2 Exploring your OneDrive Page If you have not completed setting up your OneDrive account please do so now, the information in this ebook will be easier to follow step by step if you have your OneDrive page open. You will find setup information in my previous post Sign up for a free account to use Microsoft Offfice or by viewing my post Another option for creating a free OneDrive account and follow the steps to sign up. If OneDrive is not open go to the URL and sign in if requested, you will then be directed to your OneDrive personal page simular to the one shown below. OneDrive will by default create (3) folders, a Documents folder, a Pictures folder, and a Public folder. I would suggest not deleting these folders which will help in organizing your files. Looking around your page you will see you have 15 GB of available space, a Recycle bin for retrieving files you may have accidently deleted or files you may need to restore if you change your mind, the option to buy and get more space for free if needed, and the option to download apps for your Windows, Android, or IOS device. Click on these links located in the bottom left corner of your page to view and even try these options on your own. I will be going into more detail later in this ebook.

3 You will also see in the upper left column of the page a link to Files, Recent Docs, All Photos, and Shared. If you click the Recent docs link you will find a list of documents you have viewed or created. The All Photos link will take you to Pictures folder, and the Public link will open showing you any files or folders you have shared with others. (More on Sharing and the Public folder in another post and ebook) On your OneDrive page you will see your login name in the top right corner, by clicking on your name you will be able to change your Profile, view and change your Account Settings, and Sign Out. There is also an Availble and Invisible link which will let you appear online or offline.

4 Now that we have explored some of the options on your OneDrive landing page I would like to go into a little more detail on how to use some of these features. Get More Storage The first item I would like to show you is the Get more storage link because you will see a relationship to the Pictures folder on your OneDrive landing page Clicking on the Get more storage link will open information on the storage you have available to you on OneDrive. You will see your plan includes a Free 15 GB of storage by just signing up, this is listed under Your Plan Under the heading Your additional storage you have the option to add more storage by clicking on the Learn more link next to Camera roll bonus. (See circled below)

5 When you click the Learn more link you will be directed to a Microsoft page showing you how to earn an extra 3 GB of free storage by setting up your camera to upload photos and videos to OneDrive. Click on the Learn more about adding photos and videos (circled above) You will be directed to the following page where you can choose your device.

6 You will need download the OneDrive app by choosing your device and following the instructions. You can also earn additional storage space by inviting friends and contacts to join OneDrive by clicking on the Referral bonus Get free storage link. (Circled below)

7 The following page opens allowing you to Send or Post to a social network to invite friends. By clicking on Plans you will have to option to buy more storage if needed in the future.

8 Other options available under the Get more storage link from your OneDrive landing page includes Office file formats. Here you can choose which format you would like your office documents stored in such as the standard office format or the OpenDocument format. Clicking the Tagging option you can allow others to TAG the photos you store. Device backups will include the devices that you have allowed to backup. For instance I have allowed my Windows Phone, my Windows Surface tablet, and my Dell laptop to backup to my OneDrive storage space.

9 The Get OneDrive apps link located back at your home page will direct you to a page that you can pick your device and download the app. When you open the Get OneDrive apps a new page opens where you can Chose your Device for a drop down menu to be taken to the correct app store.

10 Sidebar Menu The next section we will explore is the Sidebar Menu also known as a Quick Launch Bar. If you have created any documents, uploaded any photos, or Shared any files with others you can view these via the above links. By clicking on Recent docs you can view all documents you created showing the date you Modified, Opened and other information about your files. You can filter these documents by clicking on Name, Last Opened, etc. to more easily find the file you are needing. Click on Name (circled above) in your recent docs link to arrange your files in alphabetical order. Or click on Last Opened to find files you opened recently.

11 By clicking on the All photos link in the side bar you will find all your photos listed by Month. Click on the Shared link to find a list of all files you have shared with others giving you the option to stop sharing these files. I will have upcoming posts on Sharing files later. Conclusion There are more options available on your OneDrive home we will explore in later posts. Some of which will be detailed in future ebooks are how to Upload files and photos, how to create new Folders and the Hidden options that appear when you are working with files and folders.
