2 Summary Cloudamize vcenter Agent Installer can be used by vcenter administrators intending to install Cloudamize's agent on their Virtual Machines. Traditionally the agent is installed manually on all the endpoints, Cloudamize vcenter Agent Installer helps installing the agent remotely and maintains an inventory. Requirements 1. Windows machine (XP and above). 2. Cloudamize customer key. (Cloudamize customer key can be found by logging into Cloudamize's Assess application and navigating to Settings under Agent Installation). 3. VM Sharing enabled for the vcenter. 4. VMware Guest tools should be installed on the VM's on which the Cloudamize's agent is to be installed. 5. Target virtual machine should have access to the internet. Installation Cloudamize vcenter Agent Installer ships as a zip file. To install Cloudamize vcenter Agent Installer, unzip the contents to a folder say c:/cloudamize Agent Installer. The launcher (cloudamize-vcenteragent-installer.exe) can be found under c:/cloudamize vcenter Agent Installer/bin. Doubleclick cloudamize-vcenter-agent-installer.exe to launch the application. Usage Double-click cloudamize-vcenter-agent-installer.exe to launch the application. The application will prompt the user to key in the Cloudamize customer key. Cloudamize customer key can be copied by by logging into Cloudamize's Asses application and navigating to Settings under Agent Installation.

3 Ones the key is entered, application will prompt to enter the vcenter details. 1. vcenter Name: User provided name for the vcenter. 2. IP Address: IP address of the vcenter server. 3. User Name: User name to authenticate against the vcenter server. 4. Password: Password to authenticate against the vcenter server. 5. Port: Port number for VM Sharing. Defaults to Save Credentials: Checking this check box will save the credentials for future use. If this checkbox is left uncheck, next time when the application launches it will prompt for the credentials. After successful authentication the application will be launched. Using the provided credentials it will login to the vcenter and attempt to discover all the VM's.

4 The following details of the VM's will be displayed to the user after the discovery. 1. VM Name: Name of the Virtual Machine 2. Host Name :Host Name of the Virtual Machine. 3. IP Address: IP Adress of the Virtual Machine. 4. Operating System: Operating System installed on the virtual machine. This information will be more accurately displayed if VMware guest tools are installed on this Virtual Machine. 5. VMware Guest Tools Status: Identifies if the target Virtual Machine has VMware Guest Tool installed or not. Possible Values (Installed, Not Installed). 6. Agent Status: Identifies if Cloudamize's Agent is installed on this Virtual Machine or not. Possible Values (Installed, Not Installed). 7. Action: Installation of Cloudamize's agent can be initiated by clicking on the "Install Agent" button under the Action column. This button will only appear for those Virtual Machine records which have VMware guest tools installed on them. Possible values for this column ("Install Agent" button, "Install VMware Guest Tools" label) Toolbar: Add To Group: This button will launch a pop-up which will enable the user to add the selected VM's to a Group. Install Agent : This button will trigger the installation of agent on this group.

5 Enter Credentials: This button will launch a pop-up where the user name and password for the group can be specified. Delete Group: This button will delete the selected group. Group can only be deleted if there are no VM's in that group. Edit Customer Key: This button will launch a pop-up which will enable the user to modify the customer key. Edit vcenter Info: This button will launch a pop-up to enable the user to modify vcenter Credentials. Installing Agent: The first step towards installing an agent would be to club all the virtual machines with the same username and password into a Group. A Default group will be provided by the app for the user and initially all the VM's will be added to this Default Group. This can be achieved by checking the checkboxes against the VM's those needs to be added to the group and click the button to launch the below pop-up. This pop-up will enable the user to create a new group or add the selected VM's in an existing group. After all the required VM's are added to a group user can choose to install the agent by clicking on. The user will be prompted to enter the credentials for this group as shown below. Ones the user enters the credentials the app will try to install agent on all the VM's under this group by using the

6 provided credentials as login credentials for those VM's. User will be prompted for Username and Password only ones. User can chose to change the credentials by clicking on credentials. Installation would not be triggered after the save.. Entering credentials will only save the 1. User Name: User Name of the Virtual Machine. 2. Password: Password of the Virtual Machine. 3. Root/Administrator credentials are needed to install Cloudamize's Agent. The progress can be monitored by looking at the running logs at the bottom of the application. Ones the installation attempt is completed the application will reflect the status of Agent Installation against that machine under "Agent Status" column.
