1 Software Announcement February 13, 2001 CATIA Web-Based Learning Solutions Version 5 Release 5 Extends Coverage with Additional Products Overview CATIA Web-Based Learning Solutions (WLS) Version 5 Release 5 introduces two new products: CATIA User Hybrid Design combined with the CATIA User Mechanical Design, is ideally suited for the users of the CATIA HD2 configuration. CATIA User Version 4 Mechanical Design ideally suited for the CATIA Version 4 customers who want to take immediate advantage of the capabilities offered by the CATIA WLS products. This product is an excellent option to support an evolution from CATIA Version 4 to CATIA Version 5 in the mechanical domain. All the skillets of the CATIA User Mechanical Design have been reviewed and are enhanced to: Reflect the best capabilities and new methodologies of CATIA Version 5 Release 5. Maximize the usage of the Discover It and Show Me learning components for faster understanding. Capitalize the experience acquired from using this material as the main support for instructor-supported training with different types of learners. This new release also allows the user to launch the WLS environment directly from the standard CATIA Version 5 toolbar. 2 Description What s New in CATIA WLS Version 5 Release 5 Two New Products: 1. CATIA User Hybrid Design This product requires the CATIA User Mechanical Design as a prerequisite. Combined with the CATIA User Mechanical Design, it is ideally suited for the owners of the CATIA Hybrid Design 2 Configuration. It is an excellent option to prepare an evolution from CATIA Version 4 to CATIA Version 5 in the mechanical domain. 4 IBM US Announcement Supplemental Information February 13, 2001 Additional Information WLS Packaging and Products Products, the elementary building blocks of CATIA WLS, may be ordered in two ways, depending on the objectives of the customer: As shareable products: CATIA Version 5 User Mechanical Design (5691-MDC) CATIA Version 5 User Hybrid Design (5691-HDC) Shareable products are suited for the customer who needs a limited number of licenses available. These products are delivered with their own license key, allowing the user to obtain the license at the beginning of the session, or to leave it for another user. As enterprise products: CATIA Version 5 User Mechanical Design Enterprise Option (5691-MDE) CATIA Version 5 User Hybrid Design Enterprise Option (5691-HDE) CATIA User Version 4 Mechanical Design Enterprise Option (5691-M4E) This licensing option offers a reduced Primary License Charge (PLC) and requires that the customer purchase licenses in a quantity equal to the quantity of the applicable installed inventory. The applicable installed inventory should reflect a customer having the following CATIA configurations or products installed: For 5691-MDE: 5691-MD2, 5691-ME2, and 5691-HD2 configurations For 5691-HDE: 5691-GSD product, and any configuration containing the GSD product For 5691-M4E: 5626-SBD, 5626-ADD, and 5626-DWD configurations For example, 5691-MDE must be deployed on all CATIA mechanical seats that license at least the products of the MD2, ME2, or HD2 configurations. A minimum order of five seats is required to qualify for this option. All subsequent orders for the applicable installed inventory must be accompanied by an equivalent order for the supporting CATIA User Companion. The price of an enterprise seat is greatly reduced compared to the price of a shareable order. Note: When the enterprise option is deployed, the shareable option is no longer necessary. CATIA WLS Migration/Upgrade Offerings: CATIA WLS Version 5 Release 5 now provides a migration path from CATIA Version 4 Computer-Based Training (5799-CBT), to the WLS CATIA User Version 4 Mechanical Design Enterprise Option (5691-M4E). The migration can be ordered up to the current quantity of the existing from product install base. The CATIA User Version 4 Mechanical Design Enterprise Option on UNIX (5691-M4E) will provide a no-charge migration to the CATIA Version 5 User Mechanical Design Enterprise Option (5691-MDE) for CATIA Version 5 customers. Upgrade paths have been developed to protect your Version 4 investment by providing, in most cases, a path to upgrade existing Version 4 CBT products to their Version 5 WLS functionally equivalent packages. Also, upgrades are offered to take advantage of the evolving capabilities of CATIA Version 5. Glossary CATIA User Companion Desktop: The Java engine used to access skillets, courses, job aids Client: PC or laptop with CPU, memory, and graphic card Technical Information Hardware Requirements: This product is designed to run concurrently with CATIA Version 5 Release 5 at minimum level SP1 for the Windows platforms, and at minimum level SP2 for the UNIX platforms. For additional information on CATIA Version 5 Release 5, refer to Software Announcement , dated November 7, 2000, or visit: Disk drive: an internal or external disk drive is required to store program executables, program data, usage environment, and paging space (minimum recommended size: 2 GB). Memory: 256 MB of main memory is the minimum required. Requirements may be greater when large amounts of data are used. Internal/external drives: A CD-ROM drive is required for program installation. 5 Display: A graphic color display compatible with the selected platform-specific graphic adapter. For usability reasons, at a minimum, a 17-inch display is recommended. Minimum resolution for Windows workstations is 1024 x 768. Keyboard: a specific keyboard compatible with selected installation locale may be required for national language support. Although CATIA Version 5 products might run on other configurations or other graphic adapters, incidents specific to these configurations or adapters would not be accepted for support. Hardware Requirements in a Windows Environment System unit: Intel Pentium II or Pentium III-based workstations running Microsoft Windows NT Workstation Version 4.0 or Windows 2000 Professional. Graphic adapter: A graphic adapter with 3D OpenGL accelerator is required. Graphic performance on local transformations (panning, zooming, rotating model) will depend on the selected graphic adapter. The graphic adapter should have the following capabilities: 24 bits, true color, double buffered visual. 24 bits, Z-buffer. Stencil buffer. Minimum supported resolution is 800 x 600. A resolution of 1280 x 1024 is recommended for usability reasons. Network Adapter: An active LAN adapter (Ethernet or token ring, installed and configured) is required for licensing purposes. Hardware Requirements in an AIX Environment System Unit: Any RS/6000 based on PowerPC 604 (166 MHz minimum clock speed), Power2, or Power3 processor families, supported on AIX Version 4 Release 3.2 or 3.3 provided that requirements described below are met. It is designed to operate with the following software: On the Client Side in a Windows Environment Microsoft Windows NT Workstation Version 4.0 with Service Pack 4 or Service Pack 5, or Windows 2000 Professional One of the following Web browsers: Microsoft Internet Explorer (delivered with Windows NT 4.0), at minimum level 4.01, Service Pack 1. For software requirements, visit: Browser Plug-ins: Some products of the WLS may provide learning resources using the Portable Document Format (PDF). This requires Adobe Acrobat Reader at minimum level 3.0 to be installed as a plug-in for the browser used to run the system. Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 3.0 may be downloaded from: Although access to CATIA WLS might work on other HTML browsers, incidents specific to other browsers than above-mentioned products are not eligible for support. Prerequisites for the Licensing Environment Windows NT and Windows 2000 workstations must have a LAN card (Ethernet or token ring) and TCP/IP installed and properly configured, even in the case of nodelock licensing. It is not required to have the workstations connected to the network. No additional software is required when accessing nodelock licenses on Windows NT or Windows IBM License Use Management (LUM) is required to serve concurrent licenses across a network. A LUM configuration file (i4ls.ini) is required on CATIA clients to access concurrent licenses from these servers. At minimum level is required on UNIX or Windows NT license servers. At minimum level is required on Windows 2000 license servers. At minimum level is required when High Availability Licensing (HAL) mechanism offered by LUM is used. A LUM may be obtained, at no charge, from: download.html On the Server Side HTTP server (IBM/Lotus, Apache, Microsoft IIS, Netscape Server) Only applies if CATIA WLS runs in a client server mode communicating via the HTTP protocol. (The system can also be installed without an HTTP server. The learning resources are accessed in file mode via the browser.) Planning Information Installability: CATIA WLS products are delivered on CD-ROM, including documentation. It is designed so customers can install the system, customize it, and get started with few manual interventions and minimum skills within one hour. Program Services: Program services for CATIA WLS versions will be available until discontinued by IBM upon six months written notice. Preventive service is delivered through the next release of CATIA WLS Version 5. The new release will also include corrections to problems, depending on the time of their submission and their severity. Customers may report problems against a given release of CATIA WLS Version 5 for a limited time only. This service period ends four months after the planned availability of the second subsequent release of CATIA WLS Version 5. 7 Corrective service for CATIA WLS Version 5 releases is delivered through the existing Service Packs process. A Service Pack includes corrections for blocking problems reported on this release and all corrections available for all components at the time it is built. Service Packs are provided at the same time for all platforms currently supported. Each Service Pack supersedes the previous one and may be installed on top of the released level or on top of a previous Service Pack. No individual corrections will be delivered between two Service Packs. No update of online documentation will be provided through Service Packs. Customers may request a correction via a Service Pack for blocking problems. These requests for corrections to a given release of CATIA WLS Version 5 may be made up to four months after the next release of CATIA WLS Version 5 becomes available. After that date, no new Service Packs will be built for that release. This final Service Pack will still be available for ordering on CD-ROM via the IBM Support Centers for the duration of the service period of each release. This service period ends four months after the planned availability of the second subsequent release of CATIA WLS Version 5. With the availability of this release, the end of corrective service for CATIA WLS Version 5 Release 4 will be four months after the planned availability of CATIA WLS Version 5 Release 5. Also, with the availability of this release, the end of service for CATIA WLS Version 5 Release 3 will be four months after the planned availability of CATIA WLS Version 5 Release 5. Direct Customer Support: Direct customer support is provided under the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Enhanced Support Offering (ESO). This fee service enhances the customer s productivity by providing voice and electronic access to the PLM Support Center. The ESO help desk will answer questions pertaining to the installation, administration, use, and handling of suspected software defects for eligible products. For purposes of the ESO, WLS is treated as a product. A valid contract for a CATIA Version 5 Enhanced Support configuration is a prerequisite to obtaining support for WLS. Packaging: This product includes the following deliverables in English: Code CDs (in five separate packages as follows): Two CDs (LCD4-4667) CATIA Version 5 User Mechanical Design Windows NT and 2000 Three CDs (LCD4-4668) CATIA Version 5 User Mechanical Design UNIX Two CDs (LCD4-5233) CATIA User Version 4 Mechanical Design UNIX One CD (LCD4-5234) CATIA Version 5 User Hybrid Design Windows One CD (LCD4-5235) CATIA Version 5 User Hybrid Design UNIX Three informal documents: Licensed Program Specifications (GI ) Registration Memo (GI ) Memorandum to Current Licensees (GI ) The CATIA WLS products are currently available in English. National language versions (French, German, and Japanese) will be available at a later date. Security, Auditability, and Control The announced program uses the security and auditability features of the host hardware or operating system software. If sensitive data is sent over external communications facilities, users may wish to pursue the use of cryptography. The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities. Shipment of this release is scheduled to be completed by March 9, New Licensees Orders for new licenses are currently accepted. Shipment will begin on the planned availability date. New users should specify: CATIA Version 5 User Mechanical Design: machine type 5691, models MDC, MDE CATIA User Version 4 Mechanical Design: machine type 5691, model M4E CATIA Version 5 User Hybrid Design: machine type 5691, models HDC, HDE An order for CATIA Web-Based Learning Solutions basic licensed programs consists of one or more licensed program orders (5691-XXX), and one System Program Order (SPO), 5628-WLS, for Windows or UNIX workstations. The 5691-XXX orders are required for billing and asset registration. The 5628-WLS orders are required to ship machine-readable materials and publications

8 Basic License: To order a basic license for a 5691 program type, specify the program number (5691-XXX) and feature number 9001 for asset registration. Select the charge option, either primary license charge (PLC) with the corresponding quantity-based annual license charge (ALC), or the quantity-based yearly license charge (YLC). PLC/ALC Licenses: The first license must be at usage level 1. The maximum number of licenses at a usage level must be ordered before ordering the next usage level. When licenses are discontinued, the licenses at the higher usage level must be discontinued first. YLC Licenses: The YLC feature numbers specified will depend on the usage level ordered for the license for a given customer number. The first license must be at usage level 1. The SPO is required for all program shipments and future updates. Initial orders placed for a program type 5691 without a corresponding order or MES for the 5628-WLS SPO will either fail order validation, or will not generate a media shipment. The SPO is designated to the processor on which the program type 5691 is licensed. Each customer number must have its own SPO. Initial Orders: When ordering the first 5691-xxx product for CATIA WLS Version 5, an order must also be placed for the 5628-WLS SPO. Both the 5691-xxx program order and the SPO must be for the same CPU system type/system number, and have the same scheduled shipment date. Subsequent Licenses: The SPO must have a feature number for every CATIA WLS Version 5 product that is installed or on order. Therefore, when a product that was not previously installed is ordered, the SPO must be updated. To Update an On-order System: When a license for a new 5691 program is ordered for an on-order system, the 5628-WLS SPO must be updated to reflect the feature number of the licensed program desired. Also, for asset registration and billing purposes an order for the individual licensed program type 5691 is required. To Update an Installed System: When a license for a new 5691 program is ordered for an installed system, the 5628-WLS SPO must be updated to reflect the feature number of the licensed program desired WLS Feature Numbers: The following program feature numbers are used with the 5628-WLS SPO to show which products are installed. This information is used for shipment of media. The maximum quantity of each of the features that may be specified is one for each of the 5691 programs
