1 1. Open Internet Explorer [SMART does not work in any other kind of browser.] 2. Type in Address at top of browser: 3. Right Click in blue area of bar. 4. In the pop-up box, click on Menu bar and Favorites bar [This will put a check mark besides both of them, and you ll see these bars appear.] 5. Go ahead and add this to your Favorites so you can find it easier the next time. It s up to you where you want to put it. And you can name it whatever you want this is just personal preference for you. It doesn t affect how the program works. 6. At the top right of your screen.click on the picture that looks like a gear in the right corner of the browser. 7. Click on Compatibility View Settings SMART SETUP Page 1

2 8. Do the following: 1. Under Add this website: type in 2. Thesmartbuilder.net [if it s not all ready filled in for you.] 3. Click the Add button. 3a. result shows up below. 4. Click the Close button. 9. Click the Gear button again. 10. This time choose Internet Options. 11. Click the following: 1. Trusted sites then 2. Sites button. SMART SETUP Page 2

Make sure the Require server verification is unchecked. 3. Then click Add 4. Click the Close button. 1. Change the Allowed levels for this zone: All by Holding down left mouse button till it shows Medium-low 2. Click the OK button. 3. This will take you back to your SMART Screen. Just log out. 4 How to set up SMART on Personal & Company Laptops 13. Close Internet Explorer for these changes to take affect. 14. Then Reopen Internet Explorer. Type in the Username and Password given to you in your Welcome letter or by your manager. Your manager will get this information from the IT department if you do not have it. 15. Click the Log in button. 16. It s up to you if you want to have it store your user name and password. its more convienent.] 17. [I It do may ask you to choose a database. 1. If you want to play around in it, but not mess it up chose the test database. 2. If you feel comfortable with using SMART, choose the Smith Douglas Communities Database. WARNING: If you use the test database, just remember to change it back to the Smith Douglas Communities Database. Otherwise your real work will not save and you ll have to enter the information again, when you have it set to the correct database. 18. Under Applications 19. Use your mouse to roll over Applications and then roll over SMART. A pop up menu will appear. SMART SETUP Page 4

5 [Yours will look a little different than mine.] Once it is finished loading the software, another box will pop up. [Yours will look similar to the example or just like it.] 20. Click on what you see there. This will cause a grey pop up box asking you if you want to Run this program. Click on the Run button. [As an aside this particular pop-up box will only appear once. It s just downloading more software.] 21. Repeat Steps for each application. THE COMPANY PROCESS MODEL This allows us to see information about SmithDouglas, but more importantly show you how to get to certain spreadsheets you need to complete so the right selections can be ordered. It s kind of a cheat sheet. Also at the bottom right of the Process Model, we are starting to work on better Training Manuals and are also beginning to add Training Videos. This can help you with certain every day items that you do in SMART or for a refresher. 1. Holly has a Dropbox link to the Mindjet Manager Reader Version 6 on Dropbox Mindjet Management Software. See hyperlink to the right: 2. Run program after it downloads. 3. Just agree to ALL Defaults. 4. After it installs shut down any open windows. 5. Shut Down Laptop. Turn on Laptop. 6. Use your Favorites bar to find your Bookmark for SMART. Log in again. Roll over Processes and then Company Process Model. Click the Open button at the bottom of the screen. If so you re done!!
