The Equinox App and accompanying in-wall touchscreens provide a simple interface for managing any environment. Navigation Equinox widgets use three levels of user interaction, creating a unique balance between simplicity and customization. Navigate is simple across all three levels; level 1) dashboard, where 90% everyday control is used, level 2) full-screen view, and level 3) edit mode. Through profiles, Equinox can dynamically and uniquely personalize each in-wall or mobile device. Three Navigation Screen Levels Level 1 dashboard Level 2 full screen Level 3 edit mode 1 Dashboard Level The Dashboard Level is where users spend most of their time. Users can swipe among available widgets, with 3 widgets visible at a time. To see more detail in any widget, press the discovery dots to reveal the Full Screen Level. 2 Full Screen Level At the Full Screen Level see more detail on the selected widget. For example the full screen level for the scenes widget, will show the dashboard level buttons on the left side and more scenes on the right side. The scenes on the right may be scrolled through with up/down gestures to the list to quickly access unlimited scenes. The edit mode can only be accessed from the full screen mode. To enter the edit mode of the current widget, press the edit widget icon in the upper right side of the display to reveal the Edit Mode Level. Tip: Design Center allows up to 15 scenes that may be preprogrammed, however, the number of scenes in the widget is not limited. Remember each Profile can have a different set of scenes; this helps to keep the scene list manageable in each profile. 3 Edit Mode Level Edit and customize the selected widget at the edit mode level. For example, in the scene widget, scenes may be dragged to customize scene order; also, edit, delete, create and other possibilities are self-evident when editing widgets. Each widget s edit mode level is unique to that widget. Additional edit screens automatically open depending on what is being edited. 8 Scene Widget TROUBLE SHOOTING & TIPS Scenes Scenes Trouble Shooting & Tips A scene macro that controls dissimilar objects will not track state. A work around would be to built the macro in Design Center, program it to track state, and assign to a button, then the scene button on Equinox may be assigned to that button also; in this case the scene s status may be tracked. The load slider for a scene will show controlled load value regardless of scene being On/Off. The LED (scene name) status of a scene is orange/on ONLY if load levels are exactly as set up in the scene. Thermostats can only be set to thermostat schedules, home, away, vacation, and custom. Currently it is not possible to set the mode or setpoint value in a scene unless the scene points to a button in Design Center programmed to a specific thermostat mode and setpoint. It is not possible to create scenes with both Design Center buttons and other scene objects (see item 5 in current table above). Video objects are not currently supported in scenes. Each profile may have its own set of scenes. The first five scenes are shown on the dashboard level, additional scenes are accessed by going to the full screen level. Re-arrange the order of scenes by going to the edit scenes level and then dragging the scene to order wanted. III. Audio Widget Audio Widget DESIGN CENTER Design Center Tips Before Running Equinox Audio Widget 5. Use supported music source drivers and a supported music amplifier/tuner drivers for zone control. Supported Drivers will have the EQ certified icon. Both source and zone devices must be in Design Center for the audio widget to function properly. 11 IV. Video/Theater Widget Video/Theater Widget Equinox Video/Theater Widget Concepts The Video/Theater widget is a single widget. The way the Equinox video widget is used determines if it more closely fits a video or theater application this is simply a matter of semantics. The two approaches have many similarities that will be explained here. The Equinox video widget s versatility adequately uses either approach. Theater Approach: 7. One (zone) uses many (sources). A theater, typically, has a single display LCD, LED, Projector, etc. 8. The display has multiple input selections; examples, satellite/cable box, network video, Apple TV, Blu-Ray player, etc. HDMI 1 cable/satellite box display TV / projector HDMI 2 HDMI 3 media server 2 blu-ray player Video Approach: 9. Many (zones) use many (sources). The video approach is usually used when video sources are distributed to many displays. 10. A video switcher and multiple sources are typically located in a single location as in an electrical closet or rack. Media runs are then made from this single location to multiple TVs, display projectors, etc. throughout the project. display display display Summary: 11. Both concepts can be used separately or integrated in varying degrees as necessary to meet the installation requirements of the designer. 12. All of the video and audio components in a project are available to all Equinox devices connected to the system. So it becomes important to control what is available through profiles. Each profile can be set to display different widgets and further, what driver objects are available to the widget in the current profile. 13. Thus, filtering of video zones and sources is accomplished from inside the video widget. Within the widget it is possible to show or hide which zones and sources will be shown. To reiterate, selection of available zones and sources is unique to each profile. DESIGN CENTER Design Center Setup Before Running Equinox Video/Theater Widget Display device object (above) Input Configuration tab (below) INTERNET cable/satellite box media server 2 video switcher blu-ray player ISP internet ISP internet 14. Use Equinox supported drivers. Supported Equinox drivers have the EQ certified icon. 15. The Design Center project file must: 1) contain a Display Driver, either a TV or a projector, 2) contain an Input Zone, that is AVZone2 capable with multiple or single zone, 3) contain an Input Device, connected to sources on display configuration or input zone object. General Steps 1) Add Devices to be controlled as either drivers or Generic Device objects. 2) Add switchers or home theater receiver drivers as needed. 3) Assign devices to inputs on switcher/home theater receivers. 4) Add Display Driver. a. If driver supports InputSwitcher Interface, and there are discrete codes for selecting an input, multiple inputs will be available. b. If driver either does not support InputSwitcher or does not have discrete codes for selecting inputs, only a single input will be available. c. Use the new Display Name feature for video objects to help identify display zones. Display Name is a new property in the Object Editor. 5) In Design Center, select the display device. In the Object Editor, select the Input Configuration tab of the display device. 6) Assign either the Driver Object or AVZone object to the Connected Source field that corresponds to the physically installed input. a. OPTIONAL: Select a Widget Action task. i. This task will be launched each time the display switches to that input. b. OPTIONAL: Select the volume checkbox if the volume will be directly controlled by the display. i. If unselected, the widget will attempt to use the connected source for volume control. 25 X. Pool and Spa Widget Pool & Spa Widget Pool and Spa Widget Equinox, pool and spa widget is a simple to use application for managing and viewing pool or spa information. The Equinox Pool and Spa Widget requires supported drivers for proper operation. Check periodically with Vantage or a Vantage dealer to get the latest list of supported partners for this and other Equinox widgets. POOL AND SPA WIDGET SUMMARY Pool & Spa Widget Setup Summary Using the new pool widget is now a standalone interface. This is different than previous pool implementation through Equinox widgets. The primary changes noticed when migrating over will be: No Pool temperature settings in the climate widget. No Pool auxiliaries in the lighting widget. No pool auxiliaries in the scene widget. Configuring a Vantage system to allow the pool widget to properly propagate is a multi step process, including work in both Design Center and Equinox devices. Pre Requisites The pool widget, currently, only supports the Jandy Aqualink RS. The Jandy Aqualink RS driver must be used in order to gain access to the full functionality of the Equinox platform. For accurate and trouble free setup, determine physical configuration of the pool or spa system. Note, all heaters, pumps, setpoints, and auxiliaries in their order. Driver Setup Design Center Add Jandy AqualinkRS driver. Assign the correct RS-232 port used for driver communication. If system uses separate pumps for both pool and spa, select the Separate Pumps option in Design Center. Add Auxiliaries Under the Auxiliaries item, add or remove auxiliaries connected to the spa or pool system to or from the UI. Auxiliaries should be added in the same order they are connected to the spa or pool system. On each auxiliary: Set the Display Name; while there is no limit to the number of characters allowed, concise names are encouraged and better support the limited display area inside the widget. Set the Aux Type; this sets which icon will be used in the widget to help identify the auxiliary object along with the name. Add Pool and/or Spa Click Add Pool or Add Spa in Object Editor. Set the Display Name of the pool or spa. This is what will show up on the dashboard, and the full screen be concise. The pool will automatically add the required pump do not change the Pump Type. If the system uses separate pumps for both pool and spa functions, select the Separate Pumps option in Design Center. Jandy AquaLinkRS8 Required Setup In addition to the pump that was automatically added, add the following. Click Add Heater (Pool, Spa, Solar). Click Add Setpoint (Pool or Spa). Click Add Temperature (Pool or Spa). Optional driver controls include: Add Pump; Add a second pump object and select Pump_Low_Speed as the type. Secondary Setpoints; Add a second setpoint, and set its type to be Setpoint_2. Add a second heater and set its type to Setpoint_2_Enable. Air Temperature Add a second temperature object and set its type to Air. For this to show up on both the pool and spa, add the temperature object to both pool and spa. Add Spa Adds the same as a pool, with different object types selected. Vantage, 2/14/2015 / IS-0550-A Vantage Comprehensive Guide to Equinox App Widgets page 25 of 32
