2 Description What s New in ENOVIA WLS V5.9 New Packaging Model: ENOVIA User Companion for VPM (5691-VMC, 5795-VMC) and User Companion for DMU (5691-DNC, 5795-DNC) are now available as configurations. User Companion Desktop product included with every configuration. New product numbers are announced for ENOVIA WLS configurations in V5.9. Effective August 9, 2002, 5691-VME and 5691-DNE will be withdrawn and directly replaced by 5795-VMC and 5795-DNC respectively. 3 IBM US Announcement Supplemental Information June 11, 2002 Additional Information Web-Based Learning Solutions (WLS) Packaging and Products ENOVIA WLS configurations may be ordered in two ways, depending on the objectives of the customer: 1. As shareable configurations: ENOVIA User Companion for VPM Configuration (5691-VMC) User Companion for DMU Configuration (5691-DNC) Shareable configurations are suited for the customer who needs a limited number of licenses available. These configurations are delivered with their own license key, allowing the user to obtain the license at the beginning of the session, or to leave it for another user. 2. As enterprise configurations: ENOVIA User Companion for VPM Configuration Enterprise Option (5795-VMC) User Companion for DMU Configuration Enterprise Option (5795-DNC) Note: The terms regarding use of the Enterprise Option have changed in V5.9 to include configurations available in the P1 environment. This licensing option offers a reduced primary license charge (PLC) and requires that the customer purchase licenses in a quantity equal to the quantity of each licensed CATIA configuration or product as described by the following terms: The ENOVIA WLS V5 configuration 5795-DNC is licensed to customers on a one-to-one relationship between the 5795-DNC configuration and each licensed 5693-DN1 or -DMN add-on or 5691-DMN shareable product as well as each licensed configuration (and any future configuration) which includes the DMU Navigator 1 or DMU Navigator 2 product. The ENOVIA WLS configuration 5795-VMC is licensed to customers on a one-to-one relationship between the 5795-VMC configuration and each licensed ENOVIAVPM Infrastructure product (5691-VPM). All subsequent orders for the applicable licensed configurations must be accompanied by an equivalent order for the supporting ENOVIA User Companion. The price of an enterprise seat is greatly reduced compared to the price of a shareable order. There is a 10 seat minimum requirement for 5795-VMC, the ENOVIA User Companion for VPM Configuration Enterprise Option. There is no minimum seat requirement for 5795-DNC, User Companion for DMU Configuration Enterprise Option. Note: The following rules apply: When the enterprise option is deployed, the shareable option is no longer necessary. A 5691 product (shareable) can only be added on top of a 5691 (shareable) configuration. A 5795 product (enterprise) can only be added on top of a 5795 (enterprise) configuration. A customer may have 5691 type entry configuration and 5795 type entry configuration (such as 5691-MDC + HDS and 5795-DNC). Note: For all questions regarding implementation or administrative details of the WLS Enterprise Option, contact PLM Worldwide Marketing at x6643. ENOVIA WLS Migration/Upgrade Offerings To facilitate the product number (PID) conversion, ENOVIA WLS V5.9 provides migration paths from previously released WLS products to V5.9 WLS configurations as follows: The ENOVIA User Companion for VPM Product Enterprise Option (5691-VME) will provide a no-charge migration to the ENOVIA User Companion for VPM Configuration Enterprise Option (5795-VMC). The User Companion for DMU Product Enterprise Option (5691-DNE) will provide a no-charge migration to the User Companion for DMU Configuration Enterprise Option (5795-DNC). Technical Information Hardware Requirements: Minimum requirements: Disk drive: an internal or external disk drive is required to store program executables, program data, usage environment, and paging space (minimum recommended size: 4 GB). Memory: 256 MB of main memory is the minimum required. Requirements may be greater when large amounts of data are used. Internal/external drives: A CD-ROM drive is required for program installation. Display: A graphics color display compatible with the selected platform-specific graphics adapter. For usability reasons, at a minimum, a 17-inch display is recommended. 4 workstations is 800 x 600 and 1280 x 1024 for UNIX workstations. Keyboard: a specific keyboard compatible with selected installation locale may be required for National Language Support. Although CATIA V5 products might run on other configurations or other graphics adapters, incidents specific to these configurations or adapters would not be accepted for support. Hardware Requirements in a Windows Environment System unit: Intel Pentium II, Pentium III, or Pentium 4-based workstations running Microsoft Windows NT Workstation V4.0, Windows 2000 Professional, or Windows XP Professional Edition. Graphics adapter: A graphics adapter with 3D OpenGL accelerator is required. Graphics performance on local transformations (panning, zooming, rotating model) will depend on the selected graphics adapter. The graphics adapter should have the following capabilities: 24 bits, true color, double buffered visual. 24 bits, Z-buffer. Stencil buffer. Minimum supported resolution is 800 x 600. A resolution of 1280 x 1024 is recommended for usability reasons. Network adapter: An active LAN adapter (Ethernet or Token Ring, installed and configured) is required for licensing purposes. Hardware Requirements in an AIX Environment System unit: Any RS/6000 based on PowerPC 604 (166 MHz minimum clock speed), POWER2, or POWER3 processor families, supported on AIX V4.3.3 provided that requirements described below are met. Prerequisites for the Licensing Environment Windows workstations must have a LAN card (Ethernet or Token Ring) and TCP/IP installed and properly configured, even in the case of nodelock licensing. It is not required to have the workstations connected to the network. IBM License Use Management (LUM) software is not required on a client using a nodelock license. LUM is required to serve concurrent licenses across a network. A LUM configuration file (i4ls.ini) is required, on CATIA clients to access concurrent licenses from these servers. Minimum level is required on UNIX or Windows NT license servers. Minimum level is required on Windows 2000 Professional license servers. Minimum level is required when High Availability Licensing (HAL) mechanism offered by LUM is used. The recommended LUM level for HAL usage is Minimum level is required on Windows 2000 Server and Windows 2000 Advanced Server license servers. Minimum level of is required on Windows XP license servers. Various release levels of LUM may be obtained, at no charge, from: download.html On the Server Side: HTTP server (IBM/Lotus, Apache, Microsoft IIS, Netscape Server). This only applies if CATIA WLS runs in a client server mode communicating via the HTTP protocol. The system can also be installed without an HTTP server. The learning resources are accessed in file mode via the browser. Access to Product Documentation: If installed in server mode, the product documentation must be installed on the same server the WLS product is installed. If used in file mode, the documentation may be installed at any place on the client. The location of the documentation is defined via the settings tool of the ENOVIA User Companion Desktop. Using the Mail Feature: The mail feature launches the mail utility that has been declared on the Windows NT client. If no mail application has been defined, then the feature is equivalent to issuing a mail to command. On UNIX platform, the mail feature always behaves as if a mail to command was issued. Planning Information Installability: ENOVIA WLS products are delivered on CD-ROM, including documentation. They are designed so that with few manual interventions and minimum skills customers within one hour can install, customize, and get started on the system. For purposes of data model migration and validation, a customer may continue to use the predecessor product for up to three months without IBM approval, but may not use both the new version product and the predecessor product simultaneously for productive purposes at any time. If both licenses are used simultaneously the customer will be subject to the full PLC and recurring charges that apply to the replacement program, as well as the recurring charges applicable to the predecessor program. The three-month parallel usage of the replacement and predecessor product may be extended to more than three months on an individual basis with prior IBM approval. From Prior Releases to WLS V5.9: V5.9 brings new packaging to the WLS product set. This new packaging introduces new PID numbers as both products and configurations. In addition, the User Companion Desktop is incorporated into all new WLS configurations. All customers who have purchased V5 WLS products before V5.9 must utilize the provided no-charge migration paths to the new products or configurations. Customers will then need to request licenses for their new PID numbers. The customer must sign one of these agreements as a prerequisite to processing the purchase order for licensing a PLM software product offering. The ICA, IICA, or equivalent is signed only once by an IBM customer. With a valid ICA/IICA and purchase order for this PLM product and while paying the PLC and applicable recurring charge, the customer has: The right to use the license. Warranty support and use of program services as described in the Program Services section. The right to receive enhancements and future releases, if any, of the same version at no additional cost. Significant new functions may be offered as an optional feature and charged for separately. If a replacement program is announced, and the customer elects to license the replacement program for a PLC/ALC and replace the prior program, an upgrade charge may apply. The upgrade charge will be less than the full PLC for the replacement version. The first payment consists of the PLC and ALC. The ALC applies yearly thereafter. The product upgrade charge applies to orders for a replacement product when it replaces a predecessor product that was obtained for a PLC/recurring charge.
