2 Things to Know Application Priority Filing Period: October 1 st - November 30 th LATE APPLICATIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTED Website to apply is $55.00 application fee for the application Fee waivers are on the application What you do not need to apply: Personal Statement/Essay Letters of Recommendation Extra Curricular Activities

3 Apply Early! CSU Mentor is open all of October and typically crashes in the last weekend of November due to volume Students are more likely to receive application assistance if they contact us in October versus November (holiday weekend) The CSU application takes about 2-3 hours to complete in one sitting Waiting until November 30 th to apply leads to stress for students

4 Write down and remember your login. The University/Chancellor s Office does not keep a record of your username and password.

5 Use your full legal name Use the name that is on all your official government documents and academic record. Helps match up documents (including FAFSA information)

6 Use a valid address that you have regular access to The University s main form of communication is . Double check the spelling of the address you provide. Remember which address you provide. Create an address just for university applications to keep track of everything.(optional) Check your often!

7 Enter the correct major and degree objective

8 Read each question fully and ask if unclear Page 1- Credential Question Students should answer not interested in a credential program. Page 1- Entry Status Student with AP scores of 3+, community college, or university course work have college credit

9 Read fully.continued Page 1- Authorization Code Not needed for the application. Do not stress about this. Page 3- California Statewide Student ID Not needed for the application. Do not stress about this. Not asking for SSN

10 Page 5- Parent Info Must complete it entirely. Page 6- Test Information Student will need to provide either the test date with scores or the date the exam will be taken. There is only two spaces for test information but the student can send in all scores.

11 Residency If you have questions on how to fill out the application, please contact our admissions office. Page 4 of the application has nothing to do with immigration status. Question 2 asks: Do you claim California Residency? It is asking if you lived in California for the past year:

12 Enter new SAT scores in correct area Pay attention to SAT test dates Old SAT taken before March 2016 New score sections taken March 2016 and after.

13 List all A-G coursework correctly 12 th grade classes should be listed as in progress and planned on application. Non-college prep courses will not be able to be selected from the list in CSU Mentor. Use A-G Guide to verify that a class meets A-G requirements: Click on A-G Course Lists

15 Review your application before submitting

16 Pay the application fee You cannot go back and change the method of payment. Your application will not be reviewed without paying.

17 Keep/print the agreement statement with confirmation # This serves as confirmation that your application was submitted: print it out! You will also receive a confirmation to the address you provided on the application.

18 Final Tips CSU Mentor has instructions and tutorial videos for every page of the application. EOP Application can be found on CSU Mentor; it is a separate application from the campus application. CSU Mentor will send you a confirmation after your application is submitted. CSUF will send you an with CWID and Pin to set up your student portal. Once you ve completed one application, your application information (except major screen) will auto-populate if you choose to apply to another CSU.
