Press the Menu button to enter the setup menu Press the Right arrow button to enter the setup menu Navigate to the Output Mode menu Arrow up or down to change Output Mode to Off

2 2) Select the Setup menu and choose Color Profiler. 3) Install Photoprint DX Mutoh Edition software and add VJ-1624 setup. 4) Select Create ICC Output Profile.

3 5) Profile Setup / Printer Setup: a. Device VJ b. Print mode that you desire, this will automatically set the proper resolution. c. Color mode will usually be CMYK(variable dot). d. Choose the Dither pattern you would like to use. e. Set the Printer Driver Options

4 i. You can select a User media if you would like the printer firmware to control your driver options. ii. If you want the software to control your driver options then leave User media at none (recommended). iii. Set your desired Wave form. iv. Leave Stiffnes (platen vacuum) at normal. v. Set your Scan Width to Print area or machine. vi. Set your heater options or uncheck the enable box to allow the printer firmware to set the heaters. vii. Measurement Manner should be Stop and measure. viii. Setup margin can be changed to insure the SpectroVue is measuring the center of each color patch. Usually no adjustment will be necessary unless left or top margin has been changed in the printer firmware setup or in the default job properties in the Photoprint DX software. 6) Profile Attributes setup allows you to enter a media name and change the profile name if desire. 7) Click Next in the bottom right of the Profile Setup window.

5 8) 9) 10) 11) Print Ink Limit Test. Evaluate results and adjust Ink Limit for each color accordingly. Click next in the bottom right of the Ink Limit window. Choose Mutoh 1624 as your Measurement Device. 12) Click on Settings for the Measurement Device and insure Measure automatically is checked. 13) Click Print Target.

6 14) The target will now be sent to the Photoprint DX software to be ripped and printed. a. After the target prints you will need to follow the prompts on the printer display panel to attach the SpectroVue and complete the measurements. b. Press the Enter button on the Control Panel. The Display will scroll though the message Attaching Instrument and [ENTER] You will see the message Wait for a while several times during the measurement process. Do not touch anything while this message is displayed, wait for the next prompt.

7 The head will move to the left maintenance station c. Open left maintenance cover. The Display will scroll though the message Open left mainte. Cover. The Display will scroll though the message Remove connector cap and attach instrument [ENTER]

The display will not scroll through the message Set white plate, then close left maintenance cover. Removing the white plate ii. Turnover and set white plate. iii. Close left maintenance. Turning over and setting the white plate

9 The instrument will calibrate on the white plate and the head will move back to the right and the display panel will scroll though the message Start Measurement [ENTER] f. g. h. i. j. k. l. m. n. o. p. Press the enter button on the printer control panel and the printer will measure all the patches on the target and return to right. After all patches have been read, he display panel will now scroll through the message Detaching instrument [ENTER]. Press the enter key on the printer control panel and the head will move to the left maintenance station. The display panel will now scroll through the message Open left mainte. cover.. Open left maintenance cover and the display panel will now scroll through the message Detach Instrument and set connector cap. [ENTER]. Detach the SpectroVue by squeezing both tabs on each side of the device and pulling out. Put the orange connector cap back on where the SpectroVue was. Press the enter button on the printer control panel. The display panel will now scroll through the message Remove white plate then close left maintenance cover.. Remove the white plate, turn it over and place it back in it s holder. Close the left maintenance cover and the head will return to the right side and Ready to print will be displayed on the printer control panel. 15) Click OK when this message is displayed in Color Profiler software.

10 16) Click the Measure button and the values will be imported. 17) Click on the Linearization curve button to view the graph of the measurement values. 18) Change the channel to All and check for significant spikes in the measurements. If the curves are fairly smooth then click close.

11 19) Click next in the bottom right of the Linearization window. 20) Print Multi-Ink Limit Test. 21) Evaluate results and adjust Ink Limit for each Ink Name accordingly. 22) Click next in the bottom right of the Multi-Ink Limit window. 23) Select the style in the Target Setup and click print Target. (More swatches give you a more accurate profile). 24) The target will now be sent to the Photoprint DX software to be ripped and printed. a. After the target prints you will need to follow the prompts on the printer display panel to attach the SpectroVue and complete the measurements.

12 25) The measurement procedures are exactly the same as they were for the measurement of the Linearization target. 26) Return to step 14a and repeat everything through step ) Click next in the bottom right of the Characterization window. 28) Set the ICC output profile generation options and click Gererate. 29) When the ICC is successfully generated click finish. 30) Print a test print and compare it to the same print from a known good profile. If you are happy with the comparison you have successfully created a custom output profile.
