10 Adobe Portable Documet Format Adobe Portable Documet Format Pritig this book Cadle supplies documetatio i the Adobe Portable Documet Format (PDF). The Adobe Acrobat Reader will prit PDF documets with the fots, formattig, ad graphics i the origial documet. To prit a Cadle documet, do the followig: 1. Specify the prit optios for your system. From the Acrobat Reader Meu bar, select File > Page Setup ad make your selectios. A settig of 300 dpi is highly recommeded as is duplex pritig if your priter supports this optio. 2. To start pritig, select File > Prit... o the Acrobat Reader Meu bar. 3. O the Prit pop-up, select oe of the Prit Rage optios for All Curret page Pages from: [ ] to: [ ] 4. (Optioal). Select the Shrik to Fit optio if you eed to fit oversize pages to the paper size curretly loaded o your priter. Pritig problems? The prit quality of your output is ultimately determied by your priter. Sometimes pritig problems ca occur. If you experiece pritig problems, potetial areas to check are: settigs for your priter ad priter driver. (The dpi settigs for both your driver ad priter should be the same. A settig of 300 dpi is recommeded.) the priter driver you are usig. (You may eed a differet priter driver or the Uiversal Priter driver from Adobe. This move was made to better eable us to address our customers eeds by providig tools that ehace productivity. Oe of the results of the move is that it is o loger possible to create BookMaager versios of the OMEGAMON II for IMS mauals. However, the mauals remai available olie i the Adobe PDF versio o CD-ROM ad are also available o the Cadle Corporatio website at www. Cadle.com. The documetatio CD beig provided with this release has robust ad easy-to-use search capabilities. You ca search for iformatio i multiple volumes, multiple versios, ad across products. From the OMEGAMON II CUA iterface System Overview pael, select CMD/Meu Iterface (OMEGAMON ) from the GoTo pull-dow. OMEGAMON II displays the Zoom to OMEGAMON pop-up so that you ca zoom to the Meu Iterface scree space. 2. Press Eter to zoom to the default scree space. OMEGAMON II displays the Mai Meu. 3. 24 About the Bottleeck Aalysis Collector About the Bottleeck Aalysis Collector Itroductio The OMEGAMON II iterface attaches the Bottleeck Aalysis collector as a MVS subtask. At a user-defied iterval, the collector samples the processig states of all threads ad BMPs ruig i IMS ad records the data it gathers i virtual storage. A processig state (also called a executio state) is either what a thread is doig or why it is waitig. Usig CPU i IMS, Waitig for CPU, ad IRLM Coflict Wait are typical executio states. Bottleeck Aalysis Executio States o page 51 describes executio states i more detail. The collector rus as a subtask of the iterface. You oly eed oe collector (ad Bottleeck Aalysis permits oly oe), o matter how may users log o to Bottleeck Aalysis. This meas that all users access the same data. Collector Operatio Oce the collector has bee attached by the OMEGAMON II iterface ad begis to sample, it allocates virtual storage to hold the data it gathers. This area, ofte referred to as the couters or buckets, is divided ito two parts: the short-term area ad the log-term area. The default parameters iclude a optio to allocate space to hold database I/O wait iformatio by idividual database ame. Whe this optio is ivoked, the collector allocates a additioal area, which it also divides ito short-term ad log-term sectios. The data areas cotai couters for overall thread activity, ad also for activity broke dow by PSB group. Bottleeck Aalysis supports up to 30 PSB groups. You specify to which groups a give PSB belogs. You ca use the PSB groups to target aalysis to specific workloads, such as threads which used a certai PSB. Oce the collector allocates the data areas, it begis observig threads ruig i your IMS system ad recordig their executio states i its couters. The default is to sample every half-secod. You ca reduce this settig to as little as every teth of a secod. Very few users ru the collector more slowly tha oe sample per secod. The purpose of samplig rapidly is to gather a statistically sigificat umber of samples i a short period of time. At user-specified itervals, the collector throws away the data it collected ad starts fresh by zeroig its couters. It does this to prevet the data from beig averaged out over such a log period of time that it ceases to be of iterest to the user of a realtime moitor. The collector supports two clear itervals, correspodig to its short-term ad log-term data areas: The short-term iterval is iteded to be set so the data you see from the short-term couters is from the very recet past. Typically, the short-term iterval is five miutes or less. Cadle ships Bottleeck Aalysis with a default log-term iterval of 30 miutes. Whe the log-term iterval expires, Bottleeck Aalysis clears both the log-term ad short-term buckets. The collector cotiues to gather data util it is told to stop. If more tha oe display cotroller is ruig uder the OMEGAMON II iterface, the collector respods to commads from them i the order they are issued. Before you ca tell the collector what to do i commad mode, you must first issue the IDEG major commad. You ca type the IDEG major commad i commad mode as follows: IDEG The, you ca issue mior commads of IDEG to cotrol the collector as described i the followig sectios. Note: Ay Bottleeck Aalysis mior commad must be preceded by the IDEG major commad. Alteratively, you ca use the Meu iterface to issue IDEG mior commads.
