5 Chapter Chapter 1Itroductio Overview Micro Focus Support Datamart is a requiremets-based decisio support system that extracts data from the Caliber operatioal repository ito a relatioal database, trasforms that data, ad loads it ito a relatioal database. The robust query ad aalysis capabilities of Datamart are compatible with various reportig tools from leadig busiess itelligece software vedors (for example, BusiessObjects, Crystal Reports). The Datamart icludes the Datamart Extractor, the Datamart Cofigurator, ad the Datamart Sychroizer. It also provides three BusiessObjects uiverses ad two templates. You ca use this reportig tool or aother reportig tool. Datamart extracts data from the Caliber operatioal database, trasforms the data, ad the loads it ito a relatioal database where you ca access it usig a reportig tool. Micro Focus offers a variety of support optios. These iclude free services o the Iteret, where you ca search our extesive iformatio base ad coect with other users of Micro Focus products. I additio, you ca choose from several categories of support, ragig from istallatio support to fee-based cosultat-level support ad extesive assistace. 7 Chapter 2Cofigurig Databases ad Chapter Data Source Names Before you ca begi usig the Datamart, you must first create ad cofigure a data source ame (DSN) ad a database o the server the Datamart resides, if: durig the istallatio process, you chose ot to create a MS Access DSN ad database, you eed to create aother MS Access database ad DSN, you wat to use a Microsoft SQL Server database, or you wat to use a Oracle database. Cofigurig Microsoft Access There are two steps to cofigurig Microsoft Access: creatig a DSN, which also selects or creates the database To cofigure MS Access: 1 O the machie that will ru the extractio program, select Start > Settigs > Cotrol Pael>Admiistrative Tools from the Widows Start meu. 2 Double-click o Data Sources (ODBC). Note: Skip Cotrol Pael for Widows 2003; skip Settigs for Widows XP. 3 Select the System DSN tab. 4 Click Add. The Create New Data Source dialog box is displayed. 5 Select Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) from the list ad click Fiish. The ODBC Microsoft Access Setup dialog box is displayed. 6 Eter a ame ad descriptio for the DSN. Note: Borlad recommeds RMMSA. 8 7 To create a ew database, click Create. The New Database dialog box is displayed. Go to Step 8. OR To ope a existig database, click Select. The Select Database dialog box is displayed. Select the MS Access file ad click OK. Go to Step Eter a ame for the.mdb file ad avigate to the locatio you wat to save the file. Note: Borlad recommeds you save it i a sub-folder i the Datamart directory. 9 Click OK to exit the New Database dialog box. 10 Click OK to exit the ODBC Microsoft Access Setup dialog box. 11 Click OK to exit the Create New Data Source dialog box. Your DSN ad database are created. Proceed to page 7 for iformatio o cofigurig the Datamart. Cofigurig Microsoft SQL Server There are three steps to cofigurig Datamart for Microsoft SQL server: cofigurig a user id ad password i the Caliber Admiistrator, cofigurig the MS SQL server, ad cofigurig the data source ame (DSN). Cofigurig a Userid ad Password i Caliber 1 I the Caliber Admiistrator, create a ew user specific to Datamart. Note: The User ID ad Password eed to match the user id ad password i the MS SQL server exactly. 2 O the Group Membership tab, assig the user to a group. 3 O the Password tab, assig the user a password. Note: The User ID ad Password are case sesitive. 4 Select View > Projects to display project iformatio. O the Group Assigmet tab, assig the user to the group(s) ad project(s) that you are goig to extract. 5 Click the Save butto to save the project. Cofigurig MS SQL Server 1 Select Start > Programs > Microsoft SQL Server from the Widows Start meu to ope the Eterprise Maager. 2 Create a database i MS SQL Server. Note: If you are usure about how to create a SQL Server database, cosult your Microsoft SQL Server documetatio or SQL Server Admiistrator. 3 Create a SQL Server Logi (user) i SQL Server that matches the user created i Caliber (same User ID ad Password). Note: If you are usure about how to create a MS SQL Server Logi, cosult your Microsoft SQL Server documetatio or MS SQL Server Admiistrator. 4 CaliberRM Datamart User Guide

9 Note: The User ID ad Password are case sesitive. 4 O the Database Access tab, esure that the MS SQL Server user has public ad db_ower access i the Database roles for sectio. Note: For more detailed istructios for creatig a MS SQL Server user, see your Microsoft documetatio or MS SQL Server Admiistrator. 5 Click OK. The user ad database are created. 6 Exit the MS SQL Server Eterprise Maager. Cofigurig a System Data Source Name (DSN) The system Data Source Name selects which database Caliber extracts. To create a system DSN: 1 O the machie that will ru the extractio program, select Start > Settigs > Cotrol Pael>Admiistrative Tools from the Widows Start meu. 2 Double-click o Data Sources (ODBC). Note: Skip Cotrol Pael for Widows 2003; skip Settigs for Widows XP. 3 Select the System DSN tab. 4 Click Add. The Create New Data Source dialog box is displayed. 5 Select SQL Server from the list ad click Fiish. The Create a New Data Source to SQL Server scree is displayed. 6 Eter a Name, Descriptio ad select the SQL Server to which you wat to coect. This should be the server that cotais the SQL database. Note: Borlad recommeds RMMSSQL as a ame. See the sectio Multi-Extractio Namig Covetios for iformatio o structure ad amig covetios for multiple extractios. Note: For MS SQL Server, the DSN ame must iclude the letters SQL. 7 Click Next. 8 Select the With SQL Server autheticatio... optio butto. 9 Click the Cliet Cofiguratio butto. The Add Network Library Cofiguratio dialog box is displayed. 10 I the Network libraries sectio, make sure the TCP/IP optio butto is selected. 11 Click OK. 12 Eter the userid ad password that you created for Caliber ad the MS SQL Server. 13 Click Next. 14 Select the Chage the default database to check box, ad select the SQL database from the list. 15 Click Next. 16 Click Fiish. The ODBC Microsoft SQL Server Setup dialog box is displayed. 17 Click Test Data Source. Whe the test is complete, click OK. Note: If the test does ot respod, check with your MS SQL Server admiistrator to esure the SQL Server is set up properly. 18 At the last setup box select OK, ad at the ODBC box, select OK. Your system DSN is created. See Datamart o page 7 for iformatio o cofigurig the Datamart. Chapter 2: Cofigurig Databases ad Data Source Names 5

10 Cofigurig Oracle Server Sice Datamart accesses Oracle server usig a TNS service ame that specifies the locatio of the Oracle database, o special cofiguratio from Datamart is required. You eed to istall ad cofigure a Oracle cliet o the machie where Datamart is already istalled. Note: It is importat that you specify the correct TNS ame durig the Oracle cliet istallatio. Refer to your Oracle documetatio or cotact your system admiistrator for support. After the istallatio is complete, you eed to obtai a valid user ame ad password from your system admiistrator to access the Oracle server. Multi-Extractio Namig Covetios It is recommeded that you follow the followig structure ad amig covetios for multiple Datamart extractios. 11 Chapter Chapter 3Datamart Overview The Datamart extracts data from a Caliber repository, trasforms that data ad loads it ito a relatioal database. You ca ru the Datamart program from a commad prompt or usig a batch file. The Datamart is comprised of three compoets: Datamart Cofigurator: a wizard that eables you to create or edit a cofiguratio file for the Datamart Extractor to use Datamart Extractor: the compoet of the Datamart that extracts the data Datamart Sychroizer: a behid-the-scees module of the Datamart that keeps the objects i the Datamart uiverse sychroized with the user-defied attributes (UDAs) i Caliber. Program Datamart Cofigurator Type of Program Iput Output Wizard-based Selectio: Caliber projects, A *.ii file (* = the file ame) baselie iformatio, choice to extract history, traceability or discussios Datamart Extractor Commad-lie 1. The file ame.ii, the Data Source Name (DSN) that poits to the database ad the server that holds the database (MS Access ad SQL Server specific) 2. The uiverse ame ad the TNS service ame (Oracle specific) A updated uiverse with UDAs from Caliber (RMMSA.uv, RMMSSQL.uv, or RMORA.uv) Datamart Cofigurator To to create or edit a cofiguratio file: 1 Select Start > Programs > Borlad Caliber > Admiistratio > Datamart. The first step of the Caliber Datamart Cofiguratio Wizard displays. To create a ew cofiguratio file, select the Create a ew cofiguratio file optio butto. OR To ope a existig cofiguratio file, select the Ope a existig cofiguratio file optio butto. Click the Browse butto to avigate to the locatio of the file you wat to use. Click Next. 2 Eter the Caliber server Host that cotais the iformatio you wat to export, your User ame ad Password. Click Next. Note: Click Back to chage ay optios o the previous scree if ecessary. Click Cacel to ed the process without savig ay chages. 3 Select the check box beside the baselies you wat to export. If you chose to create a ew file, the curret baselie versios are selected. If you chose to use a existig cofiguratio file, the baselies icluded i that file are automatically selected. Click Next. Note: Select All Projects if you wat to export the curret baselies of all projects. 4 Select the check box ext to the objects you wat to export. If you chose to use a existig cofiguratio file, the objects icluded i that file are automatically selected. Click Next. 5 Step 5 of the Datamart Cofiguratio Wizard provides a preview of the cofiguratio file you are about to create. 6 Click Fiish. I the Save As dialog box, avigate to the locatio i which you wat to save the cofiguratio file. Eter a ame for your file. Note: Please read the sectio Multi-Extractio Namig Covetios o page 6 for iformatio o structure ad amig covetios for more tha oe extractio. 7 Click Save. The cofiguratio file is saved as a *.ii. file. 13 Datamart Extractor The Datamart Extractor is the program that exports the data. It is a commad lie executable that accepts argumets for specifyig a cofiguratio file, loggig optios, a data source ame, server ame or sytax help. The Extractor program loads plai text ito the database s descriptio field. The Extractor program ca export icremetal chages sice the last extractio. This requires that a full extractio has to have bee performed o the database first. Oce a full extractio has bee performed, a idicator is added to the cofigfile.ii to show the last date ad time that the extractio was ru o that database. This allows you to use differet cofigfile.ii files to retrieve data from differet projects ad baselies ad still keep track of the last updated date ad times for the differet extractios. You ca also copy the.ii file to a differet computer to perform the extractio ad keep track of the last update date ad times o differet machies. The sytax is: Extractor.exe [parameters] -c cofigfile.ii specifies the cofiguratio file; required -l turs o loggig; optioal -d 1. dsame specifies data source ame for MS Access ad SQL Server 2. TNS ame specifies Oracle server locatio for Oracle; required -s 1. server ame cotaiig the MS SQL Server database; required 2. oracle specifies Oracle as a database server; required -? displays the sytax -log extracts text fields o-trucated; optioal, for Oracle oly -dbu -dbp -oextraces -update specifies the Oracle user ame; optioal, applies oly if Oracle user ame differs from Caliber user ame specified i the *.ii file specifies the Oracle user password; optioal; applies oly if Oracle user password differs from Caliber user password specified i the *.ii file turs off extractig exteral traces icremetally extracts data modified sice the last date of the last extractio; Note: cofigfile.ii is required to perform icremetal updates. 14 The sytax is: -depth Specifies the depth of direct ad implied traces to be extracted. Set this parameter to a umerical value. The followig example shows three requiremets traced to each other. ReqA > ReqB > ReqC Settig the depth parameter affects the types of traces extracted, as the followig list shows: 1 = Oly direct traces are extracted (ReqA>ReqB, ReqB>ReqC). 2 = Direct ad implied traces are extracted (ReqA>ReqB, ReqB>ReqC, ReqA>ReqC) Note: The default value for this parameter is 0. All direct ad implied traces are extracted by default. Importat! Whe usig MS SQL database, the Caliber user that extracts the data must have a idetical userid with permit i database: public, db_ower, ad bulkadmi roles i the MS SQL Server. MS SQL Server has a limit of how much data ca be iserted ito a row. The followig registry keys are available to cotrol the row size. The keys are placed o the server ruig the Datamart Extractor uder \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Borlad\ Extractor\Settigs. These keys are for MS SQL Server ad MS Access. Registry Keys Type Default Fuctio MultiSelectColumSize DWORD 128 Cotrols the amout of data iserted i the UDAs MSL, MSGL & MSUL. DescriptioColumSize DWORD 4000 (also the maximum) Cotrols the amout of data iserted i the descriptio field. MultiLieColumSize DWORD 2048 Cotrols the amout of data i the UDA MLTF. ValidatioColumSize DWORD 512 Cotrols the amout of data iserted i the validatio field. Importat! Whe usig Oracle database, Caliber RM Datamart requires that you specify the Oracle value for the -s parameter. There is a limit to how may symbols you ca isert ito a text field. By default all text fields are trucated by 1999 characters uless you use the -log parameter. Note that usig the -log parameter is ot recommeded if you pla to use a reportig tool that does ot support NCLOB data type (for example, BusiessObjects). 15 Examples of Datamart Extractor Commad Lie Iterface EXTRACTOR -c cofigfile.ii -d RMMSA -oextraces EXTRACTOR -c cofigfile.ii -d RMMSA -update Rus Extractor.exe, reads the cofiguratio from the file cofigfile.ii ad does ot extract ay exteral traces. Rus Extractor.exe, reads the cofiguratio from the file cofigfile.ii ad performs icremetal update. Datamart Extractor Recommedatios Borlad recommeds the followig to optimize your extractor performace ad usage: Extract requiremets or requiremets with traces data oly ad tur loggig off to icrease the speed of the extractio. If History ad Discussio are eeded, cosider a less frequet separate extractio (ito aother database) cotaiig data from those optios. Place the output database (MS Access, MS SQL Server, or Oracle) o the Caliber server machie ad ru the extractio durig off peak hours to avoid etwork traffic. Review the sectio System Requiremets i the Caliber Release Notes for server recommedatios for this cofiguratio. Use MS Access to optimize the display (up to 8,000 characters ca be stored i the descriptio ad multi-lie text attribute fields.) Do ot extract projects that are empty. The extractio time is impacted by the umber of projects extracted iclude those with o requiremets. Extract icremetal chages oly provided the list of UDA types is preserved. Datamart performace ca be ehaced by usig temporary text files to load iformatio ito the relatioal databases. The size of the files is approximately equal to the size of the extracted database. You must esure you have eough hard drive space for the temporary files. The files are created i the directory from which you ru the extractor. Upo successful extractio, the files are automatically removed. To leverage this Microsoft ad Oracle recommeded optio: For Oracle: Iclude the -sqlldr commad optio. If you do ot iclude this optio, Datamart will ot use the temporary files. For Microsoft SQL Server: Esure that you grat the Datamart user the bulkadmi role i additio to the public ad db_ower roles. If the Microsoft SQL Server database ad Datamart reside o differet machies, you must complete the followig steps: 1 The perso resposible for the etwork security must create a shared folder o the computer where Datamart is istalled ad esure that the Microsoft SQL Server user is grated read-oly access rights to this folder. 2 Add the -path optio to the commad specifyig the path to the folder created i Step 1. For example, -path "C:\Program Files\bulkdata". The temporary files will be placed i this folder. 3 Add the -share optio to the commad specifyig the same folder i UNC format. For example, -share "\\MyComputer\bulkdata" where MyComputer is the computer ame where the shared folder is located ad bulkdata is the ame of the share. Schedulig Datamart Extractios To schedule the extractios usig stadard Widows Scheduled Task Wizard, perform the followig: Chapter 3: Datamart 11

16 1 Start Scheduled Task Wizard from the Start meu. Click Next o the first scree. 2 O the ext scree, click Browse ad locate the Datamart Extractor Executable (Extractor.exe). 3 Specify the ame of the scheduled task ad ru iterval. Click Next. 4 Select the start time ad date. Click Next. 5 Specify the autheticatio iformatio for the task. Click Next. 6 Select Ope advaced properties for this task whe I click Fiish ad click Fiish. 7 I the Ru field of the tasks advaced properties dialog box, specify ecessary parameters for the Extractor.exe file. For example: "C:\Program Files\Borlad\Caliber\extractor.exe" -c "C:\Program Files\Borlad\Caliber\ Datamart\CofiguratioFile.ii" -s oracle -d dmart4rm.itra.serverexact.com -sqlldr - dbu DatabaseUser -dbp DatabasePassword -l -oextraces Alteratively, you ca create a batch file with ecessary parameters for Extractor.exe ad schedule batch file executio. Notes: If the data you wat to extract cotais traces to or from StarTeam, Caliber tries to log o to the ecessary StarTeam server usig credetials stored o the curret computer. Make sure the StarTeam Toolbar is ruig or log o at least oce to your StarTeam server to acquire a trace i the Caliber to store logo iformatio o the computer. To perform silet extractio of traces to or from Quality Ceter, select the Make default credetials optio while loggig o to Quality Ceter. To chage the default credetial, delete the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ Borlad\Caliber\qc_auth" registry key ad log agai i Quality Ceter. Datamart Sychroizer The Datamart Sychroizer keeps the user-defied attribute (UDA) objects i the Datamart uiverse sychroized with the UDAs i Caliber. The Datamart Sychroizer is a behid-the-scees program that you should ru after the Datamart is ru. You should ru it oce, ad the oly after a user-defied attribute is created, modified or deleted i Caliber. The Datamart Sychroizer rus idepedetly usig the commad prompt. The sytax is: Sychroizer.exe [parameters] -u Uiverse Name specifies which BusiessObjects uiverse to sychroize if you selected BusiessObjects as a reportig tool -d 1. DSN specifies the data source ame to the database with which it is sychroized for MS Access ad SQL Server 2. TNS specifies the TNS service ame to the database with which it is sychroized for Oracle - User Name your reportig tool (for example, BusiessObjects) user ame; the default user ame is (CaliberPRO User); optioal; oly used whe a BusiessObjects security model is used 12 CaliberRM Datamart User Guide

17 The sytax is: -p Password your reportig tool (for example, BusiessObjects) password; default is (Aalytics); optioal, oly used whe a BusiessObjects security model is used -? Displays the sytax -s Server type specifies the Oracle database (the oracle value); required, for Oracle oly -dbu -dbp Oracle user ame; reqiured whe usig a Oracle database (for Oracle oly Oracle user password; reqiured whe usig a Oracle database (for Oracle oly) Examples of Datamart Sychroizer Commad Lie Iterface SYNCHRONIZER -u RMMSA -d RMMSA SYNCHRONIZER -u RMMSSQL -d DSN=RMMSSQL;UID=userame;p wd=password SYNCHRONIZER -u RMORA -s oracle -d ts_ame -dbu oracleuser -dbp oraclepassword MS Access example; sychroizes the uiverse RMMSA ad specifies the data source RMMSA. MS SQL Server example; sychroizes the uiverse RMMSSQL ad specifies the data source RMMSSQL, the user ame UID, ad the password. Note that spaces are ot allowed withi the value specified (for example, the optio -d is followed by a space while o spaces are allowed withi the DSN=RMMSSQL;UID=userame;pwd=password value) Oracle example; sychroizes the uiverse RMORA ad specifies the server oracle, the oracle TNS service ame ts_ame, the user ame for Oracle oracle User, ad the password for Oracle oraclepassword Importat! Whe usig BusiessObjects as a reportig tool, you must complete the followig steps oce for each uiverse file before ruig the Datamart Sychroizer. 1 Select Start > Programs > Busiess Objects > Desiger to Lauch BusiessObjects Desiger. Note: If the Desiger Wizard lauches, click Cacel. 2 Select File > Ope. The Ope dialog box is displayed. Note: If the New Report Wizard is displayed, click Cacel. 2 Select Tools > Optios. 3 Select the File Locatio tab. 4 Select Uiverses from the File Types list. 5 Click Chage. 6 Navigate to the folder that cotais the BusiessObjects uiverses. The uiverses are istalled with Datamart. The default is (C:\Program Files\Borlad\Caliber Datamart\Uiverses\Busiess Objects). 7 Click OK. 8 Click OK to exit the Optios dialog box.
