1 Simrd ES80 Softwre Relese Introduction This document descries the chnges introduced with the new softwre version. Product: ES80 Softwre version: This softwre controls ll functionlity in the Simrd ES80 Widend fish finding echo sounder. This includes trnsmission nd reception, interfces with externl peripherls nd sensors, nd ll user interfce. Softwre chnges This softwre updte solves numer of softwre ugs tht hve een reported y our users, or detected during our own product testing. New functionlity is lso introduced. The following specific chnges hve een mde: Bug fixes Bug in drwing of echogrm type Trwl A ug reported in the echogrm drwing when echogrm type is selected s Trwl hs een fixed. Redefined defult tlker ID for ITI-FS input Defult tlker ID for ITI-FS input hs een redefined to "II". Softwre crsh oserved with mny nnottions Removed error occurring when creting nnottion utomticlly over long time. New functionlity Improved multi-screen support New disply orgniztion with improved support for customizing views nd multiple disply hs een dded. Any echogrm view my e moved y clicking the title r of the view nd drg. The echogrm views my e drgged outside of the ES80 ppliction frme nd into secondry disply or repositioned inside the ES80 ppliction frme. Select Docking View in the Disply menu to ctivte this functionry. Use the docking guide icons to select where to reposition the view. Additionl echogrm views my e dded y selecting the Add Windows utton under Docking View, in the Disply menu. Use the Add Window dilog to select which chnnel to present in the new echogrm view. Select the title r of the new view nd drg it to the desired position. The configured lyout is stored nd memorized for ech t in the ottom r. Select the Reset Lyout utton, under Docking View, in the Disply menu to get ck to the defult lyout. Secure downlod of softwre to WBT Trnsceiver Softwre downlod is inhiited if severl echo sounder progrms re in use on the sme network. A popup messge will show this informtion nd list the IP ddresses of the progrms tht needs to e shut down, efore trnsceiver Softwre downlod my e completed. Added support for NMEA THS dtgrm Support for the NMEA THS dtgrm hs een dded. Added Fish length unit

2 Fish length is now ville in inches. Dt output for Olex plotter Output option to provide dt for Olex plotter hs een dded. Setting up dt export to Olex, pge 5 Defining the IP ddress on the Processor Unit network dpter for output to Olex, pge 5 Support for ES120 With this ES80 version it is possile to instll the ES120 Trnsducer. Requirement to hve Wide Bnd Trnsceiver (WBT) instlled hs een removed From this version ES80 cn e used with Generl Purpose Trnsceiver (GPT) without ny Wide Bnd Trnsceiver (WBT) connected. Enled temperture redouts in the top r ES80 now supports MTW dtgrm to enle the temperture redouts in the top r. By defult, the mnul temperture input is shown. Select Temperture on the Sensor Configurtion pge to turn mnul temperture ON or OFF. Use the Environment dilog ox or the Sensor Configurtion pge, to set the mnul temperture vlue. Do I need to upgrde? This is n importnt updte. The introduction of new functionlity nd improvement in the existing functionlity will dd vlue to your instlltion. We recommend tht ll users updte their softwre. Known issues Certin softwre issues relted to the Simrd ES80 re known. Issues in the ES80 softwre will e corrected in future upgrdes. End user documenttion End user documenttion hs not een updted with this relese. Context sensitive on-line help The first time you try to serch for informtion in the on-line help, it tkes long time to strt. This is operting system issue. The ppliction used to open nd present the online help tkes this time to uild the serch index. Lnguge This informtion is vlid if you prefer to use the ES80 with nother menu lnguge thn English. When you strt the ES80 smll dilog ox llows you to strt with the current settings. Most users will click to strt the progrm insted of witing for the dilog ox to close y itself. If you wit for the dilog ox to close y itself, nd you use different user interfce lnguge thn English, you my see mix of oth lnguges in the ES80 presenttion. To fix this, switch to English, nd then ck to your own lnguge gin. To fix this issue permnently, we recommend tht you updte the.net operting system file. Updting the ".net" system file, pge 3

The current Quick Strt Guide, Opertor Mnul nd Reference Mnul re included on the ES80 softwre medi (USB flsh drive). End user documenttion cn lso e downloded from the product wesite The ES80 Reference Mnul is included with the ES80 softwre s context sensitive on-line help. Softwre licenses The ES80 needs one or more softwre licenses to work. Ech softwre license code "unlocks" one Widend Trnsceiver (WBT) for opertionl use with set of predefined properties. You do not need to otin ny new license string(s) when you updte from previous version of licensed ES80. In order to otin softwre license you must contct Simrd deler or distriutor. You cn lso use the request form on or contct our support deprtment directly. Tip Once you receive your softwre license string(s), do not lose them. We suggest tht you copy the informtion into text file (for exmple pd), nd dd relevnt informtion. Plce the text file on the Processor Unit desktop, nd mke sure tht ckup copies re mde. Softwre instlltion When new ES80 softwre version is relesed, it must e instlled on your Processor Unit. A dedicted instlltion wizrd is used. You need dministrtive rights on your Processor Unit to do the softwre instlltion. Instlltion of dditionl operting system components my e required. These re instlled utomticlly. Oserve the informtion offered in the wizrd. If you hve preliminry ("Bet") softwre version instlled, it must e removed efore you cn updte. Use the operting system functionlity to remove the old softwre version. A softwre updte for the Wide Bnd Trnsceiver (WBT) is included with this ES80 relese. Wide Bnd Trnsceiver (WBT) Softwre version: 2.20 The new softwre version must e instlled on the WBT. For more informtion, refer to the context sensitive on-line help. Oserve the softwre version in your Wide Bnd Trnsceiver (WBT). If your current softwre version is version 1.0 or older, the unit needs fctory upgrde. Contct our support deprtment for dvice. Registered delers nd distriutors cn downlod the new softwre version from the "Simrd Deler Clu". To ccess the "Simrd Deler Clu", visit our wesite. Updting the ".net" system file The lnguge mixture descried under "Known issues" cn esily e fixed permnently if you upgrde the.net operting system file. We recommend tht you do this to prepre your Processor Unit for future softwre updtes. You my do this efore you upgrde the echo sounder softwre.

4 Procedure 1 Downlod this file dotnet4_6_2_instll.zip from the Simrd Deler Clu. 2 Unzip its content, nd copy everything to USB flsh disk. 3 Insert the USB into your Processor Unit. 4 Open file mnger, nd locte the folder dotnet4.6.2_instll. If you hve 64-it operting system (NISE3600) computers, doule-click netfx_full_x64.msi. If you hve 32-it operting system (NISE3110) computers, doule-click netfx_full_x32.msi. Do not use the setup.exe file to strt the instlltion. If you do not know wht type of computer you hve, or you do not know if it hs 32- or 64-it operting system, select Strt Control Pnel System nd oserve System type. 5 Follow the on-screen instructions. 6 When the instlltion hs completed, restrt the Processor Unit. Further requirements You cn now instll the ES80 softwre. Minimum computer requirements Unless specificlly ordered from Kongserg Mritime, the ES80 is not provided with computer. This item must e purchsed loclly. If you purchse computer loclly, mke sure tht the chosen model meets the functionl nd technicl requirements. In the CE-HW-03 computer the Ethernet1 is dedicted for Wide Bnd Trnsceier (WBT) units. It is importnt to mke sure tht the chosen computer model is reltively new with sufficient processing power, high performnce grphic dpter, nd high speed network dpter. The computer must e le to fcilitte the vrious interfce requirements mde y the ES80, nd you my need to dd extr Ethernet nd seril dpters. The computer design nd construction must llow for mritime use, esy ccess to connectors, prts nd cles, nd sfe instlltion. A lptop computer my e used s long s it meets the functionl nd technicl requirements. The minimum technicl requirements re: Processor: Intel I7 (or etter) An equivlent type from nother mnufcturer cn lso e used. Memory: minimum cpcity 4 GB Hrd disk If you wish to record lrge mounts of ES80 dt, mke sure tht you hve enough spce on your hrd disk. Unless your Processor Unit is equipped with very lrge disk, we recommend tht you sve the dt to n externl storge device. Grphic dpter Minimum resolution (pixels): 1280 x 1024 Recommended resolution (pixels): 1920 x 1200 The grphic dpter must support DirectX9.0c, nd must e comptile with Direct3d nd OpenGL. Minimum ndwidth: 1 G/s. A lrge numer of commercil grphic dpters re ville, nd we hve not tested ll of them. Even dpters tht meet the minimum specifictions my fil with the ES80 softwre.

5 We welcome ny feedck with comments or experiences with grphic dpters. Ethernet dpter Type: Intel (or etter) Minimum ndwidth: 1 G/s To communicte with the Widend Trnsceiver (WBT), high qulity Ethernet dpter is required. Two dpters re required if the Processor Unit shll lso e connected to locl re network (LAN). The Ethernet dpter communicting with the Widend Trnsceiver (WBT) must offer Receive Buffers function. This prmeter must e set to its mximum vlue if more thn one Widend Trnsceiver (WBT) is used. Seril interfces The numer of seril lines depends on the interfce requirements. If you hve connected USB-to-seril dpter to the Processor Unit, do not remove it while the ES80 is running. Do not move the dpter to different USB socket on the Processor Unit. Operting system The ES80 softwre hs een designed for Windows 10 (64-it). It will lso work on 32-it systems. Windows 7 is lso supported. Operting systems older thn Windows 7 re not supported. Defining the IP ddress on the Processor Unit network dpter for output to Olex The communiction etween the Processor Unit nd the Olex is mde using Ethernet connection. You must define which IP Address nd Sunet msk the Ethernet dpter in the Processor Unit shll use for this communiction. It is esier to define the ports if the Ethernet cle is connected. Prerequisites This procedure is mde for the Microsoft Windows 10 operting system. It is ssumed tht you re fmilir with this operting system. Context In the CE-HW-03 Processor Unit the Ethernet 1 is dedicted for Wide Bnd Trnsceiver (WBT) units. Procedure 1 Close ll the progrms tht re running on the Processor Unit. 2 Open the Network Connections dilog ox. c d e f g In the ottom-left corner of your desktop, select the Windows Strt utton. On the menu, select Settings. Oserve tht the Settings dilog ox opens. Select Network nd Internet. At the ottom of the dilog ox, select Chnge dpter options. Select the network dpter you re going to use; then right-click nd select Properties on the short-cut menu. On the list of connections, select Internet Protocol 4 (TCP/IPv4), nd then Properties. 3 Select Use the following IP ddress, nd type the IP ddress nd network msk. IP Address: Sunet msk: Select OK to sve the chosen settings, then close ll the dilog oxes. Setting up dt export to Olex The ES80 llows you to export dt to the proprietry Olex system. The output prmeters

6 for the dt export re defined in the Output dilog ox. Prerequisites This procedure ssumes tht: The Ethernet dpter in the Processor Unit is set up with unique IP ddress. The Olex computer is connected to the Processor Unit. Procedure 1 Select Opertion, nd set it to Inctive. 2 On the Setup menu, select Instlltion. 3 On the left side of the Instlltion dilog ox, select I/O Setup. 4 Set up the Ethernet (LAN) port communiction prmeters. c d Select Add in the LAN Ports setup On the I/O Setup pge, select the port you wish to set up. Select Setup elow the list to open the LAN Port Setup dilog ox. Set up the relevnt communiction prmeters. Nme: Olex Locl IP Address: Locl Port: 2020 Remote IP Address: Remote Port: 2020 e f Select Apply. Select OK to sve the chosen settings nd close the dilog ox. 5 Select Opertion, nd set it to Norml. 6 Open the Setup menu. 7 Select Output. Oserve tht the Output dilog ox opens. This dilog ox contins numer of pges selected y the menu on the left side. 8 On the left side of the Output dilog ox, select Olex Output. 9 On the Olex Output pge, setup the port prmeters. c d Select the communiction port. Select Add Select Apply. Select OK to sve the chosen settings nd close the dilog ox. Olex system only ccept informtion from CW trnsmissions. If you ttempt to export dt from LFM chnnel it will respond with n error messge..
