What if I cannot publish my Spreadsheet online because I am experiencing technical issues? Whom do I contact at Nareit if I have questions or need assistance? What should I do if I am not the correct person to complete the 1099 or 2439 Spreadsheets? My company participated in Nareit s 1099 reporting project in a previous year. How can I look up what we previously submitted? My company paid no dividends in Should I submit a spreadsheet? If so, how should I complete it? What do these tabs mean near the top of the page? How can I view a previous version of my 2017 draft Spreadsheet? I copied and pasted data directly from my local Excel spreadsheet into the online spreadsheet, but the total row is incorrect. Why? How many digits after the decimal point should my numbers include? How do I add rows in the Spreadsheet? Why are there cells I can t edit in the Spreadsheet? Is there a way to lock the top row that contains all of the column headers? How do I copy and paste? Why am I not able to scroll while clicking to selecting cells? How I can view my Spreadsheet in a larger format? How will my Form 1099 and 2439 information be used by the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), Wall Street Concepts (WSC), and Nareit Where can I read the IRS instructions for 1099 tax reporting and the 1099 form? 1
What if I cannot publish my Spreadsheet online because I am experiencing technical issues? Please Allison Shaw for technical assistance in submitting your 1099 Spreadsheet. Whom do I contact at Nareit if I have questions or need assistance? For general inquiries: Dara Bernstein (202) For technical inquiries: Allison Shaw (202) What should I do if I am not the correct person to complete the 1099 or 2439 Spreadsheets? If you feel that you ve been incorrectly contacted and would like to provide an alternative contact at your company who should participate in completing the 1099 and/or 2439 Spreadsheets, please Dara Bernstein or Allison Shaw. My company participated in Nareit s 1099 reporting project in a previous year. How can I look up what we previously submitted? Visit the Year-End Tax Reporting Data page. Companies are listed alphabetically. My company paid no dividends in Should I submit a spreadsheet? If so, how should I complete it? Please submit a spreadsheet. In the box for "notes/supplementary information", please include a note indicating that your company paid no dividends in 2017.You can leave the reminder of the spreadsheet blank. The system will automatically include your company's name and the relevant tax year. What do these tabs mean near the top of the page? View Published: review the submitted Spreadsheet; no editing options available View Draft: review the current draft; no editing options available Edit Draft: edit the current draft Moderate: view and edit all previous draft versions 2
How can I view a previous version of my 2017 draft Spreadsheet? Click the Moderate tab. From there, you will be able to view previously saved versions with identifying author and date information, as well as publish a draft. I copied and pasted data directly from my local Excel Spreadsheet into the online Spreadsheet, but the total row is incorrect. Why? Confirm that you did not paste the total row into the online Spreadsheet. If you did, the Spreadsheet will include that pasted amount in the sum of all of the distributions. How many digits after the decimal point should my numbers include? All amounts include six digits after the decimal point and are expressed as per share amounts. How do I add rows in the Spreadsheet? Use the Insert Row icon on the toolbar at the top of the Spreadsheet. Once a row is added, it cannot be deleted, but so long as it includes no data, its existence will not affect the totals. Make sure to add the necessary amount of rows before copying and pasting cells. Why are there cells I can t edit in the Spreadsheet? The online Spreadsheet works similar to Microsoft Excel: you do not have the ability to edit certain rows and cells because they contain equations that calculate totals and are used to display information only. Is there a way to lock the top row that contains all of the column headers? Yes, you can lock columns and rows. To lock rows, locate the gray bar below the Full Screen icon and above the up-arrow on the top-right scrollbar (highlighted in red in the left-side screenshot). Click and hold down on this gray bar. Then, drag it below row 1; there will be a dotted line as highlighted in the right-side screenshot. 3
Once the dotted line is aligned with the row you want to lock, release your mouse. Once you release your mouse, the scrollbar will change appearance, as in the screenshot below: Locking columns uses this same process but with the gray bar on the bottom-left scrollbar. Again, you are clicking and dragging the gray bar rightward to your desired lock position and then releasing. How do I copy and paste? Use Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V. Right-clicking options are disabled. You also have an additional feature to copy and paste within the Spreadsheet by hovering over the bottomright corner of the cell you wish to copy, which will bring up the below options to move, slide, or fill. Once that image appears, click on the cell, and drag your mouse over the additional cells to which you wish to copy the information. Before After 4
Why am I not able to scroll while clicking to selecting cells? Scrolling functionality may be limited when selecting cells. Utilizing the Full Screen is the best option if you are selecting a large number of cells. How I can view my Spreadsheet in a larger format? Click Full Screen in the top right-hand corner of the Spreadsheet. Click this icon again to exit full screen view. How will my Form 1099 and 2439 information be used by the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), Wall Street Concepts (WSC), and Nareit? DTCC will make the information available to its participating brokers. WSC will distribute the information to mutual funds. Nareit will make the information available to all interested parties, including individual investors, on its website. Please contact tax@broadridge.com for DTCC questions or Justin Feuerstein (646) of WSC for additional information. Where can I read the IRS instructions for 1099 tax reporting and the 1099 Form? For instructions, click here. For the 1099 form, click here. 5
