NEW SERVICES IN KAUFMAN COUNTY
Agenda About Funding Explanation Grant / System Efficiency New Service Explanation Process/Timing 2
Committed to the Transit Customer Clients come first. We are often: The only means to work or the doctor. The only way to access community and fellowship. The only means to preventive medical attention and regular treatment. The only regular shopping trip. The only way for a caretaker to continue working. The only path to dignity and self-reliance to those unable to reliably travel by automobile. 3

Thank You Kaufman County! FY18 Total Cost of Service in Kaufman County: $1,444,800 FY18 Grant and Leverage Funding: $1,303,974 FY18 Local Government Contribution: $140,826 Each $1.00 in Local Funds nets $9.26 in Leverage Funds 10
Grant STAR Transit saw a need to link employment opportunity and residents between Terrell an Kaufman using SH34. STAR Transit requested TXDOT funds to implement the program. STAR Transit received a TXDOT grant for $50,000 covering the cost of operations (first year only). Received 4 new buses, a benefit of over $330,000 to Kaufman County residents. This funding will help implement a new, on-going service between Terrell and Kaufman. 11
System Efficiency STAR Transit Demand Response data shows a need for regular service in the City of Terrell. Transit agencies with a localized density of Demand Response service can often increase efficiency and reduce costs by transitioning to limited fixed route services. STAR Transit proposes to shift some Demand Response service in Terrell to a new Fixed Route system. 12
