1 This is a guide on how to setup 2 X20's in seemless parallel expansion. My example is for a widescreen with a 256 blend using 10 ouputs@1080p. Each frame must be running the same version of software. In order to update they must both be in Master Mode(Frame ID 0). Connect to each unit and update to the same version(i will be using v4.0.1) After updating the software version to match, power them off by toggling the front panel button. Now connect the Master frame to the Slave frame via a USB B-A cable. See below. Come out of the Control USB-B port of the Master frame to the USB-A of the Slave. Connect a mouse, monitor and keyboard to your Slave frame or use Remote Desktop Connection (Username-Cricket, Password- Cricket) and remote into the OS. The Slave frame will/may prompt you 'Hardware found' click Ok. Restart both frames. Your remoted

2 X20 frame may require the OS to be shutdown(front panel blue button will keep flashing)-in your remote session, click on the desktop-hit Alt F4. Choose shutdown. Upon restart the master frame will display "connecting to External Com" and the Slave will display "connecting to Internal Com" In a 2 frame parallel system, the SBC of the slave frame is driving the expansion. You should see the IP address of the slave frame displaying in the front panel of the master frame, v4.0.1, 32I 16O. The slave frame front panel will display Frame ID 1. Creating a parallel configuration- Open Vista Advanced, do not connect yet. Go to file/new/start with new empty config. Choose you X20 models, Choose Virtual Frames. Set your pixels space. My example is a widescreen, seemless 256 blend using 10

3 I did not choose a preview pixel space in the wizard. *See Building Preview Space in X20 Parallel knowledge Base article. At the end of the wizard apply the config to your local machine(virtual Mode).

4 Now create a Backup file of the current configuration that is on your Vista advanced while you are offline. File\Backup Connect to your X20's in parallel using the Connection Manager in Vista Advanced software.(remember, this is the single IP address from the Slave frame) Go to File\restore and restore that backup file you had just created. I have adjusted my outputs in the System Patch so I have 5 outputs for each frame covering my pixel space. The AOR's overlap by the blend amount.

6 Setting Up your Inputs When setting up your inputs you will have either a video router/switcher upstream or DA and route to both frames. Using a router/switcher-you need to patch the router accordingly.

7 Go to Tools\Options. In the property panel, Under Simulator enable Auto-Link Slave Layers *Setting Hide slave layers to TRUE will stop you from viewing the Slave layer number(17) from the slave frame. So layer 1 will stay present even though you are using layer 17( layer 1) of the slave frame

8 You must then build your sources in the source list referencing the router. Using a DA When using a DA you must create a source for each frame and enable Slave Layer Overrides. Drag and drop a source (PC-1A in my example) into the pixel space.

9 Create a Command Key by R-Clicking in Command Key panel and select 'add from program'. Name the command key. In the Script window, there is now a Source Element. Highlight the element and go over to the property panel on the right hand side and go to Slave layers In Frame Group: 1, check the layer you want to slave to the Source element(i chose Layer 17). Check the box for Pixel space, check the box for Source and choose your

10 Source that was created for Frame 1(PC-1B) You should now see your source on both sides of your video wall.
