1 Set Up VPN Access on Your Personal Device Choose your operating system: Windows 7 Windows 8 Windows 10

2 Personal Device- Windows 7 *Finding my IP Address for a remote connection Before connecting to AnyConnect, please make sure you have your IP address for your AHC-IS managed device you plan to remote into. You can obtain the IP address by visiting the following URL while on the device. Install Cisco AnyConnect VPN for Windows 7/8/10 If you are using a personal device to remote to an AHC computer you will need to install the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. Below are a list of instructions on downloading and installing the program on your Windows 7/8/10 machine. Note: Installation requires local administrative access to your PC. If you have an AHC managed device the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is already installed. Navigate to the Downloads & Guides page Click the Download link under AnyConnect for Windows 7/8/10. You may need to log in with your x500 ID and x500 password ( password). 2. Open your Downloads directory and find the compressed (zipped) folder labeled anyconnect-win-<version>-repack. 3. Right-click on this folder and select Extract All. 4. Open the unzipped file folder labeled anyconnect-win-<version>-repack. Right-click on the Install-Win78 batch file and select Run as Administrator 5. A command window will open and show the install of the VPN client as well as the diagnostics and reporting tool 6. A popup message will say that the installation is complete. Note: If you run without administrative privileges, the command window will exit immediately and fail even with an installation complete message.

3 Note: When running the executable under Windows 8, Windows SmartScreen will prevent you from running an unsigned app. When you get the error message, "Running this app might put your PC at risk," click More Info and then click the Run anyway button. Getting Started: Using Cisco Any Connect Secure Mobility Client a) Search Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client from start menu, Choose this program. b) The Ready to Connect box should appear and list three options: Split Tunnel, Full Tunnel and Departmental Pools. Select DEPARTMENTAL POOLS (Note: If the drop down box is blank and nothing appears, please type the following; tcvpn-1.umn.edu ) c) In the Group field you may see AnyConnect-ADCSadVPN, please change the field by selecting the drop down arrow. Choose AnyConnect-AHC01. (Please ensure you have changed this field or you will have issues connecting correctly.)

4 d) Enter your x500 Internet ID and your x500 password ( password) (If successful you will see connected to Departmental Pools) Getting Started: Remote Desktop a) Search Remote Desktop from the start menu. b) Select Remote Desktop Connection

5 c) Type your *IP Address into the Computer field d) Select Connect e) Enter your AD username and password (the username and password that you use to sign on to your AHC computer/ahc server) Note: Enter AD\username

6 f) You should now be connected to your remote machine.

Installing Microsoft Remote Desktop Software a) Please visit the Microsoft Store to install Microsoft Remote Desktop Software. This program is free, but necessary to remote into your AHC managed device. Download and install the program. (Please be sure to have your admin privileges enabled before attempting to install).
