2 BDA members have access to a selection of ebooks. Our collection is growing all the time and if there is a particular title you would like to have access to please let us know and we will check if it is available to download through our ebook suppliers. Most of the books are also available to loan from the library. All ebooks are accessible through the library s catalogue on the BDA website. Ebooks can be read online on PCs, tablets and some smartphones. They can also be downloaded for up to seven days. You will need a Password to access ebooks. To set up a Password contact the Library on library@bda.org or To access the catalogue go to More detailed instructions on accessing these ebooks can be found on the dawsonera website. Click on the help link at the top underneath the logo after logging in. Getting started To bring up a list of titles available online type ebooks into the library catalogue and click search.

3 This will bring up of a list of currently available titles. Find the title you want and click on the link starting This book can be read online. If you are taken to dawsonera read on - if you are taken to EBL then read the Ebooks-EBL guide. Enter your membership number/library username followed by your library Password in the boxes under Direct Login and click Login. If your membership number is less than 5 digits long we will give you an alternative login.

4 The first time you log in you will be taken to a page where you need to accept the terms and conditions before proceeding. The next page will bring up a description of the book you wish to view and an option to download or read online. The next 2 sections detail how to do both of these options. Reading a book online Click on the open book image and the screen will appear. Choose which section of the book you would like to read from the contents list on the left-hand side of the screen. The links on the left also allow you to make personal page notes. These will save automatically after you log out. You can also search for terms within the book, highlight and copy sections and print pages from the book. Due to copyright restrictions, only 5% of the book can be printed or copied per user. Please note: Printing and copying is only available when reading a book online. This feature does not work for downloaded titles.

5 Downloading a book If you wish to download the book to your computer click on the paper with down arrow icon. A box will then appear asking you for No. of days and you will be given the option to download the title for 1 to 7 days. Click on Download and the following screen will appear. Then click open to bring the book up on the screen in Adobe Acrobat. iphone & ipad users will need to click on the sentence "For iphone & ipad users click here to download". Then click open to bring the book up on the screen. You may then be asked if you are prepared to Allow the download and then agree to the author tracking your interactions if they wish to. The book will then appear on your screen.

6 Downloading non BDA Library titles You can also download books not available through your library membership, directly from dawsonera. Click on ebook catalogue from the menu tabs at the top of the screen or enter a search term to find if a particular book is available. If a book is available to rent you will see an image with an R next to it Click on this to send a loan request to dawsonera. There is a charge for this service which is dependent on the book rented and the time you wish to download it for.
