Required files fr etext prductin High-reslutin press PDFs (see etext_pdf Guidelines) If the parent print title has been prduced using ETMv2 r XID cmpsitin mark up, the LOGS and XML-EBOOK-PLUS flders prduced by the File QA prcess. Cver, thumbnail, and navigatin bar art (see etext_art Assets Guidelines) A cpy f the autmated respnse frm the nline etext cnversin request, saved as a plain text file r as an RTF file Depending n the title, yu may als need t submit: Custm Glssary spreadsheet Custm Basket spreadsheet Custm Htspt spreadsheet Custm Auditext spreadsheet 2. Uplad files using the fllwing directry structure: 1. Fr Higher Ed and Internatinal titles, create a new flder with the crrespnding etext 10- digit ISBN and the primary authr s last name, separated by an underscre, fr example _Chaissn. Fr Schls etexts, the flder name shuld be an identifiable abbreviatin f the title s authr/title/subject/grade level. D NOT use spaces r special characters in the filename, and the entire flder name must nt exceed 20 characters 2. Inside this parent flder create the fllwing subflders: inf ingest assets pdf hi-res-pdf surce_files 3. Place the fllwing ther files in the inf flder: A high-reslutin, full-size PDF f the text cver image. A cpy f the autmated respnse frm the nline etext File Cnversin Request frm submissin, saved as a plain text (.TXT) r (.RTF) file. 4. Place the cver, thumbnail and navigatinbar images (see etext Art Assets Guidelines) in the assets flder. If an ipad versin f etext will als be created, include a rasterized PDF that s crpped t shw nly the frnt cver. 5. Place the Custm Glssary, Custm Basket, Custm Htspts, and/r the Custm Auditext spreadsheet(s), if required, in the assets flder. Page 3

4 etext File Submissin Guidelines 6. Place the high-reslutin print PDFs in the hi-res-pdf flder. 7. If the parent print title has been cmpsed with ETMv2 r XID, place the XML-EBOOK-PLUS flder and the LOGS flder frm the FQA prcess in surce files flder. 8. Pre-pend the parent flder name t the LOGS and XML-EBOOK-PLUS flders. Belw is a screensht shwing the flder structure and file rganizatin f a title fr which the XML-EBOOK-PLUS flder is available: 3. What if the XML-EBOOK-PLUS flder is missing? This sectin nly applies if the title was cmpsed using ETMv2 r XID mark up. If the cmpleted bk was submitted by the vendr t Pearsn in July 2009 r later and the XML- EBOOK-PLUS flder is missing, the vendr may nt be fllwing prper File QA prcedure. In this event, the vendr must be asked t explain why the XML-EBOOK-PLUS flder was nt prduced. A missing XML-EBOOK-PLUS flder indicates either a prblem with vendr cmpliance r an issue with File QA, either f which needs t be addressed. Cmpleted bks submitted by the vendr t Pearsn prir t July 2009 did nt require prductin f the XML-EBOOK-PLUS flder. If the bk was submitted prir t July 2009, submit the fllwing files instead f the XML-EBOOK-PLUS flder: Final paged QuarkXPress files Page 4

5 etext File Submissin Guidelines Fnts (review the tips at befre prviding fnts) Final Hi-Res pdfs These files will be prcessed by Karen Stephens f the Cntent Management Services team t prduce the prper XML-EBOOK-PLUS flder. If she encunters issues with the files that she cannt reslve, Karen will cntact the CMS Prject Manager, wh in turn will advise the Business Unit. The Business Unit will cntact the Cmpsitr. Refer t the fllwing example fr the flder structure and file rganizatin f a title that was cmpsed with ETMv2, fr which the XML-EBOOK-PLUS flder is nt available: Please nte that any submissins which are nt frmatted r upladed accrding t the instructins abve will nt be prcessed, will delay delivery f the etext and will incur additinal csts. 4. What if the bk was prduced withut ETM r XID? Smetimes a bk may nt have been prduced using ETM r XID, especially if it was prduced with Adbe InDesign, FrameMaker, r LaTex. Smetimes a bk prduced with Quark XPress may nt have used ETM tagging during cmpsitin, fr whatever reasn. If the cmpleted bk was prduced using Quark and was nt tagged with ETM r using InDesign withut XID, a Custm Table f Cntents spreadsheet will be required, as well as any ther spreadsheets (htspts, glssary, basket, auditext) that may be needed t prduce the etext. If the business unit is unable t prvide a Table f Cntents spreadsheet, the prductin vendr will create ne at additinal cst. As described in Sectin 1 abve, a full set f high-reslutin Page 5

Uplad the files as described in Sectin 2 abve. The surce_files flder can be eliminated because it isn t needed. 5. Uplading file(s) fr prductin Uplad the flder cntaining the required file(s) t the fllwing etext Cntent Manager FTP lcatin using Secure File Transfer Prtcl (SFTP): sftp://ftp.ebkcm.pearsncmg.cm//hme/ebkcmftp_prd/uplad/ int the custm, curriculum, highered, r internatinal subdirectry, as apprpriate. Yu must use an FTP applicatin that supprts SFTP. Cntact yur CMS Prject Manager fr yur individual access credentials. 6. Uplading file(s) fr reprcessing during prductin If any files are fund t be crrupt r t have ther issues during prductin f an etext, the CMS Prject Manager will request replacement PDFs r ther files. An will be sent listing the PDF filename, issue fund, and instructins n where t pst the new file r files. Files must be rganized in the same methd described earlier in this file submissin guidelines dcument, and upladed using the infrmatin in the preceding sectins.
