to the user s needs by configuring and incorporating the most usable commands. The new SCADA Pro interface is based on Microsoft Ribbon technology leading to an innovative and restyled as well as a more versatile and functional interface. Tabs allow commands to be grouped together in order to help the user to find and use them more easily, quickly and efficiently without needing the user manual. Ribbons consists of a bar of subsections (tabs) containing relevant commands that are categorized into groups. Tabs make tools easier to find but icons make it easier to use. This toolbar allows the user to choose the interface style and the language, activate the program and view version information. The new SCADA Pro interface uses the TREE view. The TREE view is an "interactive" list that includes all the structural elements of the model in groups providing a detailed overview of the project; quick search and access of the data. (onsap, zoom, select, undo) It s the project management toolbar It s the list of properties that appears on the right and is filled in automatically when an existing element is selected. It provides user with information about the features of the structural element and allows model modifications. Parameters and design data. 11

The status bar at the bottom of the screen that can be adjusted according to both the selected unit and the view of the structure (2D/3D), providing extra project management features. Click to select the color of a new element, different from the default one. Use during the virtual view to show the structure with realistic material colors (gray = concrete, blue = steel, brown = masonry, beige =timber). 12

III. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE NEW INTERFACE 1. FILE In order to start a new project select "New". In the dialog box that appears, specify the details of the new project. More specifically, type a name in the "Name" field. The file name should be up to 8 characters without spaces and special characters (i.e. /, -, _). Into "Info" field enter some information. The program automatically creates a folder that stores all the elements of the new project. Then, under the "Location" field specify the path of the project. The program automatically creates a folder with this name that contains subfolders, ready to be filled in with all of the project s data. In each folder the following files are located: scanal scades_c scades_sid the analysis files the design files of concrete structural elements the design files of steel structural elements 13

scades_synd scainp scapush scatmp tmp project.inf the design files of the steel joints the input files of the structural elements (i.e. beams, columns) and slabs the pushover analysis files temporary files temporary files data base information Choose an existing SCADA project from the file list and click OK. To close a project without closing the application. Scada remains open for opening another existing project or creating a new one. Recent documents for quick access and preview. Saves the active project with its current file name, location and file format To save an active project file with a different name In order to import a Cad, Revit or Archline file, into the cad area of SCADA Pro and simplify your working process, use the drawing (cad file) as a traction transparency for designing the structural elements. Remember to select from the drop-down list is the same with the one the correct measurement unit, that used in the DWG and DXF file. 14

In the new version of the software, there is the capability to import multiple DWG and DXF files (one or more per level) which are now saved with the project file. There is also the automatic command of Element Creation from DXF/ DWG (see also Chapter 2 Modeling ). The compatibility of SCADA Pro with Revit is even more comprehensive. SCADA Pro identifies Revit project files and import the corresponding structural elements with the physical and the mathematical model characteristics included. The new collaboration of SCADA Pro with SAP2000 and ETABS allows importing projects from one program to the other. A SAP or an ETABS project can be opened and continued in SCADA and vice versa. To export from the project various drawings in different file formats *.dxf, *.dwg, or images *.bmp. *.sca files opens with SCADAFW, *.sdb are SAP2000 files that opens automatically in SAP2000 environment if installed on the same computer. ONLY for ScadaFW users. It allows to export a file created in the interface of ScadaPro into ScadaFW format. The print command will be activated on the next version. In order to print the project as it appears on the screen, you can press the Export command and choose to save a bmp file which then can be printed through a picture editor. To reopen Start Screen after closed. 15
