This step is required only for upgrdes from Anlytics Upgrde the DAC metdt to the ltest Anlytics formt y merging your current DAC metdt repository with the new version received from Sieel Systems. In the DAC, set up dtse connections for the current nd new repositories y nvigting to Setup > Dtse Connections nd entering the following informtion: Field Logicl Nme Type Connection Type Dynmiclly chnges sed on Connection Type Enter A logicl nme for the connection. DAC Repository. Type of dtse connection. If you re using one of the following: Orcle (OCI8), enter the TNS nme. Orcle (Thin), enter the instnce nme. SQL Server, enter the dtse nme. DB2-UDB, enter the connect string s defined in the DB2 configurtion. Tle Owner Tle Owner Pssword Mx Num Connections DB Host Port Nme of the tle owner. Pssword for the tle owner. The mximum numer of connections to the dtse tht the DAC server mintins. Host mchine where the dtse resides. Required for Orcle (Thin) nd MSSQL dtses. In the Compre nd Merge Repositories dilog ox, select the source (current) nd trget (new) repositories tht you wnt to compre. To import from the source repository into the trget the ojects tht re missing, select the Import Missing Ojects check ox. NOTE: Modifictions mde to ojects in the source repository must e entered mnully in the trget repository. The Difference report is utomticlly creted. To upgrde the Sieel Dt Wrehouse Schem 1 From the DAC menu r, choose Tools > ETL Mngement > Configure. 2 In the Sources dilog ox, select the dtse pltform for the trget dt wrehouse, source trnsctionl dtse, nd the Informtic repository. The Dt Wrehouse Configurtion Wizrd opens. 3 Select the Crete Sieel Dt Wrehouse Tles check ox, nd click Next. The Dt Wrehouse t is ctive. 4 Enter the following informtion. Field Dtse Type Description Type of dtse. If the dtse type is DB2 390, then select the 390 Dtse check ox. Tle Owner Pssword ODBC Dt Source Dt Are Index Are Is Unicode Vlid dtse user. 31 Upgrding Sieel Business Anlytics Applictions Process of Upgrding the Anlytics Repository To trim the Anlytics repositories 1 Copy the three repositories in the directory \SieelAnlyticsUpgrde\Originl into the \SieelAnlyticsUpgrde\AfterTrim folder. 2 Delete from the three repositories ll the presenttion ctlogs tht hve een identified s not in use. For exmple, if you re using Sieel Business Applictions nd not Sieel Industry Applictions, delete ll the Presenttion Ctlogs eginning with Phrm. 3 Using the Query Repository Utility, identify the usiness models tht re no longer in use or will not e used fter the upgrde, nd delete them in ll three repositories: c d In the Anlytics Server Administrtion Tool, nvigte to Tools > Query Repository. In the Nme field, enter the sterisk (*) wildcrd chrcter. In the Type field, enter Business Model. Click the Filter utton: In the Item drop-down list, select Relted to. In the Opertor column, select <>. Click the Ellipsis utton, nd then select Set Condition for Presenttion Ctlog. e Click OK. Click the Query utton. A list of the usiness models tht hve no relted presenttion ctlogs ppers in the window. f g Select the usiness model you wnt to delete, nd then click Delete. Click Yes to confirm you wnt to delete the oject. 4 Identify the dtses tht re not in use nd tht will not e used fter the upgrde, nd delete them in the three repositories. CAUTION: Do not delete the Sieel trnsctionl dtse (OLTP) in the physicl lyer, ecuse it is used y the uthoriztion initiliztion locks. 5 Identify the initiliztion locks tht do not hve connection pools, nd delete them in ll three repositories. At the end of this process, the three repositories in the \SieelAnlyticsUpgrde\AfterTrim folder re significntly smller in size thn in the previous stge if the process runs correctly. For the lgorithm to work correctly, it hs to determine which ojects in the three repositories (SieelAnlytics_7x.rpd, SieelAnlytics_78x.rpd, nd Customer_SieelAnlytics.rpd) re equivlent. Equivlence etween ojects is estlished y running the equlizerpds executle (equlizerpds.exe) in the \SieelAnlytics\Bin folder. The equlizerpds executle file hs severl mechnisms for determining whether n oject in two different repositories is semnticlly the sme: Fully Qulified Nme. If n oject in one repository hs the sme fully qulified nme s nother oject of the sme clss in nother repository, then the two ojects re declred equl. Simple String Sustitution. Equivlence cn e declred etween two ojects of the sme clss in two repositories whose only difference is tht some key chrcters in their nmes differ. The equlizerpds executle file ignores those chrcters while checking fully qulified nmes. For exmple, "Core"."W_DAY_D" might e considered equivlent to "Core"."W DAY D" if the chrcters "_" nd " " hve een declred s equivlent. Renme File. When none of the preceding rules re pplicle, equivlence cn e mnully declred using script s input to the equlizerpds executle file. Sieel Systems ships the renme files (MAP) for the most common upgrde pths. You must lso crete your own renme files for customiztions not covered in the files tht Sieel Systems ships. You cn open nd edit the renme files in Microsoft Excel. To merge versions of the Anlytics repositories 1 Open the repository from the ltest instlltion (for exmple, SieelAnlytics_78x.rpd) in the \SieelAnlyticsUpgrde\AfterEqulize directory. 2 Sve the repository with new nme, for exmple, Merged_Repository_SieelAnlytics_78x.rpd. When ll rows hve vlue in the Decision field, the Merge utton is enled. 11 Click Merge. A messge ppers indicting tht the merge is complete. 12 Sve the repository. Fixing Anlytics Repository Merge Errors This tsk is step in the Process of Upgrding the Anlytics Repository. Mny consistency errors nd wrnings might result from merging different versions of Sieel Business Anlytics repositories. Correct these errors mnully. After you correct the errors, sve the repository, nd copy it to the directory \SieelAnlyticsUpgrde\AfterRegressions. Regression Testing the Anlytics Repository Merge This tsk is step in the Process of Upgrding the Anlytics Repository. In performing regression test for the Sieel Business Anlytics repository merge, the ojective is to collect set of logicl SQL sttements tht re used for reports nd to verify tht they continue to work with the new metdt. For this purpose, it is recommended tht you perform the following procedure. To perform regression testing 1 Run the reports tht re necessry to include in the regression suite. These reports might e suset of the reports in the Anlytics We ctlog. 2 Collect the logicl SQL generted in the previous step.
