1 Important Notes: When installing this software version Generation 4 OS the update may spend up to 25 minutes at the same percentage level (such as 82%) in the Installing Software stage. This extended time at a percentage does not indicate a failure. Overall times to install all new installable versions from the USB may take up to 90 minutes depending on the previously installed version. Setup Files is a listed import option in File Manager but setup files cannot be imported. For a list of items that can be imported and exported see File Manager section. Implement Width is reset to default upon completion of update. Verify implement width is set correctly before beginning work. When updating, all existing map coverage on CommandCenter will be erased. Work monitor values will not be reset. The active track shown on the run page will show --- after programming, select desired track in Guidance Track List to populate track name on run page. Machine monitor values on Default Guidance Run Page are replaced by two single default modules. Select module to change reading. When selecting ISOBUS VT Split Screen Modules in the Layout Manager for run page creation, some modules may show Initializing instead of the preview with the module content. Creating a run page with a full-size and Vertical Split Screen ISOBUS VT module of the same implement or controller is not recommended. The Vertical Split Screen module may not react to user inputs properly when both are on the same run page. Use these 2 modules on different run pages or use ISOBUS VT App for full module with softkeys. Circle Track edge is exported from CommandCenter with the Circle Track when applicable. This will not show up on the GreenStar Display but will be retained if imported back into Generation 4 CommandCenter. GreenStar Display must be on 15-1 bundle software to retain edge information. Compatible Desktop software such as APEX may not retain the information but MyJohnDeere Operation Center will retain this information. The full VI with softkeys of the Universal CAN Controller (UCC) 1100 is not shown in Layout Manager when adding to a run page. ISOBUS VT App can be accessed to use the full mask with softkeys. When using Split Screens on run pages with certain controllers (GreenStar Rate Controller, GreenStar Rate Controller Dry, isteer - SBG) screen may become unresponsive. In this case, restart the CommandCenter and use the ISOBUS VT Application for controlling the implement. The Gen 4 CommandCenter will not ask for a profile when importing. It will merge all Guidance Lines under the GreenStar Display format with the current guidance lines on the CommandCenter. If a USB contains multiple GreenStar Display profiles it will import all of the lines. If reprogramming from software version , the language and units will need to be confirmed after reprogramming completion. To use Remote Display Access (RDA) with GreenStar Display, the GreenStar software must be on Software Update 14-1 version or higher. Work and Machine Monitor modules that appeared on the run page may appear blank after the update. To add them back to the run page, access Layout Manager, edit the run page, delete the previous 1

2 work and machine modules, and add the desired modules back in. For default run pages, copy the page, and repeat the steps outlined above. Software activations are non-transferrable, even in the event of lost, stolen, or destroyed equipment. It is recommended to insure a Generation 4 CommandCenter at full value, including software activations. Software Compatibility Notes: The Generation 4 CommandCenter is compatible with the GreenStar Display, GreenStar Display, and GreenStar Display. It is also compatible with the Original GreenStar Display without the mobile processor. Equipment information and values will not be shared between the Generation 4 CommandCenter and the GreenStar Display. Set-up information should be entered on both displays. To ensure complete and proper functionality, the most current version of GreenStar Display software, Apex, or another preferred partner desktop software should be used. The Generation 4 CommandCenter displays ISOBUS compatible implement screens. It will not control rates or sections of implements from prescriptions, coverage, or boundaries. Receiver Compatibility: The Generation 4 CommandCenter is compatible with the StarFire 3000 Receiver and the StarFire itc Receiver. Software on StarFire Receivers cannot be updated using the Gen 4 CommandCenter. To update software, use GreenStar Display or Service ADVISOR. 3 New Features and Improvements Default Shortcut Bar- The existing shortcut bar will be replaced with a new default shortcut bar with new items. Shortcut bar can still be edited through Layout Manager. Circle Track- Concentric Circle guidance is now available with CommandCenter AutoTrac Activation. Drive Circle and Lat/Lon methods are available to create circle tracks. New features include: Circle Track Edge- Allows for edge of field to be set when creating or editing a circle track. This will be the fixed location from where the circle will generate, allowing for the implement to line up with the edge of the field when track spacing and implement width are equal. Set Current Location- Allows for the current GPS location to be set when creating a Circle using Lat/Lon method. Showing Driven Circle- The path driven by the machine is shown on the map when creating a circle using the Drive Circle method. Additional information can be found in Onscreen Help on the Gen 4 CommandCenter. Guidance Track List- A track preview map has been added to the Guidance Track List and to the Track Set pages. This allows for viewing selected tracks up to 3 miles away from current location. Location-Based Line Sorting- Sorts the Guidance Tracks by nearest to current GPS location. This will be the default sort method when GPS is available. Sort defaults to A-Z when GPS location is not available. AB Curve Line Extension On/Off- A setting within the guidance application allows for turning on or off the 90m (300ft) line extensions added to the beginning and end of new AB curves. This setting will not affect previously created AB curves. This setting allows curves that may have previously failed to generate the additional passes to generate successfully by avoiding intersection of the line extensions. Location Module- This module is now available on the Default Guidance Run Page. Setting the location on this module will automatically filter the guidance track list to the field displayed on the module and sets the field for new track creation if guidance lines are associated with a Field. Run Page Import & Export- Importing and exporting Run Pages is now available within File Manager. The run pages can only be transferred between screens of the same size, 4100 CommandCenter to 4100 CommandCenter and 4600 CommandCenter to 4600 CommandCenter. The work and machine monitor modules will reset to default upon import. ISOBUS VT modules may not import if the implement providing these modules is currently not connected. For best results software should be the same on both CommandCenters. Factory Data Reset- File Manager Application Settings contains the ability to remove all user data and restore to factory settings. It will not reset activations, language, or regional settings. VT Run Page Modules- Vertical, quarter, half, and full modules (without softkeys) VT screens are now available in Layout Manager so that implement controls can be accessed through the run page in addition to the ISOBUS VT button on the shortcut bar. Modules are loaded from the implement controller. The controller may only provide limited number of module sizes. Fields Application- Allows for the current location to be set and management of Clients, Farms, and Fields. When a field is selected using Set Current Location it will filter within the Guidance Track List, update the location module, and populate this in Field when a new guidance track is created. 3

4 Fixed Issues Entering values in Decimal Comma Number format on Generation 4 CommandCenter. A fix was implemented that will allow both number formats to work in any language. Audio quality of AutoTrac curve tones is improved. Tones quality has been improved to match the tones from previous displays. Start Up of the Generation 4 CommandCenter The Generation 4 CommandCenter turns on and off with the tractor key switch. The start-up time of the Gen 4 CommandCenter may vary depending on a few variables. Warm Boot occurs when the CommandCenter has run within the last 24 hours. The CommandCenter rests in a hibernation state for that time. CommandCenter powers up quickly. (approximately 15 seconds) Cold Boot occurs when the CommandCenter has not operated for 24 hours or more, or if unswitched power has been disconnected. During this period, the CommandCenter shuts down completely to conserve battery power. Power up cycle after a cold boot will take approximately 90 seconds. Avoid turning key switch back on until screen has gone black after turning off the engine. Navigating the Generation 4 CommandCenter : The menu button navigates to the applications on the Gen 4 CommandCenter. The applications found will include Machine Settings, Applications, and System. Each of these contain a unique set of features. Machine Settings- Contains machine settings and adjustments. Applications- Contains (but is not limited to) applications for setup, machine/work data, precision ag applications, and Layout Manager. System- Contains options to manage display settings, view software, export/import, and diagnostics. The Gen 4 CommandCenter also has a customizeable shortcut bar located on the bottom of the screen that will open or perform applications. The ISOBUS VT button will include StarFire Reciever and implement information when applicable. Work Recording is also accessible form the shortcut bar, this will color the map but not record any information that can be exported. The shortcut bar can be edited in Layout Manager. The Gen 4 CommandCenter has two default run pages from the factory. Run pages are customizable screens on the CommandCenter. These default run pages are not customizeable but can be copied. Users can cycle through run pages by pressing the green arrows in the upper right hand portion of the screen, swiping the screen left or right, or through the Nav bar below the display. Users can setup and edit run pages with Layout Manager. For more information about the CommandCenter look for the Center Application. buttons on the top of a page or use the Help 4

5 Onscreen Help Overview The Generation 4 CommandCenter has onscreen help supplementing the information found in the Operators Manual. Pressing the button on top of any page will show the help topic for that page. Additional information related to that topic can be found by pressing available pages related to this topic. under the Table of Contents, this lists all other The Help Center can be accessed through the shortcut bar by pressing the button, accessing the Help Center through the Menu, or pressing the on any Help page. AutoTrac AutoTrac can be found on a default run page, by accessing the AutoTrac application from the shortcut bar, or by navigating to it from the Menu. Guidance settings are accessed by navigating the Guidance Application and pressing. A New Track or Track Set can be created in the Track List by pressing the Set Track button located on the run page or in the guidance application. Available tracking modes include: Straight Track AB Curve Adaptive Curve Circle Track- New A Track Set is group of existing lines that can be arranged and switched between quickly from a run page. Track Sets are created in the Track List and can be swapped between using or on the run page. Note: Activation is required to use full functionality of AutoTrac. 5

6 File Manager File Manager is the application on the Gen 4 CommandCenter that allows for data to be exported and imported. It is accessed by either navigating to the System Tab or an overlay that appears when a USB is inserted. Items that can currently be exported include: Guidance Lines Screenshots Error Log Files Run Pages The Guidance Lines created in the Gen 4 CommandCenter are saved and exported in the GS Display format. They will be saved under the GS Display folder in a JD4600 Profile. This allows users to easily import and export guidance lines between the GS Display and the Gen 4 CommandCenter. If guidance lines from two Generation 4 CommandCenters are exported to the same USB, some guidance lines may be overwritten. It is recommended that the data is backed up to desktop software application prior to exporting from the second machine. Items that can currently be imported include: Guidance Lines Run Pages The Gen 4 CommandCenter will not ask for a profile when importing. It will merge all Guidance lines under the GS Display format with the current guidance lines on the CommandCenter. Run pages can only be imported from the same size Generation 4 CommandCenter. Layout Manager Layout manager under the applications tab is used to customize a run page or shortcut bar. Custom run pages allow for various functions to be organized on the screen. To create a new run page the following steps are taken: 1. Navigate to Layout Manager 2. Press the All run pages tab 3. Press Add New 4. Name the run page 5. Press Add Module 6. Select the desired Module 7. Select Save To view this run page on the screen it must be added to the Active Set. To do this: 1. Press the Active Set tab in Layout Manager 2. Press Active Run Pages 3. Press Add Run Page 4. Select the run page you want to add and press OK 5. Select Save to add it to the Active Set 6

7 The shortcut bar can also be modified by selecting the Default Shortcut Bar in the Shortcut Bars Tab in Layout Manager. This information can also be found on the Gen 4 CommandCenter by locating the pages in Layout Manager. button on the Fields Application The Fields Application can be found under Applications and is also accessed through other Applications such as AutoTrac Guidance and the Location Module. Accessing from the Menu Applications This application is used to manage the organization or set the current location. Managing allows for Client, Farm, and Field to be added, associated, and removed. Accessing from here is the only way to delete Client, Farm, Field and its structure. When a field is selected using Set Current Location it will filter within the Guidance Track List, update the location module, and populate this selection in Field when a new guidance track is created. Accessing from the Location Module This will take you to the Fields Application where the appropriate Field can be selected. This selection will appear on the run page location module. This selection will automatically filter the AutoTrac Guidance Track List and populate the Field when a new track is created. Accessing from AutoTrac Guidance - There are two ways the Fields Application can be accessed while in AutoTrac Guidance Selecting Field when creating a new track. This will take you to the Fields Application where the appropriate Field can be associated to the track. Adding a Filter to the Guidance Track List. This will take you to the Fields Application where the appropriate field can be selected to filter the Guidance Track List. Software Version Listed below are the latest Packages for the Generation 4 CommandCenter that can be installed using a USB from Software Manager.
