1 Version 2 1(5) MON instructions 1. Logging in 2. Using MON 3. Logging out 1. Logging in To sign into the MON system, you need a username, a PIN code and a password. These can be found on the terms of use document sent to you by mail. The login procedure also requires that you use one of two authentication devices, a smart phone app or a security card. If you use smart phone, you can find further instructions in the document Smart Phone pp Instructions. For security card users no separate tutorial is needed. The card is sent to you by mail. If you lack anything required to log in, please contact the MON support. Open your web browser and go to hoose your authentication device (Security card or Smart phone). B.1 Security ard: Enter your username and generate an OTP (one-time password) from your security card. Enter your six-digit PIN code and your OTP in direct sequence, without spaces. lick Sign in.

2 Version 2 2(5) B.2 Smart Phone: Open the mobile app and select your profile. Enter your six-digit PIN code to generate an OTP (one-time password). Please note that any combination of digits will generate an OTP, but only your PIN code will generate an OTP you can login with. In the web browser, enter your username and OTP. lick Sign in. To use MON in the web browser you click on either Mona or Mona SS-user, most users only have one of these two options. This requires a web browser that supports html5 (which is standard since 2014), but no other software is necessary. To use MON in a remote desktop client you need to click on either Mona SS-user local client (only on Windows) or Mona local RDP client (only on Windows, most users only have one of these two options. The remote desktop client gives you access to more keyboard shortcuts and may solve some keyboard issues that are common when using MON in the web browser. To set up the remote desktop client requires admin rights on the computer you are using since the software ccess lient must be installed. D.1 Web browser: MON opens in a new tab. Log in using your username and password. Make sure you log on to the MIRO domain, in other words: make sure that the text says Sign in to: MIRO. If not, write micro\ in front of your username in the User name field. Now you can use MON through the tab in your browser. To use the browser's full-screen mode, press F11. To exit full screen mode, press F11 again (this does not work in Microsoft Edge).

3 Version 2 3(5) D.2 Remote desktop client: The first time you use the remote desktop client in MON you must install ccess lient. Please note that this requires admin rights on the computer you are using, if you do not have admin rights on the computer you may need to contact your organizations IT department or use MON in the web browser instead. The first time you log in, you start by clicking Mona SS-user local client (only on Windows) or Mona local RDP client (only on Windows), then follow these steps: 1. red box appears in the webbrowser, it has a link with the text Download, lick it. 2. The file ccesslientinstaller.exe is downloaded (this looks slightly different for different browsers). Run the file, either directly or by opening the folder where it was saved and dubble click the file. 3. ssuming that you have admin rights on the computer, the ccess lient dialog will appear, click on Install. 4. warning that mona.scb.se is trying to start the program ccess lient may appear. This message will look different depending on what webbrowser you are using. Make sure that the warning references the right website and program befor clicking llow. 5. nother warning may appear: ccess lient needs to run mstsc.exe. mstsc.exe is the default remote desktop client in windows. lick ccept. 6. Yet another warning may appear: The identity of the remote computer cannot be cerified. Do you want to connect anyway?. lick Yes. 7. Now the Windows Remote Desktop lient should appear. Log in using your username and password. Make sure you log on to the MIRO domain, in other words that the text says Sign in to: MIRO. If not, write micro\ in front of your username in the User name field.

4 Version 2 4(5) 2. Using MON You can find all software you have access to in Start/Programs. Note that the content varies depending on your order. For longer and more resource intensive jobs, you need to use our batch environment. ontact the MON support to get access to the batch environment and the program Batchlient. B The My Documents folder is your workspace. In this folder you will find your InBox, OutBox, tutorials and shortcuts to your projects. The shortcut ProjectID_Name contains the following folders: ProjektID_Data: In this folder you will find your data files in case you get the delivery in form of files (that is, not as views in SQL). ProjektID_Gem: In this folder you save the files you produce, it is a folder that all users in your project can access. Here you can also create custom folder structures. My Documents is limited to 250 megabyte, so make sure to save larger files here. The shortcut _MONInformation leads to tutorials and an FQ. D Users may sometimes need to use files from outside of the MON system. For security reasons, users cannot import files into MON themself. To import files, send them to mona@scb.se. They will be reviewed and placed in your InBox folder. The files must be in a readable format. Microdata, Office files with macros and malicious codes are examples of files that may not be imported. To export results from MON, the OutBox folder is used. Files you place in this folder are automatically sent to the address you have registered in MON. Do not save your files directly into this folder, save them in a different location first and copy/paste the files you want to have sent into your OutBox. Files are sent from the OutBox folder every three minutes. If there are multiple files they are compressed and sent in zip format. Note that the total size of the files can be a maximum of 2 MB. This means that it is possible to send one 2 MB file or multiple files with a total size of 2 MB. lso note that nothing will be sent if you create subfolders in the OutBox folder. It is not allowed to export microdata. The OutBox function is intended to export things like regression results, graphs and summary statistics.

5 Version 2 5(5) 3. Logging out completed MON session has to be actively terminated by logging out through the Start menu. Never terminate your session by simply closing the MON tab in your browser or closing the window that the remote desktop runs in. By actively logging out, you ensure that the software licenses you have used are made available to other users. B fter logging out from the domain, you must also terminate the VPN connection. Go to the tab in your browser that contains the login portal and click Log out. When this has been done, the tab may be closed. Your MON session can also be disconnected due to inactivity, which happens after four hours without active use. Unsaved work could then be lost. This may also lead to you blocking software licenses from other users. Instead of getting logged out due to inactivity, we want you to actively end your session.
