Unlck the enclsure wheels. 4. Rll the enclsure dwn the pallet ramp, and place in the lcatin selected in step 1. If necessary, slide the Onbard Administratr int the bay. When fully inserted, the lcks int place. 2. Access the Insight Display. 3

4 a. Press and release the Insight Display panel. b. Pull the Insight Display ut f the chassis t lck it int place, and then tilt the Insight Display fr viewing. 5. Remve the full-height divider. 3. If yu are installing a full-height device in bays 3/7 and tw half-height devices in bays 4/8, install the half-height divider. If yu are installing a half-height device, mit this step. 4

5 6. Install the half-height divider. If the empty bays are cnfigured fr a full-height device, jin tw device bay blanks t create a full-height blank. 7. Remve the cnnectr cvers. 8. Install the server r strage blades. If yu plan t install fur Active Cl 100 fans, yu can install up t tw full-height blades r up t fur half-height blades. Fr full-height blades, ppulate device bay 1 first, and then ppulate device bay 2. See "Full-height device bay numbering (n page 3)." Fr half-height blades, ppulate the device bays in the fllwing rder: 1, 2, 5, and then 6. See "Half-height device bay numbering (n page 3)." If yu plan t install six Active Cl 100 Fans, blades can be installed in any cnfiguratin. 9. Install device bay blanks int any unused device bays. Installing the rear cmpnents CAUTION: T prevent imprper cling and thermal damage, d nt perate the enclsure unless all bays are ppulated with a cmpnent r a blank. 1. Slide the fan int the enclsure until it lcks in place. a. The BladeSystem c3000 Twer Enclsure is shipped with fur Active Cl 100 Fans and supprts up t six fans. Install fans based n the number f blades installed: Fr ne t fur half-height blades r ne t tw full-height blades, install fur fans in bays 2, 4, 5, and 6. See "Fan bay numbering (n page 3)." Either tw full-height blades must be installed in device bays 1 and 2, r fur half-height blades must be installed in device bays 1, 2, 5, and 6. If yu install any blades in device bays 3, 4, 7, r 8, install six fans using all bays. b. Be sure t rient each fan prperly. When installing a fan in the left clumn f fan bays, rient the fan s that the LED is in the upper right crner. When installing a fan in the right clumn f fan bays, rient the fan s the LED is in the lwer left crner. 5

6 NOTE: Yu cannt install Active Cl 100 fans and Active Cl 200 fans in the same enclsure. The Onbard Administratr sends an errr message, and yu must remve the type f fan with the least number f units installed. When installing a pwer supply in pwer supply bay 4, 5, r 6, rient the pwer supply s the plug is psitined tward the tp. See "Pwer supply bay numbering." WARNING: A risk f electric shck frm high leakage current exists. Befre cnnecting the AC supply t the pwer enclsures, be sure that the electrical utlets are prperly grunded (earthed). The area where the enclsure is installed shuld be designated as a restricted access area, and the enclsure is intended t be used with a dedicated uninterruptible pwer supply (UPS) that uses an industrial style wall plug t insure a reliable prtective earth grund cnnectin. Each pwer supply in the enclsure can als be plugged directly int a lw-line wall utlet. Be sure there is enugh ttal amperage available in the wall utlets f yur facility t handle all pwer supplies installed in the enclsure. T determine the ttal amperage draw f yur BladeSystem c3000 Twer Enclsure cnfiguratin, see the HPE pwer calculatr ( Only trained service persnnel must perfrm installatin and maintenance. 2. Slide the pwer supply int the pwer supply bay until the device lcks int place. When installing a pwer supply in pwer supply bay 1, 2, r 3, rient the pwer supply s the plug is psitined tward the bttm. Fr AC redundant (N+N pwer supplies) cnfiguratins, an even number f pwer supplies is required. Fr this cnfiguratin, where N is the number f pwer supplies being used, ppulate the pwer supply bays as shwn. N + N Ppulate the fllwing pwer supply bays: and , 2, 4, and Ppulate all bays Fr pwer supply redundant (N+1 pwer supplies) cnfiguratins, where N is the number f pwer supplies being used, ppulate the pwer supply bays as shwn. 7 Cnnecting the Onbard Administratr management cables 1. Identify all cnnectrs. NOTE: 1x and 2x prt mezzanine cards interface with single-wide intercnnect s. 4x prt mezzanine cards interface with duble-wide intercnnect s. The term "1x/2x" refers t the number f intercnnect lanes per prt prvided by the cntrller. The mre lanes prvided per prt, the higher the data transmissin rate cming frm that prt. Use a CAT5 patch cable t cnnect t the management netwrk. This prt enables remte cmmunicatin with the Onbard Administratr, all ilo prts n each blade, and supprting intercnnect management parts. 4 OA2/iLO Reserved fr future Onbard Administratr cnnectins. NOTE: If the Onbard Administratr is cnnected t a netwrk with a DHCP server when yu pwer up the enclsure, the Onbard Administratr and each ilo (ne fr each blade) cnsumes a DHCP lease. 2. Cnnect the management netwrk with a standard CAT5 patch cable. Mapping t intercnnect prts Several prt types are referenced in the fllwing tables. Examples f 1x prts are 1-Gb Ethernet (1 GbE) switch s and Fibre Channel intercnnect s. An example f a 2x prt is a Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) intercnnect. (Reserved fr future use.) Examples f 4x prts are 10-Gb Ethernet (10 GbE) intercnnect s. The fllwing table lists the available cnfiguratins fr half-height devices installed in device bay N (1 8). 9 Device bay crsslinks Device bay crsslinks are wired between adjacent hrizntal device bay pairs. T supprt netwrk cnnectins fr specific signals, install an intercnnect in the bay crrespnding t the embedded NIC r mezzanine signals. Fr full-height blades, these signals are used t cnnect a PCIe t a partner blade in the lwer adjacent bay and require a PCIe pass-thru mezzanine card installed in mezzanine cnnectr 3. The Onbard Administratr disables the device bay crsslinks in instances where they cannt be used, such as when tw blades reside in adjacent device bays. Intercnnect bay crsslinks Intercnnect bay crsslinks are wired between adjacent intercnnect bay pairs. Bay-t-bay crsslinks Fr bay-t-bay cmmunicatin, the enclsure midplane prvides fur-trace SerDes signals between adjacent bays. Yu can enable these crsslinks t prvide -t- cnnectins. The Onbard Administratr disables the intercnnect bay crsslinks in instances where the crsslinks cannt be used, such as when tw different s reside in adjacent hrizntal intercnnect bays. 9

Install the intercnnect s based n the quantity rdered and the number f fabrics in the cnfiguratin. The enclsure ships with intercnnect bay dividers installed. The intercnnect bay dividers must be remved befre installing duble-wide intercnnect s. T remve an intercnnect bay divider, press the release tab, and pull the intercnnect bay divider ut f the enclsure. 2. Install intercnnect blanks in any unused intercnnect bays. 3. Cnnect each installed intercnnect t the external cnnectins with the apprpriate cable. NOTE: Intercnnect cables cnnect the enclsure devices t netwrk and SAN infrastructures. Be sure yu understand the implicatins f cnnecting these cables t the infrastructure befre pwering up the enclsure. Pwering up the enclsure 1. Cnnect the pwer cables t the pwer supplies. 2. Cnnect the pwer cables t the pwer surce (UPS r wall utlet) r t an installed PDU. Cnfiguring the HPE BladeSystem Onbard Administratr T cnfigure the Onbard Administratr, netwrk cnnectivity t the Onbard Administratr is recmmended. T establish netwrk cnnectivity, yu can use DHCP r cnfigure the IP address using the BladeSystem Insight Display. T cnfigure the IP address using the BladeSystem Insight Display: 1. On the Enclsure Settings screen, cnfirm the default settings. Use the navigatin arrws t navigate t a particular setting, and press OK. Navigate t the "?" bx next t a setting, and press OK t get help n that setting. 2. Use the arrw keys t navigate t the Enclsure Settings screen. 3. Frm the Enclsure Settings screen, navigate t the OA1 IP Address. 4. Set the IP Address, subnet mask, and gateway address fr the enclsure. T view the DHCP assigned IP address using the BladeSystem Insight Display: 1. On the Enclsure Settings screen, cnfirm the default settings. Use the navigatin arrws t navigate t a particular setting, and then press OK. 10

11 Navigate t the "?" bx next t a setting, and then press OK t get help n that setting. 2. Use the arrw keys t navigate t the Enclsure Settings screen. 3. Frm the Enclsure Settings screen, navigate t the OA1 IP Address field. 4. Write dwn the OA1 IP Address. After the Onbard Administratr begins t cmmunicate n the netwrk, cmplete the cnfiguratin f the Onbard Administratr using: The BladeSystem Insight Display Onbard Administratr First Time Setup Wizard (web interface) T set up the enclsure withut netwrk cnnectivity t the Onbard Administratr, see the BladeSystem Onbard Administratr User Guide. Setting up the Onbard Administratr using the BladeSystem Insight Display When the enclsure is pwered up fr the first time, the Insight Display launches an installatin wizard t guide yu thrugh the cnfiguratin prcess. After cnfiguring the enclsure, the Insight Display verifies that there are n installatin r cnfiguratin errrs. T distinguish the enclsure frm ther enclsures, the rear enclsure UID light and the backgrund f the Insight Display are illuminated blue when the enclsure is pwered n initially. 1. Cnfigure the IP address. (See "Cnfiguring the BladeSystem Onbard Administratr.)" 2. Cnfirm the Pwer Mde setting, which defaults t AC Redundant, fr the pwer supplies. 3. If the facility must limit AC pwer t the enclsure belw pwer levels drawn by the pwer supply, set the Pwer Limit Watts AC. 4. Enable Dynamic Pwer Savings t prvide the highest pwer efficiency withut affecting server perfrmance. 5. Recrd the OA1 and OA2 (if present) IP addresses. This infrmatin is needed when deplying the management sftware. If the OA1 r OA2 IP address is , set the address. Navigate t the address, and press OK. Use the up and dwn arrws t select Static IP address. Use the up and dwn arrws n each field t set the IP, subnet mask and gateway ne ctet at a time. Press OK when dne, and then press OK again r Accept t cnfirm the new IP address settings. If the address is nt , recrd the displayed address t use fr remte lgin t the Onbard Administratr ver the management netwrk. 6. (Optinal) Edit the Enclsure Name. The default value is the Onbard Administratr serial number. 7. (Optinal) Edit the Rack Name. The default value is UnnamedRack. 8. Set the Insight Display PIN t prevent ther users f the LCD frm changing the settings. 9. Navigate t Accept All at the bttm f the Enclsure Settings, and press OK t Accept all the settings t cntinue. If yu are setting up a single enclsure, prceed t step Navigate t Accept, and press OK t apply the Enclsure Settings (Pwer Mde, Pwer Limit, Dynamic Pwer, Rack Name, and Insight Display PIN) t ther linked enclsures. 11. Open a brwser and cnnect t the active Onbard Administratr using the Onbard Administratr IP address that was cnfigured during the Insight Display installatin wizard prcess. 14. Enter the user name and passwrd frm the tag supplied with the Onbard Administratr t access the remte Onbard Administratr web interface and cmplete the Onbard Administratr first time installatin wizard. Setting up the Onbard Administratr frm a web brwser using the First Time Setup Wizard T run the First Time Setup Wizard: 1. Cnfigure the IP address. (See "Cnfiguring the BladeSystem Onbard Administratr.)" 2. Cnnect an Ethernet cable t the Onbard Administratr. 3. Navigate t the IP Address field in the Onbard Administratr First Time Setup Wizard. 4.
