2 Your Profile in Aurora Click on the Profile tab to see a summary of your details, and other useful information. The following information is automatically shown in your profile: Your name Your faculty and school Your address You can view this information and enter additional information using the steps listed in this document. The data on your profile is also available to other users of Aurora. Viewing and Editing your Profile Information 1. Select the Profile tab from the Home Page. You will see a summary of your details and other useful information, which is ready for you to add/edit. 2
3 Adding a Profile Photo 2. To add a photo to your profile, select Manage Photo. 3. Select Browse and locate the image. Then click Upload. Please Note: Acceptable formats: JPG, PNG, GIF. The photo should have minimum dimensions of 500px by 500px. Don t be concerned if your photo appears stretched in Aurora. Your photo will be displayed with larger dimensions on your Researcher Profile. If you require assistance, please contact us via aurora@adelaide.edu.au. 4. The photo will then display on your profile. To remove or change the photo, select Manage photo. 3
4 Adding Contact Details Aurora allows you to add addresses and phone numbers to your profile. You can add this information using the plus icon. Adding a phone number: 1. Click Add a phone number. 2. Use the drop down box to select the type of phone number (e.g. work, mobile etc.). Enter the number and select the green tick to save. 3. Once you have added a phone number, you can edit it by clicking the orange pencil icon. 4. After you have edited the number, click one of the following icons: Delete the phone number Cancel the Hide phone number from profile Save the 4
5 Adding an additional address: Please note: This is in addition to your University of Adelaide address (e.g. which is automatically included on your profile. 1. Click Add an address. 2. Use the drop down box to select the type of (e.g. personal, work etc.). Enter the address and select the green tick to save. 3. Once you have added an address, you can edit it by clicking the orange pencil icon. 4. After you have edited the address, click one of the following icons: Delete the address Cancel the Hide address from profile Save the 5
6 Adding an Overview Aurora allows you to add an overview or biography. 1. To add an overview, click on the orange pencil icon. 2. Add overview information and select the green tick to save. 3. If you would like to make to the appointment you have added, you can edit the information by selecting show more. 4. Click the orange pencil at the end of the text to edit the overview. 6
7 Adding Experience Aurora allows you to add information about your previous and current appointments. You can add this information using the plus icon for each of these categories. Adding an Academic Appointment: 1. Click Add an academic appointment. 2. Fill in the relevant information and click the green tick icon to save. Please Note: Mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk. 3. If you would like to make to the appointment you have added, you can edit the information by clicking the orange pencil icon. 7
8 4. This will allow you to make to the text. You can then select one of the following icons: Delete the appointment Cancel the Hide appointment from profile Save the Adding a Non-Academic Appointment: 1. Click Add a non-academic appointment. 2. Fill in the relevant information and click the green tick icon to save. Please Note: Mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk. 8
9 5. If you would like to make to the appointment you have added, you can edit the information by clicking the orange pencil icon. 6. This will allow you to make to the text. You can then select one of the following icons: Delete the appointment Cancel the Hide appointment from profile Save the 9
10 Adding Education Information Aurora allows you to add information about your degrees, certifications and postgraduate training. You can add this information using the plus icon for each of these categories. Adding a degree: 1. Click Add a degree. 2. Fill in the relevant information and click the green tick icon to save. Please Note: Mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk. 3. If you would like to make to the degree you have added, you can edit the information by clicking the orange pencil icon. 10
11 4. This will allow you to make to the text. You can then select one of the following icons: Delete the degree Cancel the Hide degree from profile Save the Adding a Certification: 1. Click Add a certification. 2. Fill in the relevant information and click the green tick icon to save. Please Note: Mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk. 11
12 3. If you would like to make to the certification you have added, you can edit the information by clicking the orange pencil icon. 4. This will allow you to make to the text. You can then select one of the following icons: Delete the certification Cancel the Hide certification from profile Save the Adding postgraduate training: 1. Click Add postgraduate training. 12
13 2. Fill in the relevant information and click the green tick icon to save. Please Note: Mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk. 3. If you would like to make to the postgraduate training you have added, you can edit the information by clicking the orange pencil icon. 4. This will allow you to make to the text. You can then select one of the following icons: Delete the postgraduate training Hide postgraduate training from profile Save the Cancel the 13
14 Adding Language Competencies Aurora allows you to add information about your language competencies. You can add this information using the plus icon. 1. Click Add a language competency. 2. Begin typing the language and then choose from the drop down menu. 3. Select the appropriate check-boxes and click the green tick icon to save. 4. If you would like to make to the language you have added, you can edit the information by clicking the orange pencil icon. 5. This will allow you to make. You can then select one of the following icons: Delete the language competency Hide the language competency from profile Save the Cancel the 14
15 Adding Addresses Aurora allows you to add your mailing and web addresses to your profile. This includes web addresses such as Google Scholar, Twitter, LinkedIn, ResearchGate, personal websites and blogs. You can add this information using the plus icon for each of these categories. Adding a mailing address: 1. Click Add a mailing address. 2. Add address and select the green tick to save. 3. If you would like to make to the address you have added, you can edit the information by clicking the orange pencil icon. 15
16 4. This will allow you to make. You can then select one of the following icons: Delete the address Hide address from profile Save the Cancel the Adding a web address: 1. Click Add a web address. 2. Select the type from the drop down menu. Guidelines for choosing the type: It is important that you choose a type when adding a web address. The type will determine where the web address will appear on your Researcher Profile Page. Please note: If a type is not selected, the web address will not appear on your Researcher Profile page. Available types: Personal Website personal websites Company company websites Blog research blogs RSS feed N/A (RSS feeds are not currently supported by Researcher Profiles) Portfolio online profiles (e.g. Scopus, dblp) Other any other web addresses 16
17 You can also choose from the following predetermined types: Twitter LinkedIn Google Scholar Research Gate figshare Mendeley To add a researcher profile web address that is not listed in the predetermined types above, select Portfolio and add a relevant label (see example below). 3. Add a Label and URL. Click the green tick icon to save. Guidelines for adding a label: It is important that you include a label when adding a web address. The label that you enter will be displayed on your Researcher Profile, so choose a label that will be meaningful to those viewing your profile (e.g. YouTube, Robinson Research Institute etc.) 4. If you would like to make to a web address, you can edit the information by clicking the orange pencil icon. 5. This will allow you to make. You can then select one of the following icons: 17
18 Delete the web address Cancel the Hide web address from profile Save the 6. Once you have added these websites, they will appear in the External profiles menu at the top left-hand side of the page. 18
19 Adding your Web of Science or ArXiv Profile Your Web of Science and ArXiv address can be added to your profile via your Search Settings using the following steps. 1. From the Home Page, click on My Search Settings. 2. Under the Source-specific search terms section, click on the Plus sign to the left of Web of Science or ArXiv to expand the view. You will see a new section of the screen which will allow you to add your Researcher Author Identifier. 3. Add your Author ID and click Save. 4. The link to your Web of Science of ArXiv profile will appear in the External profiles menu at the top left-hand side of the page. 19
20 Publications Your claimed publications in Aurora will be displayed in your profile as a graph and a list. 20
21 Marking a Publication as Invisible: By marking a publication as invisible, you prevent the publication from appearing on your profile in Aurora. It will also not be displayed on your Researcher Profile webpage. 1. To mark a publication as invisible, click on the dark blue eye icon. 2. The publication will appear greyed out, indicating that it is hidden and no longer visible on your profile. 3. To unhide the publication and make it visible on your profile, click on the dark blue icon. 21
22 Viewing your profile as others will see it in Aurora When you have finished editing the information in your profile, you can view your profile as other Aurora users will see it. Note that all of the information that appears on your profile in Aurora may be displayed externally as part of your Researcher Profile webpage. 1. Click Done editing at the top of your profile page. 2. You will then see your profile displayed as other Aurora users will see it. To edit your profile information, select Edit profile. 22
