3 Product positioning The BladeCenter T is a compact (20-inch deep), eight-server blade chassis designed for high-density server installations for telecommunications use. This chassis with ac or dc power supplies is a low-cost, high performance, high-availability solution for telecommunications networks and other rugged environments. The BladeCenter T chassis is positioned for expansion, capacity, redundancy, and carrier-grade NEBS level 3/ETSI compliance in dc models. The BladeCenter T offers high levels of performance when using the two-way blades or the four-way blades. It is a cost-effective, scalable solution to satisfy most telecommunications environments. BladeCenter T 1300W dc Power Supply Module (32R0833) This power supply option contains a set of two hot-swap 1300 W, -48 to -60 V dc power supplies to provide both power and redundancy to your BladeCenter T. It supports four power modules. Two 1300 W hot-swap, redundant power modules are standard. They support the population of BladeCenter T blade servers in bays 1 through 4, switch modules 1 and 2, both management modules, and the media tray. Two additional 1300 W power supply module are required to support installation of blade servers in bays 5 through 8 and switch module bays 3 and 4. Features and benefits: This option can help protect service provider data from power disruptions that cause downtime and reduced availability. Two standard 4-lug dc terminals are on the rear of the BladeCenter T chassis for you to attach dc power. One M6 lug is provided for -48 V dc, one M6 lug for return, and two M6 lugs for connecting the safety ground wire. The client must supply the dc power cable. The recommended wire is 4 AWG, minimum strand count. BladeCenter T 1300 W ac Power Supply Module (32R0834) This power supply option contains a set of two hot-swap 1300 W, 200 to 240 V ac power supplies to provide both power and redundancy to the BladeCenter T. Two 2.8-m (9-ft) IEC309 C19 to C20 rack cables are included for attachment to a supported 200 to 240 V power distribution unit (PDU). BladeCenter T supports four power modules. Two 1300 W hot-swap, redundant power modules are standard. They support the population of BladeCenter T bays 1 through 4. This 1300 W power supply module is required to support installation of blade servers in BladeCenter T bays 5 through 8. Features and benefits: This option can help protect service provider data from power disruptions that cause downtime and reduced availability. The power supplies have a single IEC 309 C19 input (16 amp). This option includes two 2.8-m (9-ft) C19 to C20 cables, making it easy to attach the power supplies to a DPI high-density PDU or a DPI front-end PDU. BladeCenter T Advanced KVM/Management Module (32R0835) The optional module gives the BladeCenter T even higher levels of resiliency. The BladeCenter T chassis comes standard with one KVM/Management module. While in the chassis, the second module is in passive or standby mode. If the active or primary module faults, the second module is automatically enabled with all the configuration settings of the primary module. This function delivers easy remote management and connectivity to the BladeCenter T chassis for their most critical applications. Features and benefits: Supports higher levels of resiliency Helps support high availability and efficiency Two Post Rack Mount Kit (32R0836) This mounting kit is specially designed to support the BladeCenter T chassis in 84-inch (42U) tall two-post racks, typically deployed in the telecommunications infrastructure. Four Post Rack Mount Kit (32R0837) This mounting kit is specially designed to support the BladeCenter T chassis in four-post rack environment typically deployed in telecommunications infrastructure. BladeCenter T, with a 20-inch deep chassis, requires different mounting rails and support frames than those deployed to support the BladeCenter chassis or rack enterprise rack-mount servers in data centers with four posts. Features and benefits: Configuration flexibility Minimize investment in rack infrastructure McData EFCM Element Manager for BladeCenter (32R1799) McDATA EFCM Element Manager for BladeCenter offers client full fabric and switch management of McDATA blade switch modules via McDATA EFCM Management application software V8.8. Security, auditability, and control Security and auditability features for BladeCenter T includes: Power-on and privileged-access password functions provide controls of who has access to the data and server setup program on the server. Set unattended boot mode allows the system keyboard to be locked to all entries except the password and at the same time allows other computers on the network to access the system disk drive. Selectable boot sequence can be used to prevent unauthorized installation of software or removal of data from the diskette drive. The chassis and servers are intended to be installed and secured in a rack. It is a customer s responsibility to ensure that server and rack installation are secure to prevent sensitive data from being removed. The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communications facilities. IBM Electronic Services IBM has transformed its delivery of hardware and software support services to put you on the road to higher systems availability. Electronic Services is a Web-enabled solution that provides an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support on the IBM eserver. You should benefit from greater system availability due to faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. Electronic Services comprises two separate, but complementary, elements: IBM Electronic Services news page and IBM Electronic Service Agent. Electronic Services news page is a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used to access IBM Internet services and support. The news page enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems. The Electronic Service Agent is a no-additional-charge software that resides on your IBM eserver system. It monitors events and transmits system inventory information to IBM on a periodic, customer-defined timetable. The Electronic Service Agent tracks system inventory, hardware error logs, and performance information. If the server is under a current IBM maintenance service agreement or within the IBM warranty period, the Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to provide proactive service that maintains higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent is made available to IBM service support representatives when they help answer your questions or diagnose problems. To learn how Electronic Services can work for you, visit IBM Global Financing: Yes Terms and conditions To obtain copies of the IBM Statement of Limited Warranty, contact your reseller or IBM.
