The SMRT43 has the smart combiatio of small size, light weight, with high power. The SMRT43 test system has the ability to be maually cotrolled with Megger s Smart Touch View Iterface (STVI) hadheld cotroller ruig the ew RTMS, Relay Testig Maagemet Software. The STVI, with its large, full color, high resolutio, TFT LCD touch scree allows the user to perform maual, steady-state ad dyamic testig quickly ad easily usig the maual test scree, as well as usig built-i preset test routies for most popular relays. The STVI elimiates the eed for a computer whe testig virtually all types of relays. Meu screes ad touch scree fuctio buttos are provided to quickly ad easily select the desired test fuctio. to maage all aspects of protective relay testig usig the ew Megger SMRT test system. APPLICATIONS The test system may be customized by addig the umber of Voltage-Curret, VIGEN, modules eeded for specific test applicatios, with a maximum of 3 chaels. For example, the SMRT43 with three VIGEN Modules provides complete three-phase testig of three-phase impedace, directioal power, egative sequece overcurret ad other devices that require a three-phase four-wire wye coected sources. The 4th voltage chael provides a AC referece / sychroizig / polarizig voltage, or a DC battery simulator voltage source. Each curret chael is rated for VA rms cotiuous, ad up to VA rms for short duratios. For testig relay paels or electromechaical relays, it has a uique flat power curve from 4 to 30 Amps that isures maximum compliace voltage to the load at all times. With a maximum compliace voltage of 50 Volts rms per phase, two chaels i series provide 100 Volts to test high impedace relays. Three currets i parallel provide test currets up to 12 Amperes at 600 VA for testig groud overcurret relays at high multiples of tap ratig. For full automatic testig the SMRT43 may be cotrolled by Megger Advaced Visual Test Software (AVTS). AVTS is a Microsoft Widows XP /Vista /7/8 compatible software program desiged With three currets i parallel it ca provide up to 135 Amps at 900 VA for testig istataeous overcurret relays. Each voltage chael ca provide variable outputs of 0-30/150/ 300 Volts at 150 VA of output power. Automatic rage chagig is doe o-the-fly ad uder load. For testig a pael of relays or older electromechaical impedace relays, it has a uique flat power curve from 30 to 150 Volts isurig maximum output power to the load at all times.

3 MANUAL OPERATION The optioal Smart Touch View Iterface (STVI) touch scree allows the user to perform maual, steady-state ad dyamic testig quickly ad easily. Ergoomically desiged with the cotrol kob, ad the touch scree, ad the powerful RTMS software is extremely easy to use. Higher Output Curret The SMRT43 provides up 30 Amps at 200 VA per phase cotiuous, or up to 45 Amperes at 300 VA with a 1.5 secod duty cycle. Three curret amplifiers ca be paralleled to provide a maximum of 135 Amperes at 900 VA for testig istataeous overcurret relays. PowerV Voltage Amplifier High Power Output The SMRT43 provides a higher VA output o the voltage chael at the lower critical test voltages (from 30 to 150 Volts). Users, who wat to test a pael of relays at oe time, or certai older electromechaical impedace relays, fid it impossible usig lower VA rated voltage. Figure 2 STVI with SMRT uit The most sigificat feature of the RTMS software is its ability to provide the user with a very simple way to maually test, for both commissioig ad maiteace, from the simple overcurret relay to the most complex relays maufactured today. Maual operatio is simplified through the use of a built-i computer operatig system ad the touch scree. The STVI cotroller ad RTMS software elimiates the eed for a computer whe testig virtually all types of relays. Ehaced graphics, ituitive meu screes, ad touch scree ico buttos are provided to quickly ad easily select the desired test fuctio. STVI Iteral memory Provides storage of test set-up screes ad test reports, which reduces testig time ad paper work. Steady-State ad Dyamic test capability The SMRT43 provides, either through maual cotrol or computer cotrol, both steady-state ad dyamic testig of protective relays. This icludes programmable waveforms with dc offset ad harmoics. Digital iputs ad outputs 10 programmable iputs, ad 6 programmable outputs provide timig ad logic operatios i realtime with the output voltage ad currets. Biary Iputs ca be programmed, usig Boolea logic, for more complex power system simulatios. This provides a low cost, closed loop, power system simulator. Circuit breaker simulator Biary outputs provide programmable ormally closed ad ormally ope cotacts to simulate circuit breaker operatio for testig reclosig relays. Sequece of operatio, timig, ad lockout are easily tested. Performs trasiet tests The SMRT43 ca perform acceptace or troubleshootig tests by replayig digitally recorded faults, or EMTP/ATP simulatios, i the IEEE- C37.111, COMTRADE Stadard format. Perform Ed-to-Ed tests Usig AVTS software Dyamic Cotrol, or the RTMS Sequecer Test; with a portable GPS satellite receiver (or suitable IRIG-B time code source iput ito Biary Iput #1), the SMRT43 performs satellite-sychroized ed-to-ed tests. Perform Multi-Phase Tests The SMRT43 ca be itercoected with the SMRT1 sigle phase uit (or other SMRT uits) to icrease the total umber of test currets for testig multi-phase bus differetial protectio schemes. For example, a 3 chael SMRT43 may be itercoected with 2 SMRT46 uits, providig up to a maximum of 15 curret chaels. A maximum of 30 currets are permitted with RTMS software. Three Etheret ports PC/61850 Etheret Port is the primary PC coectio port. The Etheret port provides a high-speed computer iterface, ad may be used to coect to the IEC substatio bus. The OUT Etheret Port is primarily used to itercoect multiple SMRT uits together for sychroous multi-uit operatio. The STVI PoE (Power over Etheret) port ad is used to coect to 3

The DFR Waveform Viewer ad Playback tools are used for viewig ad aalyzig IEEE C COMTRADE Stadard files from digital fault recorders ad microprocessor based relays. The DFR Waveform Viewer icludes tools to recreate the aalog ad digital chaels for playback ito protective relays for troubleshootig or evaluatio. It icludes the capability to exted the prefault data as well as start the timer associated with the evet to time relay operatio. These playback test files ca also be used i ed-to-ed tests to recreate the trasiet evet ad evaluate the protectio scheme. Test files created i Professioal ca be used with Advaced Test ad Basic. Also icluded is the Oe-Touch Test Editor Cotrol Tool for fully automatic testig of microprocessor based relays usig VB script files to automatically dowload relay settigs, ad automatically test all the measurig elemets withi the relay based upo those settigs. The Waveform Digitizer feature is also icluded i the Professioal Test versio of AVTS. It provides tools to create digital time curves for virtually ay electromechaical relay time curve (that do ot fit a time curve algorithm). It ca eve be used for digitizig scaed waveforms from a light-beam chart recorder. Software comes with a USB software licese key to ru o ay PC. Test files created i Professioal Test ca be used with ay PC ruig AVTS Basic without a software licese key. IEC Megger GOOSE Cofigurator Software (See Table for s) The Megger GOOSE Cofigurator (MGC) provides easy to use tools for testig relays ad substatios usig the IEC protocol. It is a optioal software tool available with Basic, Advaced or Professioal versios of AVTS Software; see Descriptios of Software Optios above. The Cofigurator provides relay test egieers ad techicias the capability to import parameters from cofiguratio files i the Substatio Cofiguratio Laguage (SCL) format, ad/ or capture GOOSE messages directly from the substatio bus. All imported SCL GOOSE messages will be ucofirmed messages. Oly captured messages are cofirmed messages due to the Capture feature of the MGC. Use the MGC Merge feature to compare imported SCL ad captured GOOSE messages to verify all GOOSE messages eeded to perform tests. Use them to cofigure the SMRT to subscribe to preselected GOOSE messages by assigig the data attributes to the appropriate biary iputs of the SMRT. Use the cofigurator to assig the appropriate biary outputs of the SMRT to publish GOOSE messages simulatig circuit breaker status. After the appropriate assigmets of biary iputs ad outputs have bee made, the test file ca be saved for reuse. This provides both maual ad automatic testig of the relay usig either the STVI or AVTS software. Use stadard test modules i AVTS to perform automatic tests. Use the Dyamic Cotrol i AVTS Advaced or Professioal to perform high speed trip ad reclose tests, or use to perform iteroperability high-speed shared I/O tests betwee multiple IED s. The MGC provides mappigs of Boolea ad Bit Strigs ad/or simulatio of STRuct, Iteger/Usiged, Float ad UTC datasets. 8
