Istallatio ad Uistallatio Istallatio procedure 1 Isert the supplied CD-ROM ito your computer s CD/DVD drive. The iitial meu appears o the scree. If the iitial meu does ot appear, select the CD/DVD drive from My Computer, the double-click Setup.exe ad go o to step 3. 2 Click Istall BODiBEAT Statio from the iitial meu. The istallatio starts. After the message Please plug i your BODiBEAT device appears, coect the BF-1 to the computer with the supplied USB cable. 3 Execute the istallatio by followig the oscree istructios. Recovery procedure If some files required by this software are lost or do ot exist because of istallatio failure, you ca use the followig procedure to recover them. The actual ames of the meu items ad buttos will deped o the OS versio you are usig. 1 Select [Cotrol Pael] from the [start] meu, the double-click Add or Remove Programs (for Widows XP), Programs ad Features or Uistall a program (for Widows Vista). 2 Select BODiBEAT Statio amog the istalled programs, the click [Repair] or [Chage]. 4 About the BODiBEAT Statio Uistallatio procedure If for some reaso you o loger eed this software ad wat to uistall it, follow these istructios: The actual ames of the meu items ad buttos will deped o the OS versio you are usig. 1 Select [Cotrol Pael] from the [start] meu, the double-click Add or Remove Programs (for Widows XP), Programs ad Features or Uistall a program (for Widows Vista). 2 Select BODiBEAT Statio amog the istalled programs, the click [Remove] (for Widows XP) or [Uistall] (for Widows Vista). The cofirmatio dialog appears. Follow the oscree istructios to remove the software. If you wat to uistall the software temporarily i order to update the software, click No at the Uistall user data? message. Doig this preserves your custom preferece settigs ad Library cotets, which will be restored after the software is re-istalled. 5 Viewig the Exercise Logs Viewig the Exercise Logs By coectig the BF-1 device to the computer, you ca import recorded logs of your exercise sessios ito the software. The imported exercise logs ca be show i graph or list form. Graph View Whe you wat to view the exercise log i graph format or you wat to chage the graph format or item(s) to be show i the horizotal ad/or vertical axis, follow the procedure below. You ca view ot oly idividual exercise sessios but also cumulative data over a week or moth. The log graph is automatically saved uder the Exercise Library whe the dialog closes. 1 Click Exercise Library i the Library List, the select the desired exercise log i the Library View. h If you select a blue graph ico uder the Exercise Library, you ca quickly see the latest log i a stadard graph format. 2 From the [File] meu, select [New Log View] [Graph View ]. The Graph View Dialog opes. 3 I the dialog, specify the display format i which graph is show. Rage y-axis Show traiig program graph Compare best time Always display the latest log data Specify the uit for the x-axis (horizotal) of the graph. Workout, week or moth ca be selected. Specify the uit for the y-axis (vertical) of the graph. Distace, time, pace (mi/mile), speed (mile/mi), calories or HR (heart rate) ca be selected. ( Distace ad calories caot be selected whe you select Workout i the Rage parameter.) Whe you wat to view the exercise log of traiig mode, checkig here eables you to view the graph of the traiig program together with the exercise log graph. This settig is available oly whe you select Workout i the Rage parameter. Checkig here eables you to compare your best time ad the curretly selected exercise log. Your best time is automatically calculated from all exercise logs ad displayed together with the curret exercise log graph. This settig is available oly whe you select Workout i the Rage parameter ad Pace or Speed i the y-axis parameter. Checkig here eables the latest log data to be opeed whe you select a graph i the Library List after the BODiBEAT Statio is started. 6 Viewig the Exercise Logs 4 Click [OK]. The dialog will close ad the exercise log graph will displayed i the Library View. The graph color differs depeds o the selected y-axis item. 7 Viewig the Exercise Logs List View Whe you wat to view the exercise log i list format or you wat to chage the list format or item(s) to be show i the list, follow the procedure below. You ca view ot oly idividual exercise sessios but also cumulative data over a week or moth. The log list is automatically saved uder the Exercise Library whe the dialog closes. 1 Click Exercise Library i the Library List, the select the desired exercise log i the Library View. h If you select blue list ico uder the Exercise Library, you ca quickly see the latest log i a list format. 2 From the [File] meu, select [New Log View] [List View ]. The List View Dialog opes. 3 I the dialog, specify the display format for the list. Specify the display uit i the Rage parameter. Workout, week or moth ca be selected. Checkmark the desired items which you wat to display o the list. If you check Always display the latest log data, the latest log data will ope whe you select a graph/list i the Library List after the BODiBEAT Statio is started. 4 Click [OK]. The dialog will close ad the exercise log list will displayed i the Library View. Operatios o the list Clickig PREV or NEXT at the top of the list calls up the list of the previous/ext log(s). To chage the order of colums, simply drag the colum to the desired locatio. Whe may colums are displayed, you ca scroll through the list by draggig the slider at the bottom of the list. Chagig the display format You ca call up ad edit the List View dialog by selectig [Properties ] from the [File] meu or from the right-click meu o the desired exercise log i the Library List. h The list ca be prited (page 20). 8 Viewig the Exercise Logs Deletig Exercise Logs You ca delete exercise logs from the BF-1 ad BODiBEAT Statio. CAUTION Please ote that deleted logs caot be restored. 1 Click Exercise Library i the Library List, the select the logs you wat to delete i the Library View. 2 Select [Delete] from the [Edit] meu or from right-click meu. 3 Coect the BF-1 to the computer. Sychroizatio betwee the device ad computer is doe ad the logs selected i step 2 are deleted from the Data meu of the BF-1. If the BF-1 has already bee coected, select [Syc...] from the [File] meu to sychroize. BODiBEAT Statio Ower s Maual 8

9 Creatig ad Maagig a Traiig Program Creatig ad Maagig a Traiig Program This software allows you to easily create traiig programs for use with the BF1, lettig you eter desired itervals ad targets from your computer keyboard, ad the view a graphical represetatio of the traiig program. Creatig a ew traiig program 1 Click Traiig Library i the Library List. 2 Select [New Traiig Program] from the [File] meu. New Traiig Program is added uder the Traiig Library ad a blak program is opeed i the Library View. 3 Select the programmig items from the pull-dow meu i the Library View. Iterval Target Set the scale of traiig legth: time or distace. If you chage this settig i the middle of programmig, the etered date will be cleared (cofirmatio message will appear). Select the traiig itesity from Pace, Tempo, HR (Heart Rate) or %HRR. %HRR is represeted as (HR Restig HR)/(MaxHR Restig HR). 4 Eter the value i each cell. Click the desired cell ad eter the value. The uits for the values are: Iterval Target Time miutes: secods (at 1-secod itervals) Distace mile (at 0.1-mile itervals) or km (at 0.1-km itervals) Pace miutes: secods (per mile or km) Tempo bpm HR bpm %HRR % The uit of Distace ad Pace depeds o the settig i the System tab of the Preferece settigs (page 19). Whe you eter the target itesity, the referece value will be automatically calculated ad displayed. For example, whe you eter the %HRR value, the correspodig HR value is displayed ext to the %HRR value. Whe you eter the tempo, the correspodig pace value is displayed ext to the tempo value. As you eter the value, the correspodig graph will be displayed beeath the list, allowig you to cofirm the traiig program visually. BODiBEAT Statio Ower s Maual 9

10 Creatig ad Maagig a Traiig Program At the top right of the Library View, the total time (or total distace) is automatically calculated ad displayed as you eter the time/distace. The created traiig program is automatically saved uder the Traiig Library. Operatios o the list/graph Hoverig the mouse over data poits o the graph will show the values for each poit usig pop-up tool tips. Right clickig o a cell of the list opes the pop-up meu to edit (copy, paste, delete, etc.) h The traiig program ca be prited (page 20). Loadig ad Editig Traiig Programs o the BF-1 device 1 Coect the BF-1 device to the computer. The device ad computer are sychroized ad ay traiig programs o the device are loaded to the computer. If the BF-1 has already bee coected, select [Syc...] from the [File] meu to sychroize. Or you ca also trasfer a specific traiig program by draggig the desired oe i the Library List, from the BF-1 to the Traiig Library. For details about sychroizatio, refer to page 18. CAUTION Never discoect the USB cable while data is beig trasferred. Doig so may cause loss of data or damage to the device. 2 Click Traiig Library i the Library List, the select the desired traiig program uder the traiig library for editig. The selected traiig program is show i the Library View. 3 Edit the traiig program (see steps 3 ad 4 o page 9). 4 After editig, trasfer the edited traiig program to the device by selectig [Syc...] from the [File] meu. You ca also trasfer a specific traiig program by draggig the desired oe i the Library List, from the Traiig Library to the BF-1. Up to 99 programs ca be displayed o the BF-1. (This limit applies eve if 100 or more programs have bee trasferred to the device.) BODiBEAT Statio Ower s Maual 10

11 Maagig Sog Data Maagig Sog Data Available File Format This software ca use sog files of the followig file formats. MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV AAC ad WMA cotet which uses DRM (Digital Rights Maagemet) is ot supported. WAV files of 24 bit ad 32 bit are ot supported. Whe you import AAC format files, some of the sog iformatio may ot be displayed. Importig ad Playig Back Sog Data You ca import sogs o the hard disk to the software, the play them back. The BODiBEAT Statio caot directly import the sog data from a music CD. You will eed to import sogs from the CD to your computer i advace, usig a CD rippig software, such as Widows Media Player. 1 Ope the folder which cotais the desired sog(s), the drag the sog(s) ito the BODiBEAT Statio widow. Aalysis of the data (tempo, gere, etc.) starts automatically. After aalyzig, the selected sog(s) is added to the Music Library. Sog iformatio (sog ame, artist ame, album title, sog tempo, etc.) are show o the Library View. h If you wat to import all sogs i a folder, drag the folder cotaiig the sogs. All the sogs i the folder are imported at the same time. h Istead of draggig, you ca also import sog(s) by selectig [Add files to Library ] or [Add folders to Library ] from the [File] meu. Importig data will take a log time (up to oe-quarter of the sog legth) sice the sog s tempo characteristics are thoroughly checked ad aalyzed automatically i real time. The aalysis time may differ depedig o your particular computer. 2 Playback the desired sog with the Play Cotrols. The Play Cotrols area cotais cotrols related to sog playback. Clickig this whe the sog is playig pauses playback. Click this to go to top of the sog. Whe sog playback is stopped, clickig this goes to the previous sog. Clickig ad holdig this will rewid the sog. Click this to go to ext sog. Clickig ad holdig this will fast forward the sog. Drag this to adjust the playback volume. Use this whe you wat to search for a specific sog or traiig program (page 12). Shows sog ame ad artist ame. Shows elapsed time. Drag this to fast forward/rewid the sog. Shows the tempo of the curretly selected sog. You ca also cotrol playback from the [Cotrols] meu (page 25). Depedig o the sog characteristics, the sog tempo which is automatically detected by the BODiBEAT Statio may differ from the actual tempo. If the detected tempo is ot appropriate, you ca maually correct it from the Properties dialog (page 15). Searchig for Sogs by Keyword I the Music Library, sogs are sorted i several ways: by artist ame, album title, tempo, gere, etc., allowig you to choose the desired sog i the most coveiet way. I additio, you ca search for a desired sog by eterig a keyword as follows. 1 Type the keyword i the Search field o the Play Cotrols. As you type, sogs that cotai the etered keyword are displayed o the Library View. Creatig a Playlist A Playlist is a compilatio of sogs. This software hadles Playlists i two differet ways, accordig to their type: Stadard Playlist ad Smart Playlist. A Stadard Playlist ca be created by choosig (collectig) sogs as you wat. This allows you to create origial compilatios, effectively makig your ow albums. A Smart Playlist is created automatically based o rules you set up. For example, you ca specify coditios such as Year is betwee ad Tempo is greater tha 140 bpm. The sogs that match both coditios are automatically selected from the Music Library ad are grouped together to BODiBEAT Statio Ower s Maual 12

13 Maagig Sog Data create a Smart Playlist. As you add/delete sog(s) i the Music Library, Smart Playlists will automatically be updated. h The Music Library features two coveiet preset Smart Playlists: Walk ad Jog. Sogs i the Music Library are automatically assiged to the Walk or Jog Playlist depedig o their tempo. By default, sogs of a tempo of bpm are assiged to the Walk Playlist ad those of bpm are assiged to Jog Playlist. As you exercise, the tempo for these playlists is updated accordig to the Learig Fuctio of the device. Creatig a Stadard Playlist 1 Click Music Library from the Library List. 2 Select [New Playlist] from the [File] meu. As a ew Playlist is added o the Library List, eter the desired Playlist ame. 3 Click Music Library from the Library List agai. All the sogs are show i the Library View. 4 Choose the sog(s) you wat to add to the Playlist from the Library View, the drag them ito the Playlist created i step 2 above. The sog(s) are added to the Playlist. Whe you wat to delete sog(s) from the Playlist, click the desired sog i the Playlist ad select [Delete] from the [Edit] meu. h You ca also delete a sog by right-clickig o it ad selectig [Delete] from the pop-up meu. Creatig a Smart Playlist 1 Click Music Library from the Library List. 2 Select [New Smart Playlist] from the [File] meu. The Smart Playlist dialog appears. 3 Set the desired coditios for the Smart Playlist from the dialog. To add a coditio, click [+]. To delete a coditio, click [-]. 4 Click [OK]. A ew Smart Playlist is created ad listed o the Library List. If ecessary you ca chage the ame. h You ca edit the coditios of the Smart Playlist at ay time by selectig [Properties ] from the [File] meu or from the right-click meu o the desired Smart Playlist. 14 Maagig Sog Data Trasferrig Sog Data/Playlist to the Device This operatio lets you trasfer sog data ad Playlists i the Music Library to the BF-1 device. The sogs trasferred to the device ca be listeed to whe you exercise, or played back i the Music mode. 1 Coect the BF-1 to the computer. Sychroizatio betwee the device ad computer is doe ad sog data o the computer is trasferred to the device. If the BF-1 has already bee coected, select [Syc...] from the [File] meu to sychroize. For details about sychroizatio, refer to page 18. Whe the BF-1 does ot have eough free space, a dialog will appear promptig you to cotiue trasferrig. If you check Radomly select sogs to be trasferred, the differet sogs will be trasferred to the BF-1 each time. CAUTION Never discoect the USB cable while data is beig trasferred. Doig so may cause loss of data or damage to the device. Removig the BF-1 device from the computer After trasferrig sog data, you ca remove the device from the computer safely with the followig procedure. 1 Double-click Safely Remove Hardware ico o the Widows task bar. The Safely Remove Hardware dialog appears. 2 Cofirm that the Display device compoet is checkmarked, select Yamaha BODiBEAT USB Device, the click [Stop]. The Stop a Hardware device dialog appears. 3 Click [OK]. 4 Discoect the USB cable from the computer. BODiBEAT Statio Ower s Maual 14

15 Maagig Sog Data Editig the Sog Iformatio The iformatio for each sog is displayed o the Library View. You ca edit the desired item by selectig [Properties...] from the [File] meu. Chages made here for the BODiBEAT Statio are valid oly o this software ad the BF-1 device itself. If the sog file which has bee imported to the BODiBEAT Statio is removed from the origial locatio, the sog is show i red o the Library View ad you caot play/edit it. Editig the Sog Tempo If the tempo (detected automatically whe the sog is imported) is ot appropriate, you ca re-aalyze the tempo by the followig operatio. 1 Select the desired sog to edit from the Library View. 2 Select [Properties ] from the [File] meu. The Properties dialog opes ad the iformatio of the sog is show. 3 Click the [Edit Tempo ] butto. The Edit Tempo dialog opes. 4 Click the [Start] butto. Sog playback begis. 5 Click the [Tap here] butto four times or more i time with the rhythm of the sog. The sog tempo detected based o your clicks is show i the New Tempo Estimate field o the dialog. 6 Click [OK] to close the Edit Tempo dialog. The click [OK] agai i the Properties dialog. The dialog closes ad the sog is re-aalyzed. After aalyzig, the detected tempo is show o the Library View. If you directly edit the bpm value i the Audio Item Properties dialog, the tempo value show i the Library View will be chaged, but tempo aalysis will ot be performed. BODiBEAT Statio Ower s Maual 15

16 Maagig Sog Data Viewig a Tempo Map This shows the tempo distributio for all sogs i Music Library. 1 Select [Music Tempo Map ] from the [Advaced] meu. The Tempo Statistics dialog opes ad the tempo graph is show. Movig the cursor over the bars o the graph shows the correspodig tempo rage ad sog file umber, allowig you to see how may sogs exist for a specified tempo rage i the Music Library. 2 Click [OK] to close the dialog. FYI What is your ormal exercise tempo? Your exercise tempo ca be checked i the Exercise Library. View your exercise logs by list (page 7) ad check the Tempo row. (If the Tempo row is ot show, check Tempo i the List View dialog.) Oce you kow roughly what your exercise tempo is, you ca search for sogs that fall withi this tempo. It is also a good idea to create a playlist which cotais sogs of the same tempo (page 12). By trasferrig those sogs to the BF-1 maually, you ca have a wide variety of your favorite sogs for listeig to as you exercise. BODiBEAT Statio Ower s Maual 16

17 Preferece Settigs Preferece Settigs I the Prefereces meu, you ca eter user iformatio, overall display-related settigs ad sychroizatio with the device. User iformatio settigs 1 From the [Edit] meu, select [Prefereces ]. The Prefereces dialog appears. I the Persoal Iformatio tab, you ca eter the followig items. User Name Birthday Sex Height Weight Eter your ame. Eter your birthday. Select from the pull-dow meu or eter the date directly. Select Male or Female from the pull-dow meu. Eter your height. The uit (feet or meters) used here depeds o the settig i the System tab. Eter your weight. The uit (pouds or kg) used here depeds o the settig i the System tab. Clickig the [Details ] butto calls up the followig two items for editig. Stride Heart Rate Walk/Jog Tempo (For Fitess mode) Eter your stride for both walkig ad joggig. Clickig the [Stadard] butto automatically eters the ormal value calculated from your height (height x 0.5 for walkig stride; height x 0.8 for joggig stride). Eter your maximum heart rate ad restig heart rate. Clickig the [Stadard] butto automatically eters the ormal value calculated from your age (the maximum heart rate is calculated by 220 age; the restig heart rate is 60). Eter your comfort tempo (startig tempo ad maximum tempo) i Walk Fitess ad Jog Fitess modes. Clickig the [Stadard] butto automatically eters the default value: for Walk ad for Jog. The Walk/Jog Tempo settigs affect the tempo of the Walk/Jog playlists (page 13). The Walk/Jog Tempo value may automatically be chaged affected by the Learig Fuctio of the BF- 1. For details about Learig Fuctio, refer to the Ower's Maual of the BF-1. 2 Click [OK] to close the dialog. Whe coectig the BF-1 to a computer, persoal iformatio is automatically sychroized betwee the two. For details about sychroizatio, refer to page 18. BODiBEAT Statio Ower s Maual 17

18 Preferece Settigs Sychroize settig with the device Whe you coect the BF-1 to the computer or select the [Syc...] meu from the [File] meu, sychroizatio betwee the device ad computer is completed. This makes sure that the data o both the device ad computer are of the latest status (older data is overwritte by updated). If you made some chages o both the device ad computer after the last sychroizatio, the settigs here will be recogized as the most recet ad become effective. Whe you coect the BF-1 to the computer or select [Syc...] from the [File] meu, a prompt dialog appears. If you click No at the prompt, the Traiig Library ad Music Library will ot be sychroized. However, the Exercise Library, persoal iformatio ad display-related settigs will automatically be sychroized regardless of this prompt. 1 From the [Edit] meu, select [Prefereces ]. The Prefereces dialog appears. 2 Clickig the Syc tab shows the followig item. If there is a coflict: This allows you to select which has priority (the BF-1 device or BODiBEAT Statio) whe the traiig programs, persoal iformatio or display-related settigs o the BF-1 ad o the BODiBEAT Statio coflict. If oly the BF-1 or BODiBEAT Statio have bee chaged sice beig sychroized previously, the chaged data from either, is adopted regardless of this coflict settig. 19 Preferece Settigs Display-related settigs 1 From the [Edit] meu, select [Prefereces ]. The Prefereces dialog appears. 2 Clickig the System tab shows the followig items. 20 Pritig the Library Pritig the Library If you have a priter coected to the computer, you ca prit the Library cotets. By pritig out the playlist program or traiig program, you ca easily refer to the specific items ad data cotaied i playlist/traiig program you ve selected o the device. Also, pritig the exercise logs ad keepig a paper file of them gives you a coveiet record of your exercise progress. 1 Select the desired item to prit from the Library List. 2 Select [Prit ] from the [File] meu. The Prit Preview dialog appears. 3 (Whe pritig the Music Library) select the desired item to prit from the pull-dow meu. Sogs Custom Prit the sog title, legth, album ame ad artist ame. 21 Trasfer the Library to Aother Computer Trasfer the Library to Aother Computer If you have two or more computers, or if you get a ew computer, you ca save the library as a file ad use it o the other computer. CAUTION Whe you coect the BF-1 to a ew computer ad associate with it, the data o the BF-1 will be lost. Before coectig the BF-1 with a ew computer, make sure you have coected your BF-1 with the curret computer ad imported its data to the BODiBEAT Statio. Savig all libraries i oe file 1 Select [Export Library ] from the [File] meu. The file save dialog appears. Specify the destiatio to save ad eter the file ame. 2 Click [Save]. All libraries i the software are saved as a file. The sog files are ot icluded i the exported file. The saved file is ecrypted so that a error message may be appear whe you try to ope the file. This is ormal ad you ca import this ecrypted file to the BODiBEAT Statio. Savig a specific library as a file If you wat to save the Exercise Library i order to import to aother computer, follow the istructios i Savig all libraries i oe file above. The steps below let you save the Exercise Library just as a image file of the log graph or as a text file of the log list. They caot be imported to the BODiBEAT Statio. 1 Select the desired item i the Library List. As for the Exercise Library or Traiig Library, the etire Library caot be selected. Select the desired item withi the Library. 2 Select [Export ] from the [File] meu. The file save dialog appears. Specify the destiatio to save ad eter the file ame. If you trasfer the Music Library to aother computer, sogs will ot be played back eve though the sog list is show i the Library View.
