1 Installation Instructions IR REMOTE CONTROL KIT # INTRODUCTION: This kit adds IR Volume and Lighting Control to CD-100L or NSE-1 Jukeboxes that have a 2-Channel Preamplifier TOOLS REQUIRED: 1/4" nut driver PARTS SUPPLIED IN THIS KIT: Part No. Description Qty IR Volume Control #8 x 5/8 Hex WRHS (Type 17) Modular Cable Assy. Turn jukebox off and unplug power cord. 2. Install the IR Volume Control (Part # ) in the jukebox on the top shelf, in the area left of the title display board (CD-100L) or Monitor (NSE-1) as shown in Figure 1. Use screws to secure it in the two holes provided, with P1, P2 and P3 towards the front. FIGURE 1 Sht. 1 of 6

Install the 24" Modular Cable (Part # ) by plugging one end into P5 on the IR Volume Control, routing the cable back, down through the shelf, and forward to the Central Control Computer (CD-100L) or Rowelink Controller (NSE-1). Plug the cable into any one of the ROWELINK jacks, P9 P12 on the CCC (CD-100L) or into P7 on the Rowelink Controller (NSE-1). 4. Mount the IR Receiver (Part # ) which will receive signals from the remote control. You may either place the receiver in the jukebox on the door, or outside and above the jukebox. If placing the IR Receiver outside of the jukebox: CD-100L: Plug one end of the 15' Modular Cable (Part # ) into one of the IR jacks (P5 or P6) on the Keyboard/Display Control circuit board located in the center of the inside of the door, directly behind the user keypad. Route the remainder of the cable right across the door, through the cable clamp and into the jukebox, below the Central Control Computer, down and out the access hole located on the back wall of the jukebox. NSE-1: Plug one end of the 15' Modular Cable (Part # ) into P11 on the Rowelink Controller. Route the cable down and out the access hole located on the back wall of the jukebox. You may need to open the access hole by unscrewing the screws and sliding the cover. Plug the other end of the cable, now outside the jukebox, into the IR Receiver (Part # ). Mount the IR Receiver on the wall or ceiling near the jukebox. If placing the IR Receiver inside the jukebox: Disassemble the IR Receiver (Part # ) to remove the circuit board. Place two plastic circuit board supports (Part # ) on bottom of circuit board and attach to mounting bracket as shown in Figure 2. Plug one end of 54" Modular Cable into P2 of IR Detector circuit board. Maneuver this assembly into top hole on inside center of the door and mount with two screws as shown in Figure 3. Route the rest of the cable around and down to the right, tucking the cable with the other harnesses on the door s edge. CD_100L: About halfway down the door, route the remainder of the cable in towards the keyboard display area and plug into one of the IR jacks (P5 or P6) on the Keyboard/Display Control circuit board. NSE-1: Route the remainder of the cable down the door and in towards the Rowelink Controller along with the door speaker harness. Plug the connector into P11 on the Rowelink Controller. Locate the volume control wire harness that is connected to the volume control header on the Preamplifier at the top of the back wall of the jukebox. Unplug that harness and reroute it left to the IR Volume Control installed in step 2, plugging it into P3 ( wired volume control ). If the wired volume control is a single volume control (one volume control adjusts both left and right channels): Plug one end of the Volume / IR 2-Channel Harness (Part # ) into the volume control header on the Preamplifier and the other end into the P2 of the IR Volume Control. On the IR Volume Control, set all S1 dip switches to OFF. If the wired volume control is a dual volume control (one volume control adjusts left channel, and another volume control adjusts right channel): Plug one end of the Volume / IR 2-Channel Harness (Part # ) into the volume control header on the Preamplifier and the other end into P1 of the IR Volume Control. On the IR Volume Control, set S1 dip switch 1 to ON and the other switches to OFF. Sht. 3 of 6

4 CONTROLLING THE VOLUME: Volume can be controlled by the IR Transmitter (Part # ) and a single or dual wired (or two single wired) remote control. If a wired control is used to adjust the volume after it has been changed with the IR Transmitter, move the wired control up or down until the volume starts to change, then move it to your desired volume. ON THE IR VOLUME CONTROL BOARD: The ROWELINK RCV LED should flash continuously at approximately 20 CPS. The IR VOL COMM led will flash when a CH1 or CH2 key is pushed. KEYS ON THE IR TRANSMITTER See the following for IR Remote Setup: For the CD-100L refer to the Device Setup Menu in your Service Manual (Vol. I, Section 2) for IR Remote Setup (Keys 9,1). For the NSE-1, see the Jukebox Operations and Setup Screens manual - both of the sections on IR Remote Setup and Credit Management apply. CH1 and CH2, volume UP keys raise the volume. CH1 and CH2, volume DOWN keys lower the volume. POWER key turns lights ON/OFF. When lights are off, the jukebox is in Sleep mode. Any selection currently playing will be cancelled when this mode is entered. In the NSE-1 the monitor also turns off. Pressing POWER again to turn the lights (and monitor in NSE-1) back on will cause the jukebox to resume normal operation and any selections left in the queue when Sleep made was entered will begin to play. LIGHTS + and LIGHTS - For the CD-100L, refer to Section 4 in Volume 2 of your Service Manual, P/N For the NSE-1, refer to Section 4 in your Service Manual, P/N REJECT For the CD-100L, key rejects the song that s playing when pushed and, if enabled, cancels (REJECT ALL) all selections in queue if held down for 5 seconds. For the CD-100L, refer to the Device Setup Menu in your Service Manual (Vol.I, Section 2) for IR Remote Setup IR CLR SEL (Keys 9,1,8). For the NSE-1, see the Jukebox Operations and Setup Screens manual - the section on IR Remote Setup shows the screen used to enable or disable the REJECT and/or REJECT ALL feature. Sht. 4 of 6

5 PAUSE This key puts jukebox in pause mode for a programmed amount of minutes or until the PLAY key is pushed. For the CD-100L, refer to the Device Setup Menu in your Service Manual (Vol. I, Section 2) for IR Remote Setup Remote Pause and Remote Pause Time (Keys 9,1,3 and 9,1,4). For the NSE-1, see the IR REMOTE SETUP section in the Jukebox Operations and Setup Screens manual (P/N ) for menu to setup the PAUSE features. PLAY key puts jukebox in play mode FUTURE key is used to give a remote credit. For the CD-100L, refer to the Device Setup Menu in your Service Manual (Vol. I, Section 2) for IR Remote Setup Remote Credit (Keys 9,1,2) to enable/disable this feature.
