Abu Dhabi Plan Exhibition Presents the Emirate s Strategic Planning and Future Characteristics Lunch of an Electronic Version of the Exhibition through the Plan s Website Launch of the Abu Dhabi Plan website to update the people on developments in the Plan s execution over the next five years Abu Dhabi, 16 June 2016: The Abu Dhabi Plan Exhibition, which opened yesterday evening at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, attracted a large crowd of Abu Dhabi Government employees and other social segments during its second day. The exhibition was launched on its first day by HH Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council as part of the Abu Dhabi government forum, during which announcements were made on developments in the Abu Dhabi Plan in the presence of HH, excellencies, high level government officials, representatives of the private sector in the Emirate and Abu Dhabi Government employees. The exhibition seeks to raise awareness concerning the Abu Dhabi Plan in an interactive and creative way, and to introduce the public to the importance of developing work in government sectors. The exhibition was divided into six stations that provide information for youths and next generations, investors and businessmen, residents and families, and tourists and visitors.
The exhibition will also be moved to several locations within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and an electronic version of it will be released on the Plan s official website, to encourage various segments of the Abu Dhabi community and employees in various sectors to participate actively in executing the Plan. The first section of the exhibition reviews 50 years of strategic planning in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, from 1966 until today. The timeline introduces visitors to the link between the Abu Dhabi Plan and previous achievements, including the General Policy Agenda that set the key objectives and initiatives for the Abu Dhabi Government. It also mentions the 2030 Urban Structure Framework Plan and the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision This part further explains the steps taken to draft the Abu Dhabi Plan, the idea of which emerged after a report on the status of the Emirate was published with data on government achievements and challenges. The report was followed by workshops with government entities aimed at proposing development ideas to deal with these challenges and at determining the priorities of these entities, each according to its field of specialization. These outputs were then put together in a comprehensive strategic plan seeing to achieve 25 objectives and including 83 programs. The second section of the exhibition explains the Plan, its objectives and its programs using a wall with 25 doors representing the Plan s objectives. The wall also has 83 nails representing the number of programs within the Plan. Strings of four colours are provided and each visitor chooses the colour that most suits him/her from the four segments of the Plan: youths and next generations, investors and businessmen, residents and families, and tourists and visitors. Visitors can then link the programs they deem important as part of the Abu Dhabi community, thus forming
a complementary chain using these threads linking the programs the Government is hoping to implement. The third section of the exhibition focuses on targets and some KPIs that are divided between five sectors: economic development; social development; security, justice and safety; infrastructure; environment; and government affairs. The fourth section of the exhibition offers a giant screen that displays more than 100 pictures contributed by government entities to introduce the public to their development projects. The screen is equipped with sensors that activate when a visitor comes close to it to show windows displaying the progress government entities have made in achieving the Plan s objectives and implementing its programs according to the 2015 Government Performance Report. This gives the public a chance to see the great work already done by government entities to reach the goals of the Abu Dhabi Plan. Visitors of the exhibition continue their journey through the fifth section by viewing a large map of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi linked to two boards. One of the boards shows the locations of the most important projects whose performance is being tracked as part of the Plan, including housing projects, the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Al Ain hospital and Shakhbut Medical City. The second board displays current and proposed projects according to type and distribution across the Emirate. The board counts over 530 current and proposed project to be executed by government entities over the next five years.
The sixth section of the exhibition includes digital tables divided into four according to social segments. They highlight the objectives and programs related to each segment, in addition to statistics on the completion rates of the projects adopted to meet these objectives. They aim to show the public how the Abu Dhabi Plan is important for them. About the Abu Dhabi Plan The Abu Dhabi Plan is a reflection of the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It represents a strategic blueprint designed to guide the growth and development of Abu Dhabi. The Plan, which was developed in cooperation with 65 government entities in Abu Dhabi, has 25 key objectives divided into five sectors of government work, i.e. Social development sector, economic development sector, infrastructure and environment sector, security, justice and safety sector, and the government affairs sector so as to ensure the continuous development of Abu Dhabi. These objectives are to be achieved through a series of 83 programmes and projects, continuously monitored and evaluated based on performance indicators and periodic reports, in order to ensure smooth progress in the implementation of Abu Dhabi Plan so as to ensure the Emirate significantly benefits from the Plan. The Abu Dhabi Plan, which is seen as the translation and updating of the policy agenda of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, aims to achieve the vision of Abu Dhabi by adopting the long-term government objectives and associated programmes as well as the key indicators to monitor the achievement of these objectives at the
government level in general so as to ensure that the Plan covers all government work activities and fields. Website The Abu Dhabi Plan s website includes all information relevant to the plan. Its home page includes a promotional video, an introduction, the main sectors covered by the Plan, and the Plan s objectives and programs. The website offers an interactive interface that visitors can use to get more familiar with the programs they seek information about. The website also allows visitors to register to a newsletter in order to receive continuous updates regarding the website and the Plan s implementation over the coming years. The content of the Abu Dhabi Plan Exhibition will be uploaded to the website in a creative and interactive method. An electronic copy of the Plan will also be available for download.
