1 Import MP4 question Posted by Saskiano - 31 May :22 I am new to video editing - a pro still shooter with a lot of web design work as well. I am trying to edit an MP4 video file. The Frame Rate is I realize I need to convert this to edit in Lightworks. I installed EyeFrame Converter, but the selection of conversion choices is a bit daunting. The default (LW FREE MJPEG HD + Embed TC & RN - Proxy Quarter Size) doesn't work. What's the basic idea in using this tool to import MP4's into Lightworks? I am trying to edit MP4's that are bound for Powerpoint presentations. Please excuse my lack of seeing the obvious... FWIW, all of these files can be imported into Premiere Pro without incident. Hi Saskiano, Please can you click the cogs icon on the import tool and select Retry media analysis. Do your files all then appear correctly and import? If you can send a small sample MOV, AVI and MP4 to: editshare.wetransfer.com/ we can take a look at what might be going wrong. Posted by Saskiano - 14 Jun :06 Tried this - Lightworks will not analyse ANY video files, regardless of format, but does correctly read the frame rates of these files and show in red the ones incompatible with the current project. I downloaded a tiny sample MP4 off the Web, and got the same result: Lightworks will not analyse it! I've added this small MP4 here as an attachment. The sample imports correctly here without problem. Looking at your error log I can see you are running Windows XP 64bit which is not supported. This may explain the error you are receiving. Because I'm getting the same error -- unable to import MP4 files, with the message "Import Error (unable to create movie (exists already?))" I'm running the 32-bit version of Lightworks on Windows bit (had to use the 32-bit version, as the 64-bit version simply refused to launch, as discussed here ). Posted by leorebetez - 19 Nov :15 Hi all, I had the same import problem as Saskiano and after trying a little bit, I did change the transcoding options in my import window. I put MOV instead of MXF and then it was ok. I really don't know why it was so because I'm quite new by video editing, but if it can help you, I would be happy. Peace! Léo 6 / 8

Posted by jwrl - 02 Aug :24 That error message means exactly what it says: your project frame rate doesn't match your video frame rate. Try setting up a 24 fps project and importing to that.
