1 ipod & MP3 Player eaudiobooks and downloadable music: PinDigital and Freegal PinDigital eaudiobooks 1. Install Overdrive for Windows or Mac App: Go to Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Download for Windows Desktop or Available for Mac. Follow the prompts to download the software. When finished installing, Overdrive will create a shortcut on your desktop. 2. If you have an Apple device, you must first make an adjustment in itunes before transferring. Plug in your device, then open itunes. Select device in left column. Choose the Manually Manage Music option under Summary. Additionally, go to Edit and Preferences. Under the General tab, click Import Settings. Change the setting to Spoken Podcast. 1

2 3. Go to on your computer and sign in (top right) with your Joliet Library card number. Then, locate an eaudiobook to check out. You can find eaudiobooks using the Search Box, or by browsing through one of the Collections or Subjects. 4. When you have chosen your title, click Borrow and then Loans from the black box (you can also access your Loans at any time from My Account). Choose Download MP3 Audiobook. Then click Confirm. 5. Open the downloaded file to begin (you may see file appear in the bottom left corner, or in downloads folder). Choose OK to confirm download location, and choose OK to start the download. 2

3 6. Once your book has downloaded, connect your Device to your computer. Select your book, then click Transfer. Choose OK to confirm download location. When prompted, choose your device from the Player menu, then choose Next. Choose Finish when the book has transferred. TIP: Returning/Deleting eaudiobook: Select Delete, then confirm Return/ Delete. You can then delete the files from your device with itunes or Windows Media Player. 3

4 Freegal (downloadable music) Freegal is a free downloadable music service that offers access to about 13 million songs, including Sony Music s catalog of legendary artists, and over 40,000 music videos. There is no software to download, and there are no digital rights management (DRM) restrictions. You are entitled to 5 downloads per week. All downloaded music is yours to keep. You can find more information on Freegal, including FAQs page, on our website under Installing Freegal App 1. Open the App Store on your device. 2. Search for Freegal. Tap Get, then Install. 4

5 3. Enter your zip code or city and tap Go. 4. Choose the Joliet Public Library and type in your JPL card number. 5. When prompted, read and agree to the Terms and Conditions to continue. 6. The Home tab lists top singles and artists that you can either stream or download. You can browse by Top Artists, Top Songs, Top Genres, or Music Videos. Do download a song, tab the arrow on the right. 5

6 7. You can download up to five songs a week. Once downloaded, songs are added to your My Music file, located under the More tab. To log out from Freegal, tab Settings. Downloading Music from Freegal to itunes 1. Go to In the top right, click the Login link and sign in with your Joliet Public Library card number. 2. 7 3. To download, once you ve chosen a song, click Download Now. You can also add the song to your Wishlist. 4. Wishlist songs and recent downloads can be accessed here: 5. To add downloaded songs to your itunes Music Library, open itunes and go to File menu, then click on Add File to Library. 7

8 6. Click the Downloads folder and choose the song to add. Click Open. The song is now added to your itunes Music Library. Sync this song to your device through itunes. 8

10 5. To add downloaded songs to your Windows Media Player Music Library, open My Computer, then open Downloads folder, where you will see the song. 6. Open your Windows Media Player. From your Downloads, drag the new song into the Windows Media Player library, and click on Add to Library. 7. Plug your device into a computer. You can now transfer songs to your device in Windows Media Player by dragging the song toward right and clicking on Sync. 10
